  1. Today my last glimmer of optimism has died. We are doomed and will continue to be until Randy goes. I only hope this new chairman, who so far has only alienated himself from almost everyone, has been hired to secure a sale of the club. If not, I don't believe we will come back up under Randy. The people running the club will continue to get it wrong.
  2. Not sure if anyone is aware but we missed out on Khazri because the board wouldn't sanction a deal and Debuchy won't move unless it's a permanent deal. The signs are the club is waiting to go down. Very sad.
  3. The reason why Chelsea are now doing better is because Mourinho has left. That must be because his relationship with the players had broken down. When that happens it's best if the manager goes, regardless of who he is. Ever heard of the term 'lost the dressing room'. Show me the evidence that any of those managers were good enough to run this club and I will happily admit Gabby is 100% to blame for losing his way. I'm certainly not short sighted, I actually have far more insight into how the game actually works than you realise. In fact I'd go as far as saying that 90% of what people think they know on here is pure, fabricated rubbish. The only other game that compares to football in terms of made up, idle gossip is a night at the bingo. Finally, to anyone on here slating Gabby and saying they want rid, if he does magic up a goal or two I trust you won't be celebrating. That would be incredibly fickle after all.
  4. If that's all you can pick me up on in that post then I am happy
  5. Here's some more... Every manager since O'Neill has been a failure, the club is heading for relegation and there are plenty of other players earning far too much money. Just because he's not as good as he was doesn't mean fans should turn on him. I supported him from the start and refuse to become fickle.
  6. A footballer needs to be playing in a decent team to get the best out of themselves. I agree he has been awful but, as I've already said several times, we need some perspective. It's not all down to him. As for the pay argument don't even get me started. He was given that money because of the industry he works in, not because he can motivate himself 20 times better than us. He's still a human being and as he is a footballer I imagine he is a bit thicker than us and needs more motivational assistance than you or I.
  7. Well yes, because they are paid to get the best out of him! Note I am not completely exonerating him, I am saying some perspective is required.
  8. Well it's obvious that he was such a terrible manager as we have done so well since those dark days. Come on guys let's get real here... Gabby played well under O'Neill and has been poor ever since. Plus perhaps our collapses were down to not having as big a squad as the established top four sides? I admit I look back at those times with rose tinted spectacles but some of you look back at that era blindfolded and suffering from amnesia.
  9. As is pretty much every footballer. I say sell them all.
  10. Bearing in mind most fans seem to deny he was badly managed so that they can put all the blame on him instead and have a good moan, I would say it isn't an easy suggestion to make as I am more likely to get criticised for it. I firmly believe he has been badly managed. O'Neill could keep him in line and get the best out of him but look at the managers since? They've failed with more than just Gabby. N'Zogbia has been a waste of time and money, so was Ireland. We signed Given and for two years he couldn't get a game. Makoun was also a wasted signing and then there was Bent. Many of us celebrated those as good deals at the time they arrived (although I didn't when it came to N'Zogbia or Ireland). You can't seriously tell me all of those players are to blame for their under performance? It's the manager's job to get the best out of them, that's what he is specifically paid to do. I agree that Gabby is a tricky character, he's not very clever and he's cocky. But that doesn't mean we should all say good riddance and blame him entirely for his failings. A little perspective is needed.
  11. Spot on. So easy to just say "good riddance". I hear a lot of blame put on him for being lazy, bulking up. Let's be honest here, he's been badly managed. There's plenty others that fall into that category. I will always remember him for his derby goals and scoring at Arsenal and Man Utd. That is the Gabby that we should all remember.
  12. Just seen his letter. Everyone should post them back to him with a compliments slip saying "I'm sorry Steve but you haven't got a clue". Thinking he can come in and change the culture is all well and good. He might find the commercial staff buy into that but what about footballers who are only bothered about playing a few games a year and getting paid millions. It's a completely different ball-game changing the culture of a football club compared to changing the culture of, say, an accountancy firm. This bloke will make zero difference and one again Randy has missed the point. The club is crying out for football not business knowledge. If we go down and this lot haven't gone we will not be coming back up in a hurry. I genuinely can't believe how deluded Randy and his cronies are. I 100% believe that if I or any other Villa fan with half a brain had the money to run this fantastic club, we'd do 10 times the job he's doing. He's not a businessman or a football club owner, he's just a man who got lucky by having a rich dad. As for Hollis, I'll look forward to when he's gone. This is the least optimistic I've felt about a Randy appointment since the day he hired McLeish.
  13. Good to see Randy has admitted he's been a failure since 2010. See first couple of sentences.
  14. Hartlebury is a small unit and they have a couple of bases in Hampshire. I don't reckon he would be coming over to go to Hartlebury unless they were going to majorly expand. Knowing that area well I can't see that would be the case.
  15. Yeah that's a small place to be fair, it's not like it's a huge site, the trading estate itself isn't huge, so any unit there isn't going to be massive, and I imagine he doesn't even know he has a facility there let alone visit it! As a side note I once got lost on the site looking for a unit that sells bikes, but I won't hold that against him. Electric bikes by any chance?!
  16. If it did turn out he was buying us he is at least three times richer than Randy.
  17. It's actually Hartlebury Industrial Estate. Birmingham Airport would definitely be the easiest place to travel from. However it is quite a small operation so would be surprised a billionaire would bother visiting it.
  18. Great, so we have a manager planning for next season when he may not even be here. Why not just close the place down till mid-June, that way they can try and sort a sale out before making promises to a manager who may not be wanted by the new owners. This latest announcement makes me think we are going to be waiting a while to get a new owner. And by announcing Lambert is still in charge it is not going to boost the season ticket sales.
  19. That Nike kit was the only one I didn't like, and also the one which took 6 months to turn up! Wish we could have another Nike kit with the Acorns sponsor. Still wear mine with pride.
  20. A reporter can't win. If he says what everyone's thinking, the chances are he will get banned from doing his job properly. Clubs pretty much have total power when it comes to dealing with the press. I imagine he is now saying what he thinks because it's safer to do so. But that doesn't mean he wouldn't want to say what he thinks when it isn't safe to do so. Sadly the way the game is now means clubs are far more sensitive about what the press has to say.
  21. Kendrick is not an idiot. He talks a lot of sense.
  22. VillaForever1970, one of the other guys quoted. Don't worry, I'm not having a go at you It just amused me how VF1970 was accused of being pathetic for saying it will be dismissed as PR bullshit, then you posted immediately after. No worries. That's actually why I did post, I thought I'd speak on behalf of a lot of us Villa PR cynics. IMO Villa's PR team is one of the most difficult there is.
  23. Edit: Pathetic isn't it? Is it really? Assuming that Phil here isn't just posting this because of VF1970. It's a typical reaction on here over the last few years, if the club say anything, it's dismissed as PR bullshit, if they don't say anything, people complain that the club never communicate with us. Lose-lose situation really. Having said that though, it was an unnecessary thing to say and didn't add much. Personally, I just think that the statement points more to the situation being much bigger than it seems if RL has been forced to come out and say something. And as BJ says, it's not exactly going to alleviate many fans' displeasure is it? I have no idea what you mean by VF1970, so no. You only have to look at how Villa wrote yesterday's statement to see how controlled they are when it comes to PR.
  24. I think there's more to it. Let's be honest will any disgruntled fan now be happy because of what he said? Also there's been plenty of occassions to release pr rubbish to try and please the fans. He only speaks in extreme cases and in this case it reads like it's lifted from a press release. I can't help but be cynical. I imagine this has been constructed with a press officer, but it is not a direct quote of how he is feeling. Therefore in my opinion it is pretty worthless. We need an owner willing to speak to the fans. There is no reason not to.
  25. Do you actually think he 'spoke' those three pars? I don't. This is just PR guff to keep the fans happy.
