    Paul Lambert

On balance, I think he deserves it.
  2. The second part is on the assumption that Scotland would maintain level of spending per head of population they are now in 2016. The. Barnett formular gives them approximately £1500.00 more to spend, so without UK tax providing that, it would have to be accounted for somewhere, hence the increase in deficit beyond the 12.4 billion.
  3. I think we have found a theme for Southampton away come May!
  4. So, using that £12 billion figure and taking off the £1500 per head of population, Scotland would find themself with a deficit of getting on for £20 billion, while in the process cut 6500 jobs at Faslane and lose any hope of future defence contracts from the Royal Navy, while taking on a debt around 100% of GDP, while hitching their waggon to a currency they have no control of. Investors would surely get a little twitchy?
  5. The sooner the oil runs out and one of our worst best friends no longer has the dollars to carry out their endless secterian agenda against the Twelvers via proxies, maybe the better the region will be.
  6. Brown could have just called Salmond a bigot and shortened the whole thing.
  7. Scotland would shoulder its debt. Threats to default on it are just a bluff. Even Salmond isn't that stupid.
  8. Well, IS do have a navy and have been attacking bridges, so there was room for confusion! I was referencing Four Lions though. I've not seen figures for this week of IS casualties; 850 odd Iraq's were killed by IS though from the 8th to 14th September, with 600 in Nineveh province due to a massacre up that way.
  9. Last heard of catching a JDAMS from an F-18... The US has been providing proper CAS to Kurdish and Iraqi Security Forces since Sunday night and also started to target IS military infrastructure in general. IS numbers have swelled to 30,000, but of that how many are actually battlefield capable in the way that IS have been previously in their ability to function as something close to line infantry, I guess remains to be seen. It wouldn't surprise me if most of the foreigners, when not guarding prisoners are set up for rubber dingy rapids missions. That said, the problem we have is the old Saddam types and those that have survived ten years of insurgency have set up an effective command structure and you're not going to be able to easily degrade that from the air.
  10. At half time on Saturday I was watching Okore, Bent, Grealish, Sanchez, N'Zogbia and Bacuna go through a piggy in the middle type of keep ball session and all of them looked to be really enjoying it, laughing when a team mate gave the ball away and being ultra competative as you might be with your mates. It was just good to see a nice sense of togetherness even amongst those who weren't in the starting XI that day. It makes me hopeful that the squad is unified and that, given how we were written off pre-season, that perhaps there is a siege mentality going on.
  11. Meh, they're all Pongos from an obsolete force anyway.
  12. Half a billion is a pretty big number though. You'd think there would have to be more to it than just management types. Its ok though, getting rid of Trident (1.5% of total benefit budget) and somehow losing 6500 jobs (rising to 8200) will balance that all out. Urhm...
  13. £450 million worth of cuts to the NHS planned over the next two years by the SNP in the event of a Yes vote.

The Orb Weavers webs are definitely stunning. They're pretty huge, but seem alright. An American I was with was tapping it on it's abdomen and it didn't seem to care.
  15. Indeed, apparently EE now have 520 of their own stores, compared to 720 Phones4U which made up 10% of their sales.

I saw a couple of corking, great big Golden Orb weavers i Queensland back in June. Really big girls they were. I also saw something I couldn't identify down in Sydney, smaller than an Orb Weaver, but still pretty big, but not hairy enough to be a Huntsman or a Funnel Web. I love spiders.
  17. Given Ryan Crockers comments admitting they don't really have a clue about non-IS Syrian rebels suggests you won't see to much activity over Syria, bar maybe Raqqa, until Langley has done some more homework.
  18. I wouldn't get too hung up on a typo. America has shed enough blood in al-Anbar to know where it is and the porous border it shares with the Magic Kingdom.
  19. There will be a programme on Monday on channel 4 reporting on how the SNP and Salmond's office have been threatening major businesses to avoid support for the Union.
  20. "He claimed there is talk of a “boycott” of John Lewis, banks to be split up, and new law to force Ryder Cup sponsor Standard Life to explain to unions its reasons for moving outside Scotland. He said: “This referendum is about power, and when we get a Yes majority, we will use that power for a day of reckoning with BP and the banks. “The heads of these companies are rich men, in cahoots with a rich English Tory Prime Minister, to keep Scotland’s poor, poorer through lies and distortions. The power they have now to subvert our democracy will come to an end with a Yes.” He added: “BP, in an independent Scotland, will need to learn the meaning of nationalisation, in part or in whole, as it has in other countries who have not been as soft as we have forced to be. We will be the masters of the oil fields, not BP or any other of the majors.” He said that under an independent Scotland, Standard Life would be required by new employment laws to give two years warning of any redundancies - and reveal to the trade unions its financial reasons for relocation to any country outside of Scotland." http://www.scotsman.com/news/politi...ning-post-yes-vote-says-jim-sillars-1-3539754 Oh dear. A nice sensible approach of encouraging investment post independence. Toys out of the pram time.
  21. BT, O2, EE, TalkTalk, Vodafone etc are planning to release a joint statement warning of cost increases post independence.
  22. The joke got a bit thin for me after about a minute and a half.
  23. I made similar reference to them earlier as Wildlings. We should be rebuilding the Wall and having the Black Watch man it.
