  1. Some terrible posts on here today.. Mclaren has won more trophies than Hughes, yes....the league cup and the dutch league, brilliant, maybe we should get Macleish then as he won the league cup this year!!! Everton job no bigger than Fulham, come on, when did you start watching football, last season?? Mclaren's win rate at boro was 38.8% at Wolfsburg it was 23.8%.....just the guy we need ffs!
  2. WHY? What in the name of **** christ has he done that makes him a good candidate? Let's see. He let Loew sort out the German team for WC 06 while he played to the cameras the whole time. Oh and he was a failure at Bayern. Yes. What a fan-****-tastic choice for next Villa manager! Give me 100 McClarens ahead of Klinnsman thx This.. he created a youth movement to breathe life into an aging squad on the heels of a disastrous showing at Euro 2004. this... He announced a squad of young players for the 2006 World Cup, basing his selection policy on performance, not reputation. this... Afterward, Franz Beckenbauer, previously a strident critic of Klinsmann's, declared his desire to see Klinsmann continue as coach. There was also widespread public support for Klinsmann due to his team's spirit and attacking style of play. The team's strong performance is thought by some to have renewed national pride and restored Germany's reputation as a top footballing nation. Due to his success coaching the national team, Klinsmann was awarded the Bundesverdienstkreuz. He was even referred to as "Kaiser", a term meaning "emperor" in German, usually reserved for German footballing greats, e.g. Franz Beckenbauer. this... Klinsmann helped design a new player development and performance center for Bayern and then launched into molding the team for the Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League campaigns. Under his guidance, Bayern reached the quarter final of the Champions League, losing to eventual champion FC Barcelona. and this... Bayern’s record during the 2008/2009 UEFA Champions League was 6 wins, 3 draws, and 1 loss (to Barcelona). In the Bundesliga, Bayern was only 3 points out of first place, with 5 matches to play, when Klinsmann was replaced as head coach due to a difference of opinion with the club’s Board of Directors ----------------G---W---D---L---%--- Total Career 79 45 17 15 56.96% A total win ratio of almost 57%, i think thats pretty damn good! your last line in your post sums you up to be honest, i don't think anyone on here wants 1 Mclaren and here you are saying you would take 100....come clean now, are you Steve Mclaren in disguise??
  3. Am i the only one pressing f5 at the minute?? didn't think so....
  4. I hope you're watching then mjames and keep us all posted!!!
  5. almost 3am........ come on everyone lets al pray for Jurgen at the same time.....
  6. Hi General, i was just reading that Jurgen Klinsmann was Randy original choice of manager before MON was appointed by Deadly and was just wondering if there was any truth in that? If that was the case i would love Randy to go back to his original choice as i think he would be the ideal candidate to take the club forward. What he did with Germany and Bayern speaks for itself and he could establish the club for success for years to come....and he has premiership experience! keep the faith! UTV
  7. well i'll be up at 3am....well 3am in England, midday here in Aus......come on NottingVilla, tell me that the exclusive is Klinsmann coming......Correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't he live in the US or at least spend a lot of time there? makes total sense then that the Yank paper has the exclusive... That's it, i've talked myself into it....50 quid going on Klinsmann as next manager! sod it make that 100!!!! :notworthy:
  8. Please, please, please let Klinsmann be the one getting interviewed! Been my number 1 pick for a long time and even lat summer he was the one i wanted in. brilliant with the youth and plays great football to watch. has the experience from playing in the premiership so meets the criteria...... Come on Randy, you know it makes sense!
  9. i would love to see Klinsmann at Villa, he is my 1st choice. What he did with Bayern and then Germany shows what he could do with Villa. My Choices would be 1. Klinsmann 2. Ancelotti 3. Hughes If we get Rafa i will not be a happy camper. If we get Mclaren......god i can't even think about that. through all the ups and downs over the last season or so i have always tried to look positive and backed the board, the manager and everyone at the club. I couldn't back Mclaren, as far as i can see he is the worst manager i have ever known, i would lose my faith if this happened. Please Randy & co. don't let me question my faith.....
  10. Agree 100% with this. these were my 3 choices last season and they still are! Disagree 100% with this one though
  11. The only words i would change for Stand by me are "Oh Darling, Darling" to " We're Villa, Villa", i think that would work pretty well. Having said that though i also like Bells are ringing. 2 other suggestions. 1. Should we get a poll set up and have a vote? 2. To get this going at games we could ask the club to either place songsheets on seats or put the lyrics on the screen so everyone can sing along, and to also play the original over the PA. The General has mentioned in his thread that the club are behind getting an anthem so i'm sure they'd help.
  12. Don't think this has been posted yet, if it has sorry and please take it off... Clicky A good little read...
  13. Thanks srsmith. Happy to share when i can. "I was told on the training pitch. We were doing team shape and the manager read the team out and said 'Hoggy - you're in centre midfield and I want you to mark Fletcher'. Was wondering if this thread would be more suited in the main forums though along with all the other player threads? I think he deserves it after that decent debut...
  14. I'm not holding my breath, you can tell the type of people they are by what they post... I think the lad did well for a 1st start against a team like Utd. As was mentioned before you didn't see him much, but then you never saw Makele and he was rated very highly. And how much did you see Carrick and Fletcher??? Job well done in my books.
  15. Haven't noticed Fletcher either, which would suggest to me the Hogg is doing his job well.. Decent 1st half, very promising stuff for the future!
  16. Thanks Nuremburg, but please don't call me Aussie, i was born and lived in Staffordshire for almost 30 years...and i know which team i will be cheering in the ashes too! lol Fingers crossed he has a blinder today.. UTV
  17. I wouldn't have posted if i didn't have a reliable source... Fingers crossed he has a good game though!
  18. Yes, it's from a very good source within the club, so i would be amazed if he was wrong.. Have to agree though, that's some debut for a kid! Houllier must think highly of him thou.
  19. What's disgusting about that? Obviously GH rates him so give the kid a chance. GH thinks he is the only player in the squad that can cover the yardage that Fletcher puts in. be nice to see another kid getting a run out in my opinion.
  20. Will start in Centre Mid against United as GH thinks he is the only player in the squad that can mark Fletcher and cover the necessary yardage that Fletcher does! Just something a little dickie bird told me...
  21. Myquestion is, General, will you be going to the pre-season tournament next year in Hong Kong? I've already booked my time off as its not too far for me and a good friend of mine is the Club Secretary at Blackburn so will be able to catch up with him and give him a good ribbing when we beat them!! :-)
  22. Hi General, Was just going through my outlook calendar when i thought it would be a great idea if you could download one of those from the OS, had a look on there but i couldn't find anything. Would this be something that the web guys could add on?? Cheers!
  23. Hi General, Just wanted to say i think you and Randy are doing a great job at the club we all love and i believe that the few voices that you are hearing on here being rude and spouting rubbish, do not reflect the view of the vast majority of Villa fans! You must also know that this is a public forum and i wouldn't be too surprised if there aren't a couple of fans from that small club down the road posting on here to stir things up! please bear that in mind!! My question to you is regarding the posts on here. Do you think it is the minority or majority of fans that are being fickle? I use the word fickle as anyone that has supported Villa for a while will know that these are far from the dark days of our previous regime.... oh and please please please ask Randy to talk to Jurgen Klinnsman, his work with the youth at Germany and Bayern was excellent and look at what they both achieved last year based on what he started but wasn't allowed to finish! And he is a free agent!! Oh and he played in England for a couple of years so has the experience ;-)
  24. Yes because everything is that simple. Forget the whole think before you act, it's irrelevant. :notsure: You don't just take the managerial job because it's Aston Villa ffs. Of course you do!! Aston Villa FC are 'supposed' to be one of the biggest clubs in the world. Despite the obviois financial restraints, it still amazes me that many more managers haven't thrown their hat in the ring to manage such a big club. For me, much as I like KM, he just doesnt come accross as passionate enough. To dither around deciding if it is the 'right move' for him after being at the club for the last 16 years shocks me. He has sat in the shadows so to speak watching, and probably disagreeing with previous managers tactics, transfers and training and MUST have thought, 'I could do better, I would LOVE to have a go at that job'.. Shame he doesnt show it in his interviews.. 1) Football management changes you life. Less time with family and friends. 2) Football management can cause major health issues. 3) If he fails he could leave the club he's served for so long altogether. 4) He needed to know if he was capable. 5) He needed to know if he'd enjoy it. How how you not considered these points? There are many more too. You don't just take or do something without thinking about it first. In any situation that changes your life you would spend a good time thinking about it first if you had any SENSE. Finally a sensible post on here. Spot on in my opinion. I can't understand all the negativity on here towards the board since MON left us in the lurch, yet most seem to think it is the board to blame! do you want Randy and the General to go and buy the players from their knowledge or would you rather wait till a manager is in place and let him spend? K Mac has put his name forward and will be considered, the fact that there is a lack of decent managers available is not the boards fault, unless we can get someone like Jol, Klinsmann, Moyes (the 3 best options IMO) then i would take K Mac any day over Curbs, Big Sam, Southgate etc. We really are the most fickle fans in England.....
