  1. It takes the pressure off his batting but runs will come. I think they will stick with Jordan and Woakes next test. Onions is out of the picture for good I think. They are looking at younger options.
  2. I know and they didn't treat Naquash Tahir very well either. At that time I don't think the people we had were very good at working with asian cricketers. Moeen was in the side in 2006 and made top score at Trent Bridge and was dropped, George Dobell was a big Moeen fan and was told by Greatbatch that he wouldn't be a first team player for 5 years. Of course his cousin Kabir and brother Kadeer also started their careers at warwickshire.
  3. He wouldn't have waited until he was 27 before making his test debut if he had of stayed with us
  4. He's still getting drift and 'revs', though (from what it seems and from what the players and commentators have been saying). Often when spinners bowl quicker they just bowl flat and straight which tends to make them less dangerous - Moeen's increase of a few mph seems to have made him more dangerous and less easy to just push around for a single. As I said before, I wonder whether some of that has come from Ajmaal (or at least from him watching Ajmaal). Of course, it helps if you're bowling with a few hundred lead on the board but I don't think we should underestimate his performance on the last day of the So'ton test as there was a fair bit of pressure on him. Maybe some from Ajmal but mainly from Bell who he has practiced a lot with and told him he needed to bowl quicker in test cricket than county cricket. Knows him well from his Warwickshire days as well.
  5. Yes the way he is going he'll be bowling 90 mph by next summers ashes. I like him to bowl the odd slower one still though..
  6. Yes India were poor but to get 9 wickets in a session without Broad was great and Moeen once again doing the business. I just hope Moeen can get runs next test because he's a class batsman. I knew he had some talent with the ball but i am astounded how well he has done.
  7. The only reason i feel any degree of optimism is having Okore and Nzog back. We have signed nobody that has cost any money and the free transfers I'm not excited about one bit. I think unless we get new owners before the january window its going to be another struggle against relegation.
  8. Problem is this generation of Indian cricketers don't get any experience of English conditions. Before the likes of Dravid, Gangully, Laxman all played county cricket...
  9. Yes I think that will be plenty.
  10. He got a good ball. It would have got many lefthanders out. His place is not under threat.
  11. Whilst Boycott maybe old he is very knowledgeable about the game and TMS would be worse for not having him. Its good also to have a recent England captain on like Vaughan for his incite. Tufnell is the one that bugs me. Decent spinner but a joke as a cricketer and doesn't offer much to tms in my opnion. Great morning for England. I think we may have won the test in the first two hours here,
  12. not many at edgbaston today. Pretty poor reply by us really. Only Evans can take anything out of it and he gave his wicket away because of lack of runs coming at the other end.
  13. Have never looked forward to a season less., as rendelc said 16th - 20th.
  14. This is the most horrible one i can remember.
  15. A fantastic team performance to go to Chelmsford and beat Essex. That must be the best Clarke has ever batted in t20.
  16. Yes would the result have been different with Ajmal and Moeen in the team.
  17. Its been around since time began
  18. Yes Trott is exceptional in 50 over cricket...
  19. Was that last wicket the doosra? Great win. Whats that 15 wickets in the series for Moeen. Swann got 14 in 2011..
  20. Hales is not a bad call because if you look at the top 3 they are all pretty pedestrian. Ok Ballance does speed up well when he gets in but Hales maybe like a right handed Trescothick or as you say a Warner and get us off to a flyer.. I'd give Robson this series and see how he does before changing though. We may have to make some changes for Old Trafford. I think Anderson might get a suspension and they may want to pick a left arm spinner. So three seamers with Moeen and Kerrigan. Its what i think they may do at Old Trafford anyway.
  21. Cook made some good decisions today... Very pleased Moeen is making a significant contribution with the ball. Would be nice if Woakes could get a wicket or two tomorrow. No all can not be forgotten AVfc96 but its a new team and theres a lot of positives to take from this test.
  22. The ashes normally sell and I bet an India test match at edgbaston would have sold out the first three days at least.. Having 8 test match venues and this bidding war for matches dictates prices....
  23. Its the quality of the 5 that are out thats the problem.
  24. I agree Woakes has bowled reasonably well but he hasn't looked very threatening and its all about the wickets column. With Plunkett and Stokes ready to come back then he needs wickets second innings... Maybe he's trying to bowl too quick and not gettng the ball in the right place enough times. Also he hasn't swung it much compared to Anderson..Jordan has been awful. Maybe the pressure of test cricket is the difference...No matter what people say about Mooen's bowling, he has a golden arm. Should have had Rahane out for 9 when he gloved it too Butler... impressed with Butler's keeping . He has improved a lot
  25. He played the short ball pretty well the day he batted all day against Sri Lanka.... I've never noticed him having a problem in county cricket with it. I think its just him. he gets out softly at times...But you are right, he will be targetted so needs to just learn how to duck...
