  1. You have threw away your money then, no 'name' will be coming here (not that I really rate De Boer anyways but that is a different matter.) I can't see anyone proven out there who would work under these constraints. We will stick with what we have, hopefully Bent and Hutton gets a lucrative contract in some jokeshow league and we can add 3 very good, experienced, proven players to the squad he has assembled. Then will be the time to judge Lambert. I'm not convinced this takeover will happen. I remember letting myself dream about the QIA rumours (which I heard was started by a student in Liverpool to see how far a random rumour could spread for a dissertation) I digress but my shout for De Boer is purely based on us actually getting taken over by an uber rich guy who wants to build the club up. De boer has already said he would leave Ajax for the right project and I don't see him getting the man utd job so building up one if the founding members of the league and former euro cup winners is an ideal project in my opinion. If Lerner stays best we can hope for outside of lambert is Moyes.
  2. Don't believe the Zola for manager rumours. However Zola as head if youth development ?! I could see happening. My money is literally on De Boer
  3. I wouldn't be against moving from villa park to a more central location next to Aston University and actually in aston not Witton. but it is never going to happen. One of the reasons Everton haven't been bought yet is the fact any owner is going to have to spend hundreds of millions on building a new stadiym plus millions on new players. They just don't make financial sense to buy for that reason . So the summarise we aren't going to be leaving the perfectly good villa park for the NEC
  4. Have we always been listed on the AEG Venue website ? http://www.aeglive.co.uk/venues/2014/may/Birmingham%20Villa%20Park
  5. I've said it before and I'll say it again IF this isn't BS and is actually happening the De Beor is the perfect choice. He would invigorate this club from top to bottom. Set in stone a philosophy for all teams based on the Ajax way But I actually think the most important person we will employ this summer will be head of youth development.
  6. Not sure where to puts this and I'm in no way ITK. I'm just passing on a conversation I Had with a good friend who works for Atkins Engineering and he has heard that they have just been asked to draw up plans about lowering the pitch by a 2-3 metres and adding 3000 extra seats or so the next time the pitch is replaced (2016 he said due to the rugby WC) Not sure how that relates to a takeover but Ithere is no way (or need) Randy would stump up the $$$ for expansion considering we can't sell out with the current tripe on offer. It would take our capacity up to just over 45.000. Then with the North Stand to be replaced at some point he said 62,000 is the max we could go to, and thats with the Holte corner & Trinity corners being squared off as well. Could be bullshit as he is a Citeh fan and has been taking the piss since they have been taken over. Just thought i'd share to see if anyone else has heard something similar and apologies in advance if in fact it is false.
  7. If this supposed takeover is going ahead and a billionaire wants to waste i mean invest a large wedge of money on a project then De Boer would be perfect for us. Highly unrealistic I realise, but he could rebuild the club from top to bottom and create our own version on the Ajax ethos.
  8. Dream scenario: Phillip Anschutz buys us: appoints the right people in the right places. renames Villa Park something like AEG Villa Park or The 02 Villa Park for ££££££. Adidas replace Macron for £££££. Dafabet kicked into touch for Sony extra £££££ . £50 to £60 million spent on the squad.
  9. Cheikhou Kouyaté is the guy with mask who can play central defence and defensive midfielder, Arsenal have meant to have started talks with him for the summer. Bartłomiej Pawłowski is the polish guy on loan at Malaga from Widzew Lodz. That's the one had a complete memory blank, just could picture the face. I like the idea of signing him, pawlowski, Powell, betrand, & Locadia Achievable for £20 million, wages wouldn't be astronomical and with Given, Hutton, Bent gone We will be in a much healthier position financially and have money in the bank if an exciting signing presents itself ( Depay or Fischer for example)
  10. Powell played with Westwood at Crewe so he could put in a word. midfield 3 of those 2 plus the scary looking guy in a mask from anderlecht as the destroyer with Grealish and the polish chap (who a lot people are raving about after seeing him play a friendly and has played 6 games all season) would be an improvement on what we currently have. Depending on the opposition and tatics swap whoever for Delph.
  11. Welbeck is just a skinnier version of Heskey, players who play with him lprobabally love his work rate etc but he Just doesn't score enough goals himself. Good foil for Benteke but would be a shocking replacement
  12. I'd take Fer, Hooper & Redmond from Norwich . Though highly unlikely they would deal with us. As I said above always thought Alexander Kačaniklić has talent they also have Pajtim Kasami & Konstantinos_Mitroglou. Not sure who is take from Cardiff. Caulker is the obvious though he will go to a team higher up regardless of if they stay up.
  13. If Lowton goes I'd look at Gōtoku Sakai from Stuttgart. 23 Y /O Japanese international RB. Also always thought Fulhams Alexander Kačaniklić is a good prospect for centre mid or left wing only 22 Y/O. Like the sound of Locadia from PSV if the unfortunate happens and benteke leaves. Raw talent and unproven I know but so was Benteke and we aren't going to be able to buy a direct replacement
  14. The reported £30 grand a week he signed for is hardly mega money by premiership standards. My personal belief is the reason he hasn't even had a sniff not even in cup is that if he plays another game we are obligated to raise his wages or he would be due an automatic contract extention. And he just isn't worth it.
  15. Hooter girls serving at the kiosks would be a great distraction from the unedible shite that gets served up from them.
  16. Anyone remember if this guy was any good at Fulham ? Just released so could be worth offering a 6 month contract with option for longer if he does ok. Unless he's gak http://www.teamtalk.com/news/7555/9120997/Transfer-news-PSV-Eindhoven-defender-Stanislav-Manolev-released
  17. We will have to sell or loan out a player or two before we can buy any more. Kozak will be replaced in our 25 man squad by Holt as he is out for the rest of the season. Not sure what the deal is with Given as he is only on loan at the moment till february. I'd bet either Luna or Bennet will be leaving or dropped from our 25 man squad, my money is on Luna going back to Spain on loan. Sylla, Helenius or Bowery are the obvious candidates to me.
  18. How many peeps went to bed last night dreaming about signing Depay. Now tonight you go to bed having nightmares of grant holt
  19. mate posted this on facebook Watching a bunch of no hopers in a deprived area of Birmingham, with a bit of discipline and direction they could amount to something but society has given up on them and now they are on the scrapheap, destined just to get abuse on social media. Hopefully they'll pull one back in the second half!
  20. The same Doug Ellis who personally dismantled the euro winning team because he couldn't stand the fact he wasn't part of it. No coincidence we enjoyed one of the greatest periods of our history when he wasn't about. He himself a handsome wage for being the owner whilst investing nothing personally. Oh and ripped down the beautiful old trinity and replaced it with a stand not completely finished all that whilst letting the holte pub go to ruin. yeah what a great legacy. Not lerners fault O'neil had no plan b against man utd and players were knackered by that point of the season or lamberts lack of tactics against Bradford. Accuse him of many things but failures in the cup are nothing to do with him. He certainly wouldn't have destroyed the trinity and he invested at his personal expense for the holte pub to be refurbished and the trinity finished. But sure Doug was great ? Yes, it isn't Lerner's fault the club has no money, won't spend, has a bottom four budget, hired McLeish, hired Houllier, sacked both and had to pay a stupid fee each time, this is all O'Neills fault for having no plan b. Or Doug's fault. Or Spiderman. Didn't mention the lack of recent spending did I. Nor did I try to defend his managerial appointments as you can't, but hey how many balls up have spurs made now. My post was trying to highlight how shit Doug was as our owner and shouldn't be seen as anything but. Lerner has been our owner what for 6 years Doug was for almost 30 not really a fair comparison on tenures. And O'neil in hindsight was an awful appointment and YES he had no plan b and was only interested in the short term. Lerner should be judged in the summer with how much he backs lambert.
  21. Anything know if this guy is worth a go? Can't be worse than Sylla http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-city-transfer-news-abdisalam-2940317 Supposedly available for £250:000 and if he is good enough for Swansea he is good enough for me.

  23. I was more referring to the ability to develop the surrounding areas, and having improved infrastructure which would increase revenue streams. As QPR have just announced it could hypothetically be built around a HS2 terminal and be part of a catalyst for the city's redevelopment. Families could shop then wander to a game then easily get a train home. Having bars & restaurants and say gyms a cinema hotels and appartments in a more central location would help increase our revenue in the long term. A gleaming new & more desirable city centre location with fantastic transport links could help with luring a new generation of fans & would also help with corporate sales & sponsorship as would having a stadium that can be used for say 50 odd events a year rather than just 18 home games. The hairdresser down the road won't be around for much longer and the sty is a dump. I would be worried if they got taken over by an ambitious owner and took advantage of what could be a once in a lifetime opportunity rather than us.
  24. It's just a hypothetical question as it isn't likely to ever happen I just wanted to see what the general concensus would be and peoples views on the pros and cons . As i said i lost my personal attachment to villa park as a ground when the trinity came down. I will always have treasured memories of epic games . The games against tranmere and inter spring to mind as well as the unfortunate game with Santa falling from the roof. Since the trinity went Sheffield utd is probabally the best game I've been to for atmosphere. But even if we were to move I would still have those memories. You don't lose those when the pitch is replaced or stands. I would only accept moving if it meant the long term prospects if the club were enhanced and this would be the deal breaker it couldnt be another generic soulless emirates rip off. The holte as the central focus then 3 other stand alone stands. Capacity say 61,874 with like Bayern Munich a good proportion of cheap seats. A wild dream I know. I just wanted to change things up on here and start a different debate from the norm.
  25. Just browsing a rival site and stumbled across a thread on the pros & cons of leaving villa park for a more central location near Aston Science Park. Initially I was against the idea but sort of came round after reading the argument for. Link to thread here . http://www.astonvilla.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=7513646 I'm not saying we should at all just thought its worth discussing as we have no real transfer speculation to argue over. The potential pros are that the economic benefits could be huge. A multi use stadium for example like Schalkes Veltins Arena or the friends arena in Sweden with retractable pitch and roof could open up use for a multiple of other uses like exhibitions & concerts throughout the year whilst protecting the hallowed turf. I think a lot of fans would accept naming rights for a new ground as long as it wasn't tacky. The money from Redeveloping the old villa park site into housing or a supermarket would help offset the costs. Plus with extra revenue from the additional events and surrounding amenities like bars, restaurants gyms and a club museum and potential housing on site would help our long term growth which I don't believe villa park can. With the new FFP bullshit rules in place we need to think bold. Debt for stadiums aren't included in It. Villa park lost its soul when Doug stupidly ripped down the old trinity road stand rather than refurbish it and replace the north stand, he should never been allowed to do that do. Since then I have personally lost a lot of attachment to it as a ground. A new proposed location is still within the Aston boundaries whereas villa park is actually located in Witton. It could provide Birmingham with an iconic addition to its skyline. I'm prepared for the abuse that will probably come my way for starting this thread just thought its worth discussing the pros and cons. ( puts tin hat on)
