  1. Is this an 'i told you so' moment? And to think of all the people who missed it cause they had lost faith.
  2. And if thats not being bloody fickle then i dont know what is! The point a few of us on here are trying to make is that you should support your country regardless of who is in the team, who we are playing and how we are playing. To say that you almost find it funny when England lose i find embaressing!
  3. edit: I'll qualify the above just to be sure of what I mean. there are many englishisms I like and am proud of and the values that go as a part of it, but there are equally as many I abhor and find so painfully embarrassing. I'll support and be proud of the elements that I think have a degree of virtue in them, ie the athletes at the games, the spirit of cricket - mock me if you will - might be problems with the selectors there, but generally the way the game is played, and the personnel who represent it. I have enough problems with football as it is with the obscene money and the fact most footballers act like clearings in the woods, and the only reason I follow generally is a link with Villa since I was a kid, especially now we have owners and a manager who exude the kind of traits one can be proud of, but generally, a growing - if small - part of me wishes I'd not been brought up following football. For me, there is absolutely **** all to be proud of in the English football side, from the players, through to the FA, the journalism that surrounds it, and the fans who'll switch from a bit of bigoted chanting to a chorus of boos as and when they please. If they play on tv that I can watch there's a chance I'll probably watch anyway if im not doing anything, but i'm certainly not going to rush out to watch them if I can't when I have extremely limited investment in the team ( will barry score? ) for a start. Rodders, are you English or not?
  4. yep - that's where i'm at too. I can't just pick and choose when to support England at Football. I've grown up with it. It's in my system. the high's and low's of supporting England make us what we are. My mistake, 3 of us it is then who are still patriotic
  5. Well at least there is 2 of us on this forum that are still proud to be English, and are willing to support our country through thick and thin.
  6. What a disgraceful comment that is! Im English and proud of it, and no matter how poor we play, this is my country and i will continue to support it regardless of who is picked. I cant believe a fellow countryman would even come out with a comment like that. I would really love to know exactly why you want your own country to lose a football match? Assuming you are infact English.
  7. Hi General, 1st post to yourself, so would just like to start of by saying a very big thank you to yourself, Randy, Martin and all the rest of the people behind the scenes who are very much taking this football club in the right direction to where we want to be. Just heard the news about Bouma signing his new contract, which has brought a massive smile to my face as he is both a cult hero to us all, and also one of, if not the most consistant and improved players since Martin took over, and in my opinion thoroughly deserved it. It is very pleasing to see the club stay loyal to a player and reward him accordingly even though he suffered such a horrific injury. Im just so happy to have such genuine people looking after our club and doing all the right things in all the right areas and in the right way. Staying with Bouma, is there any further news as to how his rehabilitation is coming along? I know he is probably still in a cast but just thought i would pose the question. Also, as someone said earlier in the thread, if he is now mobile (crutches), is there any chance that maybe he could make an appereance either before kick off or at half time so that us fans can show he is not forgotten and we are all still wishing him a speedy recovery? Now for a little bit of a gripe, on the opening day of the season against Man City, i left my seat (Doug Ellis Upper) at half time to get some refreshments. And as expected there was a sizeable queue already formed. I waited patiently in line for more or less the whole 15 mins to be told once i got to the front of the queue that they could no longer serve me a pint as the match was about to restart even though i had waited a good 15 mins. Now i know rules are rules and will not be changed, but is there any other ideas that could be posed to try and resolve this as i know i was not the only person a little annoyed to have waited that long and be refused to be served. Could there be a way of 1 person taking the money and another serving as the whole process of 1 person being served just seemed to take ages. Sorry if this has been asked before General. Once again thank you very much to all of you involved in taking this great club to where it should be once again. Best regards, Richard
  8. Bravo Roonst, great post mate to which i totally agree with you.
  9. Way cooler than that Cracking write up by the way OBE
  10. Each to there own my friend, i think you would be very suprised as to how many of your friends, family, work collegues etc. would turn out to be 'wasters' as you put it. Personally, i have done my experimenting. Smoked weed when i was a little younger, never really found it all that appealing. Never touched acid, LSD or mushrooms, as not keen on the thought of helusinating. Never have or will touch crack or heroin, dont appeal to me in the slightest, see them as dirty drugs. Coke and pills, must admit ive been known to participate in both on more than 1 occassion, but i will leave it at that :winkold:
  11. Only a 2 horse race between Man U and Chelsea, it will be tight if Man U keep Ronaldo, but IMO if Man U loose Ronaldo Chelsea will piss it.
  12. 3 chippys are working on a building site, at dinner they decide to nip down the town to buy a radio, as they walk into Curry's, they see a nice little radio for £30. They each put £10 in and pay for the radio and leave the shop. The manager then tells the assistant that the radio is reduced to £25 and gives him 5 pound coins and tells him to catch them up and give them back the money. As the assistant sets off he puts 2 pound coins in his pocket. Once he reaches the chippys he gives them each a £1 coin. Therefore they have each paid £9 towards the radio. 3 times 9 = 27....plus the £2 in the assistants pocket = 29. So.........where is the other £1 coin??????????
  13. General, Would just like to echo my fellow Villa supporters comments regarding the Acorns sponsorship. I am today prouder than ever to be a Villa fan, a big thank you to all those involved in making this happen. A truley brillant gesture. Thank You
  14. Villa legend, great servent to the club, would definatly not boo him, but i don't know if i could bring myself to applaude him. He ain't going anyway, me hopes!
  15. Stan holding, Gaz left, Coker right and Ash at the point but with a free role which in my opinion really suited him.
  16. Christ thats a tough one, But i would have to agree that De Niro just nicks it for me, although both are probably the best actors of there generation IMO. Coffee shop scene in Heat, absalutly awsome!!!!!!!!!
  17. Man goes to the doctors and says 'ive got a problem with my hearing' Doctor says 'what are the symptoms?' Man replies 'those yellow people of TV'
  18. Newcastle by a country mile! It's just to much fun to miss when we beat the noses! Newcastle fans are tossers anyway, they think they have a god given right to be 'up there'.
  19. You gotta see this, some of the funniest shit i have seen in a long while!!
