  1. Fantastic!! Who would have thought, as long as ago (!) as this summer, that anything like this was possible. Welcome, general!
  2. Has this happened alot to you?
  3. Jesus, I was only kidding. So what's it to be - 400, 500...??
  4. Which is a very good point. I think the majority of fans on here, if not Villa fans full stop, would prefer to see Lerner 'win' this battle. We are told that negotiations have started again, and it's all looking good. Seeing as how swift Lerner and the Americans 'pulled out' last week, the quieter it gets, perhaps the better looking it is. Most Villa fans I know hav stated that they want the best man/men for the job. That does not necessarliy mean that would be Lerner. No, but since we're in the dark about all the bids, we can at least say that he evidently has some money, and past behaviour suggests he runs things quite well (according to Cleveland Browns fans). The same can't necessarily be said for Neville...
  5. Anyone think we're going to get to 300 pages on this thread before the whole saga is over?
  6. My head says the squad is good enough to finish mid-table, my heart says (no money, no new players, no new owners) we are heading for the drop. Or is it the other way round?
  7. Obviously keep Barry.
  8. So we're going to get four players with 6.5 million pounds in the 8 remaining business days?!
  9. As I understand things that is not the 'if'. I believe that there is absolutely no doubt in his mind that Villa would be a good move for him and I have no doubt that Aston Villa can afford his wages and consider them reasonable. I think that of all his current options Aston Villa is the most attractive. I also believe that the manager of Aston Villa is *very* keen on this deal going through very quickly, and was hoping it would have been done so the player could play against Wolves. I also believe that Aston Villa could afford the deal, should they so wish. So once again, do Aston Villa (perhaps more accurately the board thereof), want to sign Milan Baros enough? We will see. The crux of the matter is presumably whether Langham's business plan is in effect (the funds for "four top quality players" etc) or whether the summer funds are Ellis's usual 4 million...
  10. I'm not utterly convinced Baros would be a good signing, he's still to really prove himself in the Premiership. He's definitely not "shit", though, as someone has said. I'm amazed so many people are so keen to get rid of Vassell, a very useful player to have coming off the bench at the very least (and streets ahead of Luke Moore at the moment).
  11. I think we'd be foolish to get rid of Vassell, although of course we could do without him. It's surprising that people want to get rid of a home-grown England international on the back of one poor, injury-plagued season. If that's so, let's get rid of Angel too while we're about it.. Noone was coming out with this stuff at the end of O'Leary's first season. Two other things - I don't think we'd get that much money for Vassell (the massively inflated prices for English players notwithstanding), and I don't have that much faith we'd get in anyone who be so much better.
  12. Obviously everything massively depends on what happens this summer. If the season started tomorrow and assuming the full fitness of all the squad, I'd say we'd finish around 13th...
  13. How much does a pirate pay to get his ears pierced? - Buck-an-ear!!!
  14. He's highly rated by almost all Newcastle fans seemingly as a model pro and decent utility player. So for a small fee, Hughes sounds like a useful addition to the squad (if we have in fact signed him)...
  15. Luke, and Stefan for that matter, would have got much more of a look in if Graham Taylor had stayed. He has a pretty good track record of developing young players. They may well both have flourished, Steven Davis too. However, we would have been in the Championship...
  16. Dec 1970, don't remember a thing...
  17. Good prospect, definitely. But no more loans please for god's sake. For the same reasons as before...
  18. Smith. Yakubu a close second, the main worry being his application. Remember any great moments him from our two games against Pompey this year? Thought not. Then again, if we signed him it would make a change from our habit of signing players who play their two best games of the year against us...
  19. However, neither are playing all that badly, in fact both often play very well (under O-Leary). Perhaps given how bad the team as a whole played under Taylor II their good performances stood out that much more?
  20. How dare you! I wouldn't buy anyone. It's like pouring money down the drain. What with this amortisation business, it'll set the club back for decades. Love, Herbert.
  21. Where did Napoleon keep his armies? In his sleevies. ...Taxi!
  22. My sentiments exactly, surprisingly enough  Agree with both of these. Hitz can come on if Barry/Hendrie/McCann fade or don't show up...
