  1. I’m noticing a lot of comments along the lines of “I totally trust Unai’s opinion/judgement on (insert topic/player name) but”.

Stop talking. There is no but. He has got everything right so far, he knows far more than you or I will ever know about the game, and he knows our squad and what they are capable of.

Baring in mind the changes and complexity of modern football, he is the most skilled manager/head coach that we have ever had at our club, if you say you trust him then trust him.

I’d like us to give Leon another chance, with his mate Diaby here too…

It’s become my go to phrase now 🤣 but “Buendia and Bailey have a lot more to offer…”

We could see Berty leave and Philogene go on loan but we wouldn’t make a lot off that…

Don’t get me wrong I’m happy for Bailey to get another season, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was sold. He’s the only player in our squad that could be surplus to requirements (especially if we signed Doku) that carries any real transfer value.

Would it mean someone like Bailey being moved on?

You would think so, you would think that we need to make some sort of substantial sale to get a fee in, while we’ve got wages off the books removing dead wood it hasn’t brought in a great deal of £’s.

All the hyenas think they're coming out for our best players right now, too. It's so predictable and depressing, and I thank Emery and owners and all our previous managers who had the foresight to get some our players signed to long contracts. The arrogance in how these ridiculous stories are reported infuriates me, so I guess I do get baited by them  -- "Spurs want Luiz," "Poch has decided he wants Martinez," "Manchester United will be adding so and so to their plans," etc etc etc. Drives me batty, and if you know me, you know I don't need additional fuel for the fire in that department heheh.

Worst thing for Barry career was scoring that goal vs Liverpool. It has lead to very unrealistic expectations

I think it’s a combination of that and him coming from Barca, had we just picked him up straight from our feeder club then I don’t believe there would’ve been the same level of expectation/hype imo.

Why are you and @tomav84 so bothered by that?

It happened, Hawkeye not working was very fortunate for us. And a highly notable moment for us staying up that season.

I am bothered that a moment in a game with over an hour left to play is being made out as the only reason we stayed up. We were fortunate with Covid, and how Project Restart played out.

Long story short, I’m not debating that it was a fortunate incident, but no more so than any other refereeing mistake that happen in games every day, all over the world. To say it was the ONLY reason we stayed up damages their journalistic integrity imo.

If you mean Prowse he wouldn’t sign unless he was starting. I’d be starting him ahead of Luiz who is vastly overrated on here.

What an absolutely horrendous take, that’s almost worth blocking as you surely are just trolling with a post like that?

  8. His big issue seems to be his confidence, I thought he looked ok for the first 10 minutes or so of the second half, but unfortunately you are just waiting for that mistake to happen and it always comes. Surely he has to be replaced before the window shuts?

  9. Hopefully he gets his permanent move this summer. Decent player, unfortunately couldn’t stay fit for the first couple of years and now the level of our midfield is simply beyond his capabilities imo.

Would be a fantastic signing--confident we can get this one over the line. The Saudi stuff doesn't really worry me given the player has given us "the green light".

It’s going to become the norm now, a Saudi side’s name will be dropped in to either by the selling club to help drive the price up or the media trying to add a bit of drama.

I really want this signing. Pace is such a huge asset to have in this league. Imagine him and Ramsay either side.

    Scary.

I’m also optimistic about him helping to deliver the Leon Bailey that we thought we were getting…🤞🏻

I’m excited for the double left footer thing to drive VT wild every time we concede a goal. Can’t work out which one of them plays RCB?

That’s the beauty of it - they will BOTH play LCB leaving the RCB spot empty!

  13. I think this will be one to break our transfer record. It is getting close to being proper ‘pinch me’ stuff now with our transfers. We’ve got our big boy pants on for sure!

Still find myself puzzled at the admiration for Joao Felix. He did well for Benfica a few years ago, sure, but since then has been, at best, OK. There are enough reports I've seen about his personality -- and granted, some of these may be incorrect -- that seem very red flag. Why would we want to bring a fairly middling forward with a top-flight ego to Villa without the stellar record to back up the entitlement? I just don't think we need the distraction. I guess others are able to see amazing potential, but based on what?

You just wanted to post the video didn’t you?
