  1. Gabby's form surprisingly dipped when he was struggling with injuries, being played out of position and playing in a shit team. He has always had bad games but if Lambert plays him to his strengths and he is fit he will perform.
  2. What a load of bollocks! On the day that Lambert says he hopes to do some more business this idiot tweets that!
  3. It would also go on for a very long time, probably until sometime during the second half.
  4. Platitudes are the root of all evil. It reminds me of the Sphinx in Mystery Men. "He who questions training only trains himself at asking questions." He who walks though airport turnstile sideways is going to Bangkok I asked ICOGNITO AVFC what that all meant. I got no reponse. So mysterious. Well actually in my view it was all cryptic waffle.
  5. That music is used on X Factor and every other crap reality TV programme. No thank you.
  6. I think we should choose Black Sabbath and stick to it. No more changing the music every other season. I like Wake Up by Arcade Fire too but Sabbath is connected to Villa and sounds menacing! Please everyone vote for it every single week.
  7. Good I wouldn't want such a miserable git walking around in a Villa shirt. I will buy it because it doesn't look bad at all. Hard for me to see any difference between Nike quality and this in a picture. I will buy because I am an Aston Villa supporter and beleive the club are trying to right the wrongs of the last 2 years......... UTV We have a difference of opinion on the new kit so I'm branded a miserable git, and on my birthday. Thanks! By the way I don't see how the new kit has anything to do with righting the wrongs of the last two years. Nonsense! Phil first of all happy birthday. :birthday: However I do think you should read your own words carefully. 1st of all you say you say would have brought a shirt last year if it wasn't for McLeish. Then when I say I am buying one this year because of PL and the effort Villa seem to be putting into sorting things out you say that is nonsense. What did Aston Villa's manager have to do with last years shirt? Nothing - but you didn't buy it because you were pissed off with him. What does PL have to do with this shirt? Nothing - but I am buying it because I am happy with club. If my purchase is nonsense then your non purchase is totally nonsense. Based upon your criteria for shirt buying should you not be buying one this year or are you also upset about PL as manager? Just saying..... Thanks for the birthday wishes! As for the shirt debate, having seen the second image of it I have mellowed and think it's OK. Like you, Lambert's arrival has reinstated my blind faith and if it continues I might completely back down and buy one. I would still prefer us to have a top manufacturer like Nike supply our kits as, more than anything, their training wear is better. Having seen the Macron gear in the club shop, I'm not overly impressed. Just to clarify, I didn't buy last season's kit as I refused to give the club any money in protest of them employing McLeish. I stuck to my word and went to one game (which cost me nothing). As for the away kit, I have seen it and it is garish! And the rumour is not far from the truth!
  8. The away kit is very different.
  9. I wonder what the reaction will be to the away kit... Hmmm 8)
  10. The away kit will be more talked about than the home.
  11. It looks better in the above pic but I stand by my opinion on the training wear, which looks OK but is cheap quality and expensive for what it is.

  13. I can only guess it is overhyped because they know they are flogging a dead horse. I was open minded about Macron (after early reservations) but I'll get a new scarf instead.
  14. I used to buy every kit we had in blind faith. Then one day (you could argue it is me getting tighter or more cynical with age) I stopped. I would have bought last season's, had McLeish not been in charge. But there is no way I am buying this. It looks cheap and no better than the kits Macron supply to teams like Boston and Yeovil. Certainly not worth £45. Poor job Villa and Macron. Also if anyone has seen the training wear in the club shop you will notice that also looks really cheap and certainly not as good quality as what Nike supplied and no cheaper.
  15. Random. What's (the hugeley overrated) Akinfeev got to do with anything? He's good on Football Manager. In all seriousness, I am a huge fan of Friedel and believe he's the best keeper we've had in the last 30 years. As for Given, he's a decent replacement but not quite as good. Good enough though and still one of the best in the Prem.
  16. we did sound out other managers though, i saw it on the world wide whelan Through the goings on between Martinez and Liverpool found out that Villa spoke to RM on at least 2 occasions. One of these times must of been before LFC had approached big gob Whelan. Like FSG it sounds like Lerner wanted to initially speak with a host of candidates and then take it from there and not put all his eggs in one basket from what I've been told and reading all the stuff and info on here. Which backs up my argument that I put to Self. Too many journos report their hunches as 'fact' because they think they know everything. There are some gooduns out there however!
  17. To be fair Lambert is no lover of the media - most of his post match interviews (particularly with the BBC & Sky) are very much the same. He also seemed to have a particular hatred for Stuart Jarrold from Sky who covered our Friday pressers and always gave him short shrift. However he seemed to develop a bit of a rapport with the BBC Local radio guy in Norwich and his interviews with him always seemed more natural I've had the pleasure of being in his company when theres not a camera around and hes anything but a dour Scot. The bloke has stories galore & would make a great after dinner speaker one day He does rotate a lot, more so last season that others, and I've been critical of him for that. There were times last season when he seemed to make changes to starting XI's for the sake of it and then have to change after 10/15 mins when it was clear things weren't working. That said, he always goes all out to win games, which is how we made it to the prem with something like 18 goals in the last 10 mins of games in the championship. Last season we took a couple of pastings against Man City (1-5 & 1-6) but conceded 7 goals in the last 15 mins of those games as we continued to go at them. Our fans applauded the team off after they did us 1-6 at home, not sure whether that would happen at VP!! He hasnt had any experience of signing big players, but he's played with world class players at Dortmund (admits himself he was the worst player in the dressing room) and learned a lot from Hitzfeld who he has taken a lot of advice from. I doubt that will be an issue Hope this helps KA The only negative comment I heard from a TV reporter about PL was 'they can't wait to see the back of him in Norfolk'. Turns out he was talking about the media. Who cares eh? If he does a good job he can refuse to do interviews for all I care.
  18. Well Swansea want assistant manager Graeme Jones as their new boss. Cue Whelan spouting off again!
  19. = meh Well for a start Janine Self claims Lambert was third choice, which is contrary to what I've ears pretty much everywhere else. So I have gone to the trouble of telling her that on Twitter. She works for world class newspaper The People for a reason! She's replied to me. Basis of her claim is that they sounded out other managers. 1+1=459.75432. Now that is rubbish journalism for you.

  21. To be honest fuse these were my gripes, but as usual we are stuck with it so we will have to back him. I really thought we would have been smart enough to get a manager with some vibe to him who could bring that feel good factor back and have some creativity with transfers. We've gone the safe and boring route as usual, as I suspect this manager will. :? Your both what I hate about some Villa fans, never happy, never satisfied, part of the poisonous band of miserable gits that linger around Villa Park. Instantly on the clubs back. It makes no difference that football people, with knowledge and experience, rate him as one of the best young managers around. No, lets be upset at the fact he doesn't tell jokes at his press conferences, and he's not from Brazil and called Paulinio Lamberto. Everyones has a right to an opinion, but there's a bunch at Villa that just need to do one. If you check my posts i'm actually one of the more supportive and positive fans, I don't see how expressing my opinion is a sign of me getting on the clubs back or the managers. This kind of reminds me of when we had the chance to invest in some real quality and were on the verge of champions league and signed Heskey. Solid, but bland and unspectacular. I am by no means writing off the appointment. Mark Hughes name wasnt Markinho Hughsino at the time i wanted him here etc. and yes, i would rather pay 6 million for Roberto Champotta from(made up name) from Columbia as a pose to 12 -15 million for Stewart Downing just for arguments sake. of course I'm going to give the manager and see what he brings to the table ffs. I even gave mcleisg more of a chance than most! :? If we'd appointed Hughes we'd have struggled, Heskey was brought in to bolster the squad and not as our saviour and signing a random Columbian over an England international who we made a profit on does not sound like good business sense. Based on your predictions and the fact I believe we will see real change under his stewardship, I predict Lambert will be a huge hit.

Everyones has a right to an opinion, but there's a bunch at Villa that just need to do one. Could not agree more!!! So many Villa fans do not have realistic expectations for the club and are never, ever happy! Same people who didn't think O'Neill was good enough... Agree with this. We could argue about O'Neill's faults till the cows come home but some of our so called fans start moaning far too quickly and for no reason. I will never forget the bloke who used to sit behind me and shouted at Brad Friedel, calling him 'a bald headed clearing in the woods'. Disgraceful.
  23. If the cap fits........ Well, following the laws of physics, gravitationally speaking, Micky Quinn was not a sportsman, just a big lump that somehow managed to run around a bit. He works for Talksport who spend 24 hours a day moaning about one thing or another. Maybe Villa fans do moan a lot but that's because we are a big club, something he's been arguing against along with that idiot Saggers this morning. Neither of them know diddly squat about football. It's all very well them trying to provoke debate but at least have some facts to start with. Neither of them had a clue what sort of attendances we get, even though Saggers claims to have sat in the Holte End. As for Quinn, he played for Cov so will see us as a rival club, even though we couldn't give a shit about them!
