Yes. But things change, having played in the UK is likely a benefit. Can play either wing but plays on the RHS (is left footed). Scored 16 goals (4th highest in France last season) and 8 assists last season as a winger (that's more than Neymar for both), plays for France. He has been linked to Bayern Munich this window (and West Ham).

Luyindama allows us to play 3 at the back. Very comfortable on the ball and dynamic. Gives us option for 5-3-2 or 3-5-2 or 5-1-3-1. I think this is where Smith wants to take us, a lot of progressive teams play with 3 CB's, our signings suggest this is medium term plan?

To reiterate an earlier poster Dan Bardell said this also on the Villa View podcast today. It does fit: Maupay wants to come and play under Smith as he could walk into an offer from Sheffield or Brighton which is likely Maupay's plan B. I think he is our back up option, I think we will offer for a very talented European forward, likely a right winger as it suits our system and we also stopped at £14m for Benrahma which suggests we have eyes for that position. My money is on Florian Thauvin. You heard it here first.

No, that’s wrong, isn’t it: if you throw an infinite amount of shit at an infinite amount of monkey clocks a broken Shakespeare typewriter is right twice a day, but never on a Wednesday?

In fairness, whilst I would like Kalvin Philips and think he would be great (especially at the £15m being touted at present), Nakamba looks very useful despite being fearful he would pick up lots of bookings. Its a win-win if we get either of these two.

I don’t think anyone is certain of a start. I do think we need another forward off Wes at least away from home when we will be more defensive. Maupay fits that bill for me. I think he will become a very good player.

Quiet on the rumour front nowadays. Rumours of Kodjia to WBA. Surprised if he does, if him and Hogan go, coupled with McCormack might see us sign two more forwards. Maybe that’s Maupay and Benrahma, or a left field overseas player (Samatta)? Still think we could sign Philips yet too

Been told he can leave. Hasn't featured at all in pre-season. Is finished here.

I think we will struggle @Jas10, the problem being everyone wants a young striker prospect and you pay top dollar. Maupay and Tammy are a risk but likely to cost circa £20m. I think they are worth it. Look at Wilson at Bournouth, they took a risk and he is now ‘established’ as a young PL striker and probably £40-50m if they were to sell. It’s madness.

I can think of two: Neal Maupay (22), a decent prospect at lower division Championship club Brentford? Tammy Abraham (21), an academy product of Chelsea, hasn’t broken through and has been a loan candidate for the last 3 years? Let’s hope Dean Smith is aware of them

Yes. If the conditioning coaches slim him down a bit and add strength he will be quite an athlete. One criticism of him is he fades in matches, likely to be elite conditioning issues. Hopefully PL Villa will be sharper on this than Kasimpasa

We won’t see the best of us until after Christmas, I have no idea what our best team will look like. We still have players to come in!

El Ghazi off for Jota, swap sides with Trez. Hogan on for Davis. Lansbury on for Hourihane. Bring on Engels, Targett and Freddy at the back. Please.
