  1. Barry I have, purely because he takes penalties as KKR says.
  2. Same as everyone else. It's a lot easier to live a normal life when deaf than it is when blind. Only a musician would value hearing more, and even then maybe not. A better poll would be Hearing v Touch.
  3. Agreed General, we know exactly what context your comment was made in and we share your disgust with how it has been blown out of proportion.
  4. Great article. John Carew is living proof of what you have stated here. He couldn't get near the ball without apparently fouling someone against Liverpool.
  5. Muse - Invincible, and they are coming to Australia! Woohoo!
  6. Just wanted to join in the chorus of praise General. I love what Randy and the board are doing for the club, and I am still in awe that someone as high up as you in the club is willing to openly discuss Villa issues with the fans. No one can tell me the board doesn't love this club as much as I do. Fans can get frustrated about lack of transfers, I myself have been a bit frustrated, but I know for sure that Randy, MON and the rest of you have nothing but Aston Villa's best interests at heart. I read your reply to a negative post directed towards you on another forum, and I was more than impressed. Brilliantly put in his place! I love what you are doing for our club.
  7. we'll have a similar year to last year, but our improved goalscoring power (IMO) will see us convert 4 or 5 of those draws to wins.
  8. I believe we are on the right track, but if we are supposed to have money, why can we hardly fill the bench for the 1st game of the premier league season? Dont bloody worry about paying over the odds a little bit. You paid over the odds for Ashley Young and look how well that turned out. Our 1st team is still quality IMO, but one injury to any of the defenders and we are in big, big trouble. Bitterly disappointed at the moment. They havent followed through with what we were promised this window, and I don't care if there's still a few weeks left, the fecking season is about to fecking start! For McGrath's sake get some cover in! Still, it's a 5 year plan and I still think MON is the man to take us there. He has failed at this hurdle at the moment for me though.
  9. Challenging for a UEFA cup spot i'd hope. Assuming we go alright with injuries and sign a right back.
  10. Great post NV! Well said, you have certainly put my uncertainties to rest.
  11. except doesn't religion in whatever faith teach tolerance of others? :-) Sure does... unless you're gay, or from another religion, or say something bad about a the religion. No, it doesnt. It says tolerate all others who fit in with what we are trying to teach. And it leaves plenty of room for fundamentalists to take it the wrong way and kill people for what they believe in. I know that is not what religion is about, but it happens every day, and has happened every day for thousands of years.
  12. Sorry, I missed part of your post. The popular alternative to creationism is evolution, which has yet to be disproved and pretty much explains everything that lives. The origin of life was a lucky chemical reaction. An extremely lucky one. There are many theories as to the origin of the universe, the big bang being the most popular one. There are heaps of alternative theories to creationism. Rather than just accepting that "God did it", i'd prefer science keep trying to discover the mysteries of the universe.
  13. Which is the point. Thanks. Difference is that religous people backup their arguements and beliefs by holy scripture and events. They believe it is a fact, their beliefs can be backed up by this. As an Atheist you deny the possibility for something to be real, without any evidence or support to back it up. You dont bring an alternative view either, you just refuse to accept creationisme. When in fact you should accept you dont know. Which is why you should head towards beeing an agnostic. I'd say the complete lack of any real evidence of the existance of God is all the evidence Athiests need. You are relying on books full of hearsay and conjecture, probable exaggeration and fairy stories, all written thousands of years ago. A virgin birth? A man turning water into wine? Two of every single animal on Earth living on a boat? Fairy stories. And there is absolutely no proof they are anything more than that. Jesus certainly lived, and he certainly believed he was the son of god, but my Mum works in Mental Health, and has met tons of patients who believe they are the son of god. How is Jesus different? The bible is no proof, and if anything hurts the credibility of people who claim there is a God. It is much easier to prove beyond doubt that something exists, than to prove beyond doubt that something doesnt exist. And there is nothing that even comes close to proof that God exists. Athiests don't need evidence to disprove God, the lack of proof that he does exist is all the evidence we need. That said, my policy is that everyone should believe whatever they want to believe. My girlfriend is christian and I would not wish her not to be because it's a great part of who she is. I simply don't share her beliefs, not at all.
  14. Graham Taylor IIRC. Or Mr and Mrs McGrath?
  15. Ha! You have as much proof of a god existing as we do of one not existing, so while I believe everyone should believe what they want to believe, if an Athiest should be agnostic because they can't prove there is no god, then a religious person surely would also have to be agnostic because they can't prove there is. Your arguement is ridiculous TRL, i'm sorry. Which is funny as regarding how the world was made, science can bring very little. Energy for once. Laws of physics. How did something get created out of nothing? Im trying to riducule you or anyone, i just find it strange that you deny the presence of something which could be possible, and according to a lot of theories likely. Be a bit broadminded etc. What created God then? Whatever you can say that was "created out of nothing" by God, something must have created God. The "he has always been" arguement is a ridiculous cop out as well, and is used purely because religious people have no answer for the question of where God came from. Instead of looking for answers for the mysteries of the universe, you are simply deciding that God did it. But you can never tell me where God came from. Considering all the insanely complex things about this universe, for God to have created them he must be even more complex. Something must have created him if he exists. Give me a realistic answer to that and i'll go to church every sunday.
  16. It's quite simple I'd imagine. You don't believe in God. So you are saying there are no God whatsoever. When in fact, you dont know? That's a ridiculous statement TRL. You arent sure if there is a god. Well done. But the rest of us are sure, and that goes for the religious people and for us athiests. As an Athiest I am saying that without a doubt there is no "god" that created everything in the universe and looks after/punishes every one of us for everything we do. The whole concept is about as believable to me as a man in a red suit travelling to every house in the world (on a reindeer powered sleigh that flies) on the 25th of december and delivering presents. And Religious people are just as certain that there is a god, and that he will look after them and everything bad in the world has a purpose yada yada yada. Why have a go at us because we've made up our mind about something? Edit: Technically, by your rules, every person on the planet should be agnostic. Silly really.
  17. Sloth - one of the 7 deadly sins! you're God will not be pleased! :winkold: Noone follows those sins guidelines or the ten commandments. And yet they follow the rest of the bible fairy stories. Well, that's christians for you. I don't hate christians or anything, My girlfriend is one, but it's all hilarious when you think about it seriously.
  18. How can you be 'pretty athiest'? Surely you're either athiest or you're not. If you're 'pretty athiest', wouldn't than make you agnostic? Fair enough. We'll say athiest.
  19. I used to be agnostic, but i'm pretty athiest these days.
  20. Gabby is the reason i'm not sure if I want a gun striker brought in. Cover, yes, a high level striker (one of the ones we've been linked with) no. My reason is that I think Gabby will be better than all of the strikers we've been linked with. Quick, strong and balanced, knows where the goals are and can finish. He caused havoc for defences when he was finally unleashed up forward near the end of the season. And he will only get better, but he needs to be on the pitch getting gametime to get better. He is also just about perfectly suited to be playing aside John Carew. He can be our 20 goal a season striker. IMO, we will see both Gabby and Carew score 15 next season. I'd take that definitely, 20 goal a season striker or not.
  21. If that happened I would probably have to change my pants. Then change them again not too long later.
  22. Assuming we would sign squad players from then on I meant. If those were our "big signings" I would be satisfied.
  23. Hamburg were in a relegation battle for a time in a poor league. If these three are so brilliant, the 8 supporting them must be awful. Well, it is perfectly possible to find good players in bad teams. How about Darren Bent and Luke Young at Charlton. NRC and Carlos Tevez at West Ham, Gavin McCann and Thomas Sørensen at Sunderland.........erm, forget that last one. And Ashley Young at Watford. If we could get the 3 for 23 mil it would definitely be worth it, and I would be fairly satisfied with this transfer window. I still feel like i'm in fairyland even contemplating it though. Fingers crossed.
