what was the lie? They showed a picture of "thousands of unsold Land Rovers" The picture they showed was Land Rover's gaydon site which is used as a distribution centre and so in fact, it's completely the opposite. Those cars were there BECAUSE they were sold. And Jaguar Land Rover only make cars to order anyway (on the majority of occasions) so they would never end up with these fields of unsold vehicles.
  2. I'll respond, even though I'm not sure it needs answering. Ian was clearly responding to the "city" part of the name, i.e. Birmingham CITY. We have a rare name as we don't use city or united or harriers or wanderers. As do Everton. Obviously every name is unique, and Ian's terminology isn't technically right, but we all know what he meant. As did you I would imagine... Edited for pedantry's sake.

Only just seen Sunday's episode on Sky + Not very happy with them as they told a bare faced lie about Land Rover!
  4. indeed. the whole country would just be euphoric. Even some women! I'd be celebrating with my mates for days, most (all) of whom aren't Villa fans. the country would get such a massive feel good boost from it. Pubs would benefit immensely. Must I point out the part that made me surprised enough to quote...? It would help, but i'll take a wild guess that it's the party about wimmin? just to extrapolate: I've followed England quite a bit, and, in my experience, the further england progress in a competition like the world cup, the more wimmin i see gradually coming out to support them (albeit in the pub, often with their blokes and mates). these are usually women who, in my experience, for 99% of the time have no interest in football whatsoever. They also don't tend to have watched the earlier games, or the qualifiers. But when the Gen Public get whipped up into a nationalistic frenzy becuase the buys are doing well in the WC, every man (and woman) and his/her dog seem to come out to watch. This is based on a few QF's and a Semi. Imagine the frenzy if we ever got to the final. Even some women!!!! lol.... I think there are more than you think. And you may think they have no interest in football before the England games, but you may be surprised. I get it all the time... People thinking Im in the pub watching the game for the one match - when I tell them I'm actually a Season Ticket holder, I get the look of disbelief. I think what he meant were "some women" who normally wouldn't have an interest but get excited during the world cup. And there are a lot of them. A lot of blokes too mind you.
  5. I think id rather win the Premier League than the Champions League. In fact, i know i would. Ditto. Any out of a numebr of teams can win the champions league with the format it has now. it takes something a lot more special to win the prem.
  6. Villa every day of the week. Not even a question. I'd love England to win the world cup, but it would make me nowhere even close to as happy as Villa winning the league.
  7. The voice of "Shredder" in the cartoon, Teenage Mutant Ninja (hero) Turtles is James Avery, aka Uncle Phil from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
  8. Best player of all time....so yes, without question.
  9. No, they are a nothng club. Just saying, that the two main points you've brought up don't really have anything to back them up. Other than they are an opinion of mine obviously Of course, and you're entitled to it. I am however, and correct me if I'm wrong, entitled to dispute that opinion with one of my own, which I have done.
  10. No, they are a nothng club. That have finished above us the last two seasons. Which is why I think labelling them as overrated doesn't make sense. No-one rates them as a top 4 team, which is the only way they can really be overrated. Overachieving would make sense, but not overrated, imo.
  11. No, they are a nothng club. Just saying, that the two main points you've brought up don't really have anything to back them up.
  12. Spot on Rob. Very over rated side. I think most people rate them as a top 6 side, possibly top 8, which they have been consistently. I don't think anyone really rates them as a top 4 team, which is really the only way they can be overrated?! Richard, one man team, overrated?! Do you just hate them?
  13. Phil Neville is one of my most hated players ever. He was the epitome of "in the england team because he plays for the big 4" when he was at Utd (that mantle has been taken up by Wes Brown now) Hate the word removed
  14. I don't think Sidwell, Barry or Petrov are better than Arteta to be honest. In fact I'd say only Barry at his best is better than Chaill out of those 3.
  15. I'd say yes. if there's no doubt they are guilty and it's a crime worthy of it then I think it would be a huge deterrent. Also if I was in charge then Prisons would be hell on earth, which would also be a deterrent.
  16. Are you Gabby, are you gabby, are you gabby in disguise?...
  17. Well i disagree. As AG pointed out they had him issing for a huge chunk of last season and finished 5th. They are no more a one man team with Cahill as we are a one man team with Ashley Young. In fact I'd argue we are more reliant on Ashley Young than Everton are on Cahill.
  18. The fact that I can't figure out which "one man" you are referring to suggests you may be wrong.
  19. The yak is a bit like Berbatov in that respect, and le Tiss before them. Yes they don't really work hard and could be preceived as "lazy" but they are natural finishers. As good as gabby's finishing is becoming, I don't think we have anyone inour team who is on that natural finishing ability as the likes of Yak etc.
  20. Exactly, but Jags is better soo :winkold: Oh and I can guarentee soon, you'll all be wanting big Mo Fellaini 8) I've been very impressed with Fellaini. I was worried for you atf first that he was a bit of a "O look he was good against liverpool so lets buy him" sort of purchase, but he's looked very decent imo.
  21. And probably the fact that our teams are very similar. So where as Davies might be better than Jagielka (not saying he is, just giving an example) there wouldn't be very much in it, and you would prefer to keep your player even if he was slightly less good, because he is your player. Dunno if that made any sense
  22. Improve our squad? We currently have players like Salifou and Knight on the Bench. Are you saying players like Cahill, Arteta and Jagielka, even if they didn't make our first 11 (Which Cahill and Arteta most likely would), wouldn't improve our squad? Lets put it another way, there isnt a player in Evertons first team squad that would start a game for us if all our squad was fit, they might have players that would improve our bench I reckon Arteta would be in with a decent chance of playing the offensive player in a 4-3-3. Yup, i think Cahill Arteta and yakubu and even saha would feel hard done by if they weren't regularly starting for us. Also, as much as I love Bouma, Lescott would be pusshing for a left back spot.
