  1. *signs* I still believe, but after tonights shananagans i'm seriously close to jumping onto the other side I've tried to stay calm and keep the faith all summer, but if the reason Gordon didn't come here is down to us not paying the fee then i'll seriously become disillusioned
  2. General, Sorry if you've covered this, i try to keep up with all you're posts, but i might have missed this. Are we having a 3rd kit? on a Kit site they said we were releasing one soon, if so can you give any clue to what it will look like?
  3. about 13/14 they don't get enough exercise, but i'd guess they get far more than people in say year 11

    Optimism monitor

4 more players will join which will enable us to get 6th or 7th EDIT: need to read the threads properly, we would finish 8 - 10th with the current squad Thats if we got nocked out of the cups in the first round, so we would have to play less games
  5. link We should sing this, but with Ashley Young
  6. I voted Luke Moore, which made it 35 - 35 can't believe how tight it is, hopefully they both become true quality players and don't go off the rails
  7. The LA Galaxy let people watch there training sessions every monday i think, that would be quality Will the Holte Hotel be open like any normal pub then? that would be a great idea
  8. Both of these kits are the best i have ever seen in my life time, the only bad thing for me is that we won't be having them for 2 years due to the sponsor! Well done on the kits, and i feel you deserve an apology on the intial reaction of signing Marlon Harewood. Now people have took a step back most have realised this is a good squad signing, and a potentially astute piece of business by MON.
  9. minimum 5 maximum 7 I reckon if we have 7 new comers by the end of the transfer it will be because we've signed players like Mandanda as in we will sign the same 5, but if we sign 2 more it will be players who are young and won't expect to start
  10. delighted with them i have a season ticket, but I can't afford to go to every away game so having 5 out of the first 6 on the TV is great news for me good to see Newcastle is on the TV as thats too far to go anyway
  11. never heard of him but he must be quite highly rated MON hasn't got the best record with keepers, a couple of the keepers he has stuck with over the years have been pretty poor, but i'd say this is pretty likely to go through due to us releasing two young keepers i'd definately say if he joins then two keepers will be coming in, with both Taylor and Sorenson leaving. my moneys on Jaaskelainen with Mandanada on the bench, which doesn't sound too bad (presuming he must be good if we're willing to take a chance on him, and him being internationally recognised).
  12. Sneijder for me, with SWP a close second but i'd be more than happy with any of them bar Harewood (who i probably wouldn't mind that much if he was our 6th or 7th signing, as a replacemnt for Sutton) edit: oops i read the question wrong, i thought it was who would you want us to sign next. Not a clue who our next signing will be, Jaaskelainen maybe
  13. fantastic post a very reassuring post, even if i wasn't a non believer, i did notice that there wasn't a release date on the kit advertisement, so it makes sense they will be waiting to unveil it when the time is right i.e when the signings are in
  14. SWP easily Milner is a hard worker who gives his all, but he will never have the quality to be an England regular An SWP with confidence blows Milner out of the water easily and i'll be delighted if he signs. I'd be happy if Milner signed but to me he only has a limited ability, he will never play for a top club and will never regularly play for England. If he had pace that would be a different story but he doesn't have that vital pace that a winger needs, unless they are very clever players which Milner isn't. I hate that people judge SWP on his Chelsea career even though he has rarely had regular football, but has still managed to show quality now and again i.e against West Ham. At Man City he was brilliant (just ask Man City fans, they idolise him), and if he regained that form then he would be the first name on our teamsheet. I honestly believe MON could get that top form out of him and would put him back in the England first 11.
  15. General, Do you have any idea whether the games against Toronto and Columbus Crew will be televised in England?
  16. In what way does the fact he is discussing terms with the top 4 clubs mean we can't agree a fee with his club? because Lyon are asking for 17 million considering we need 4 - 5 quality players in, i can't see us spending 17 million on 1 player, thats if our budget is 30 million or 40
  17. i wonder if we're in for Tuncay, but its just being kept under wraps? O'Neill might not fancy him, but he must be a pretty good free transfer to have i'd be suprised if he went to Blues, and i wouldn' t like to see him at Boro he's apparently been quoted as saying this "All players aspire to play in big clubs such as Chelsea or Manchester as well as other big clubs in Spain or Italy," he told NTV. "I am of the opinion that it is very tough for a player to be part of the starting line-up in those clubs and I would rather play for a team that I know will give me the chance to start." i've never seen him play, but everyone seems to have an opinion on how hes a very good player, so i hope we don't miss the boat here
  18. i don't know who i would prefer out of De Jong and reo Coker, De Jong is meant to be a very good player, but so is Reo Coker, with premiership experience I doubt De Jong would join us to play at Right back as well, who would want to leave a team who has played in europe at CM to join a mid table team and play at full back, hardly the most exciting prospect. I think the only way we would get him is by playing him at centre mid
  19. i hope we get De Jong, he would be a good signing i don't know how much he would cost though? as he only cost 700k due to him having 6 months left on his contract before
  20. Nakamura would be a great signing, but i'd prefer Sneijder oh btw it doesn't matter if you are lightweight if you are a winger, just look at the endless amount of light wingers who are in the prem or have been linked to the prem
  21. even under completely different ownership/management? or do the clubs have some sort of gypsy curse, that no one has yet caught on too?
  22. good point, Parker will probably pull out at the last minute and decide he wants to come here instead because of that reason.
  23. without trawling all the way back through this thread, i have seen quite a few times people comment on how so and so would come to us if if it came to it for reasons such as 'why would anyone wnat to go Newcastle they will just flop as usuall' etc etc etc no one claimed what was said in the report was true, just that it plants seeds of doubt in you're mind. maybe, or the fact that they are on the verge of getting fully taken over by someone worth treble the amount of money as Randy has would make me think otherwise. Of course Newcastle will make all big name signings just to appease fans, who will no doubt flop even though they are under new management, but Villa of course will make fantastic signings who will take us straight back to the top
  24. Ashley Young joined us because Aidie Boothroyd advised him to because he was a young player, i somehow don't think the likes of Parker and Barton will need advise from their current managers No one has said we will miss out on all players, but people like me are responding to people who seem to think its absurd that a player would choose Newcastle or West Ham over us. We are all competing for players, we have our plus points but so do the other two clubs. Martin O'Neill has a big reputation, as does Sam Allardyce If i was a professional footballer with no ties to Aston Villa, i personally would probably join Newcastle as it all stands now The opportunity to play alongside the likes of Owen, and the opportunity to play in front of 52,000 soon to be 60, every week would be a big factor, as it is too many players who comment on how great it is too play on such a big stage as St James's Park. Also some players would consider West Ham, the chance to live in London as a plus point, but the fact West Ham are prepared to offer the likes of 60 grand + out to players is another bonus. The opportunity to play under Martin O'Neill and to train in top quality facilities would also draw me towards Villa Each team has there deluded fans, as we saw with that West Ham fan the other day, but there is not a big enough gap between us, Newcastle and West Ham, to think we should have some divine right to sign the likes of Barton if we want him.
