  1. Bloody epic stuff in the judo there. Last second and she goes through.
  2. That was a great finish to the race. I think we could have won gold there though if they had set off sooner. Plus if the start and middle had been better. Still, I can't really grumble at a lovely silver medal.
  3. Suarez was a complete disgrace last night. Moaning and cheating for the entire match. Then he has the audacity to say this: Anyway, back to today now. Hopefully we will have a few more medals by the end of the day. We should be able to get something from the rowing to kickstart the day and the action gets going in the velodrome later.
  4. We beat Uruguay there and it was actually a reasonably good performance.
  5. We're winning 1-0 in the footy, Sturridge scores again.
  6. Great swim from Jamieson there and a fully deserved silver. He kept a great pace too as the winner broke the WR and he was only slightly behind.
  7. Peterborough: Olejnik, Brisley, Zakuani, Swanson, Barnett, McCann, Kearns, Newell, Little, Knight-Percival, Taylor. Subs: Day, Bostwick, Farrell, Tomlin, Ajose, Harris, Nthle, Grant.
  8. VILLA: Given, Baker, Ireland, N'Zogbia, Herd, Delph, Carruthers, Weimann, Johnson, Stevens, Lichaj. Subs: Guzan, Marshall, Lowton, Warnock, El Ahmadi, Holman, Burke, Clark, Delfouneso, Bannan.
  9. Time for our third gold medal of the day shortly (hopefully). 200m swimming is on at 19:30. Should be a good race with two medal hopes in it.
  10. Getting a winger shouldn't be priority in my opinion. We have players that can do a job there if needed. Albrighton, Carruthers and N'Zogbia. Plus Ireland, Bannan and Gabby (when fit) can play there if needed. Sure, it would be nice to have a quality winger come in but I think upfront is a bigger issue. The perfect fit would be someone like Sturridge, as he can be used as both a winger and a forward. Basically we need another goalscorer to help Bent out. Weimann could be that man but we don't know that for sure yet.
  11. I would love it if we sign Sturridge, yet I just can't see him coming to us. Big loss having Gabby out for a few weeks anyway. Hopefully Weimann and/or the Fonz can step up in his absence. We really could use another goalscorer though to go alongside Bent. Thus allowing for the development of players like Weimann and the Fonz.
  12. This. Whilst I think Vlaar and Clark could potentially be a good partnership in the future, I'm not sure if it will work right away. It would have been nice to have Dunne alongside one of them and to work the other one in. Now they will be have to be thrown in at the deep end. Hopefully they will both do well. It's a tall order though for them both to gel straight away...
  13. I've been looking forward to seeing Ted, yet I'm currently stuck in bed with a cold so will have to give it a miss for a few days. Hopefully I'll be alright by the weekend. I think it looks pretty funny and I'm a fan of Family Guy so I'm expecting a few laughs.
  14. It's a strange feeling wanting Murray to win. I don't like it...
  15. Lineker just said this on Twitter too. Surely there should be no doubt that he'll get the award as he fully deserves it. Plus a knighthood no doubt.
  16. Magical stuff from Wiggins and there's that second gold of the day. It does indeed look like we could be on for three golds with the swimming still to come.
  17. One is being paid to fix a match and one is doing your best to win a gold medal. No, they weren't actually. They were playing badly to get a better draw. One could go as far as saying they were actually throwing the game.
  18. Not the same at all Very similar. Care to explain what the big difference is?
  19. No it wouldn't be and that's basically what has happened here.
  20. 1) Badminton team messing up serves on purpose to change the course of a game. 2) Grobbelaar letting in goals to change the course of a game. There isn't really a huge difference between the two as they both change the outcome of a game and both involved effectively throwing it. Sure, you can go down the route of Grobbelaar being paid to do so and that would be when it turns into match fixing. Yet the two aren't that far apart when you look at it in this way. Or is it a different case just because they weren't paid to throw the game?
  21. Eh? :? It's not nothing like it at all. The match was/is not fixed. 2 teams both played to lose, as opposed to 2 teams both playing to win. Both teams wanted to 'lose'. So where's the fix? Yes it is exactly like match fixing. I didn't say it was fixed. I said "pretty much the same thing", which it clearly is.
  22. Surely it's pretty much the same thing as match fixing? That isn't allowed so I agree that this shouldn't be. At least if you're going to do it then don't make it blatantly obvious. They did and are being punished for it...
  23. Yep, they're out of here. Serves them right to be fair...
  24. who are the others? Wiggins in the cycling. Then Jamieson and Willis in the swimming. Plus an outside chance for Purvis in the gymnastics. Possibly Pooley and Amitstead in the women's cycling too, although that may be a bit of a reach. Certainly medal prospects.
  25. They did well but the Germans were far too strong. They should really have held on for the silver, yet a bronze is still great. Nice to see us winning medals today. Still on track for three golds today.
