  1. Interesting. Is that 5% of season ticket value available to use in the Villa shops or 5% off my next season ticket?
  2. Has CB not scored against Premier League teams previously?
  3. Do you think suitors will arise because a striker valued at £25m+ scored a hat-trick in a friendly game against lower league opposition?
  4. Exactly. 22 league goals next season will be more than acceptable.
  5. Would it be too much if the club sent a shirt with GEORGE on it?!
  6. I agree entirely. My reference to Cameron was not political in any respect.
  7. One can always Google, but I think you'll find that William's mentor (kind of a life coach) was a Villa fan so, as he had no other footballing influence (and as he said he didn't want to pick an 'obvious' club), he's always followed Villa as well. I think it's a lot more than Cameron's so-called following. I think you need to back this up with a bit of evidence, particularly since you seem unaware of D Cameron's connection with the club (i.e. his uncle used to own us). I am and was aware of Cameron's historic connection to the club. My evidence is two TV interviews he did when leader of the opposition. He may have become a less bashful follower as PM.
  8. If Wills is a proper husband, his wife would support his club by now.
  9. Cameron supports us because his uncle used to be chairman of the club from 1975-82 Cameron's been pictured at a couple of our matches (in London). He's so working class. I'm aware of the above, but he's never been that convincing about his 'support' when quizzed - always seemed to be half embarrassed (preying they don't ask him to explain the offside rule?) and half in denial (well they're not that good are they...).
  10. If our poor pre-season continues but we somehow manage to get some points in the first few games, will they take the points off us. No? Well there's your answer to thread.
  11. Been decent before and since the issue for me.
  12. How is that different from a release clause? Well it isn't contractually binding so..........pretty different So it's an unofficial promise to let him leave provided the bid is high enough? Sounds like this summer when he didn't go anywhere.
  13. Yep, his mentor was at the school, I believe.
  14. Agree. I watched him play at Villa Park in the NextGen and he was good. When he made an error his pace soon corrected it!
  15. How is that different from a release clause?
  16. The only reason I've ever seen given for Wills supporting us is when he said "It's kind of in the middle of the country, isn't it". Good enough for me, your Royal Highness! One can always Google, but I think you'll find that William's mentor (kind of a life coach) was a Villa fan so, as he had no other footballing influence (and as he said he didn't want to pick an 'obvious' club), he's always followed Villa as well. I think it's a lot more than Cameron's so-called following.
  17. They can ask but they won't always get. I'll be surprised if CB's agent forgot to ask.
  18. I agree entirely. Our best chance of keeping CB beyond this season and possibly next, is to surround him with players who are as good, or almost, in their position as CB is in his. As TRO said, that will require several players to up their game significantly. I can see that happening with two or three current players but we may need more than that.
  19. If agents are trawling these forums....our masterstrokes ain't going to last long. can't we just keep schtum on some things as sensitive as this. Not sure if serious? Firstly, the 'no sell-on clause' news is out, beyond fan forums. Secondly I can't see agents picking up advice from such posts - "Oh, that's a good idea, I'll ask for one of those sell-on clause things".
  20. Villa can set his value as high as they want, but will the bids match it? Is there a possibility of CB being with us for two more years because of this? How the WC affects his value will be interesting - 1) Belgium don't get out of the group and CB misses a couple of 'sitters' = his value goes down; 2) CB scores one or two goals in the group games = his value remains or increases slightly; 3) CB scores 4+ goals taking his country to the later rounds = his value increases significantly. I think the most likely is 2, followed by 3 and 1. Whether CB is with Villa during the WC will be down to whether a CL club takes a massive punt on him prior. Either way the great news for Villa is he ain't going cheap!
  21. If Benteke has another good season and excels in the World Cup i would hope we would be in a better position to keep him There are so many scenarios possible, including second season syndrome, but a couple based on CB performing well are: CB scores 20+ league goals but a continued leaky defence stops us at mid-table - CB wants to move but what value do Villa set? He might have to stay at Villa if no club bids his value (£30m??). We've seen it this summer, it could happen next summer. CB's goals contribute to a sixth place finish (can't see any higher this year). Will CB still want to stay? I don't think he will. Then with 3 years left on his contract we are back to seeing if any club meets his value to us. I'd love CB to want to stay with us longer but which is more likely of these two situations? - Villa finish in the top 5 and CB turns down a move after Villa accept a large bid or CB has an average season and doesn't get any offers that match his current contract?
  22. Traditionally there is a North-South divide with Villa in North Birmingham and Blues in South Birmingham. But because we are the bigger club, we have a lot of fans in South Brum but they don't have many fans in North Brum. Well on FIFA we have 82,989 fans and they have 22,706 fans so maybe 3 times bigger? Closer to four times!
