  1. It's his job, that stuff isn't a factor these days. Like I said elsewhere, I'd gladly shoot off to another job if it a) was more prestigious, would potentially get me noticed by more people, and c) pay me more than I would be capped at here. In that order. Loyalty doesn't come into it for regular Joe's jobs, why this assumption it does for footballers? Not when you've been plucked from the Belgian league to play in England as a young bloke. Thats like a polish refugee given a job and a home in england, proving he's a good worker then has the front to say bollocks to your payrise and contract, bollocks to your hospitatilty i can get more working over there so i want out (even though you're paying me more than enough, i can stomach one more year with you..) But I guess thats how a lot of people are thesedays. He can get his move, its just after one season it really gets me how he's just used our club. i didn't hear you complain when the club used Benteke to stay up didn't i? Used? WTF?? He was being paid to do a job. And didn't he did his job or what? Yes, but he wasn't 'used'

  3. So to summarize, Spurs have tapped up a player that they can't afford to buy?
  4. Ridiculous post. its football for goodness sake. the rare moment I agree with Woodytom but he is spot on its only a game. he has given his notice period as it would be in a real company Not quite, someone still has to pay a price we are happy with for him to leave.
  5. 65-75k won't be our wage ceiling for long. If he want's to jump skip in the mean time, the club needs to use the maximum leverage it has to obtain the best fee.
  6. Why he signed a contract for £20k. If he had turned out shite we would have been left holding the baby. Putting that aside we have offered better terms, in exchange for an extension, which has been thrown back in our face. Some you win, some you lose. Ireland being an example of AVFC losing. Can we ask him to lower his wage?
  7. Was thinking this. There are comments from Lambert regarding a new contract, something along the lines his is relaxed about it. I think Lerner is waiting until next summer. But thinking how Lambert came to us, if and when a bigger clubs comes knocking the contract that Lambert is on won't matter anyway.
  8. Got a feeling this will get messy. But I've no doubt Villa will not bend over.
  9. So what price do Spurs fans expect to get for Bale when they sell him next summer? Well I reckon as he's scored more Goals than Benteke, well 2 or 3 anyway, And he's had a bit more experience, but against that he hasn't played in a foreign league and he might not settle.(if you think about Modric he was their best player a couple of years ago and he's not a regular), So if they rate Benteke at £15m I reckon £18 or £19 should be about right, maybe £20m to get the deal done 20m for Bale? I thought you guys were asking for 80m!? I'm a Villa man through and through. I was just thinking about the spurs logic of Benteke being only worth £15m Apparently he could turn shite next year or something.
  10. Your avatar gives me the creeps.......
  11. He can though. Under EU law you have freedom of movement and labour throughout the EU. In reality If he wants to go nobody can stop him. Villa are better off playing nice and giving him a clear idea of the price Villa feel he's worth. If we get that he'll be sold, if not he can stay for one more season and the price tag will be less next summer as he'll only have two years left on his deal. If we get anything above £20m for him it will be good business but we'll never know the fee as it'll be undisclosed. That just means you can work anywhere in the EU being a citizen of the EU. Nothing to do with being in a contract and saying bye bye I've changed my mind and you can wipe your back side on that contract.
  12. Reading that in the comments section of an online article. Daily Mail I think.
  13. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23236667
  14. How much cash 50p? Joking aside 15m straight cash is being banded about on a Spurs forum.
  15. CB what a scum bag. What will hurt more is if we get our pants pulled down over the price. No player swaps please, just hard cash and lots of it. I would like some of 'your going in the reserves if we someone doesn't meet our demands' please as well Over to you AVFC.
  16. Yes, he is under contract for the next 3 years.
  17. I like his comments about the progressive nature of the club. Heart warming.
  18. What's left then. Get rid of the dead wood. Bring in a couple more squad players and Benteke to sign an extension. Be nice if they all happen, but then it would be a perfect window for the Villa and we surely must be due a spanner in works at some point.
  19. I don't think the fee is the stumbling block. More likely the wages. Hence this move, making Bent more likely to accept a lower wage from any suiter.
  20. Only two reasons for doing this, tactics being kept secret and to give any likely move a push. It does seem harsh. Someone like Ireland would't be bothered, Bent, his pride will be hurting
  21. If offers come, they will be low and insulting. It's down to how Randy plays it.
  22. Yup, you would need to be clinically insane to call Birmingham 'exotic'.
  23. Just popped over to a Spurs forum and there are 33 pages on Benteke. Only read the last couple. Before today's Daily Star link they was talking about a 30m fee being to high. Un proven etc.
  24. But this contradicts the point that you've so badly flogged to death. Should the rest of the team be annoyed because one player is earning more!? There's a pay disparity across my department at work - it ranges from around 30-40K for people doing similar jobs - but do the people at the lower end of the scale kick up a fuss and lose morale!? No, they get on with it. Perhaps footballers should do to!? Or perhaps a footballer isn't like a man on the street!? I don't know; I'm confused what side of the fence you sit on with this argument. Should footballers kick up a fuss and act like the average worker (as per your previous posts) or shouldn't they (as per your post above)!? Similar or the same. Quite a difference. In a unionized job I would think the union would not allow different pay scales for the same job. When you work as a bricklayer, pay will vary between bricklayers based on, the amount they produce, the quality and ability. The best paid are known as 'top men'. But it's not a unionized proffession.
  25. I agree about the claim cluture, was reading an article in the week it adds £90 to each car policy in the UK. But to say companies 'loss' money is false. They pass the cost on. It's like running a book at a bookies, you pay out less than you take in. If you don't your running your 'book' incorrect. The profit margins on sold motor insurance policies is tiny. The majority of profit comes from selling additional products like legal expenses cover And if they counldn't make it that way, the cost would be passed on through the motor insurance policy. How they bath the baby is their choice.
