  1. T5 North Stand was decent, it took a while for most of the ground to get into it but once the ings one flew in, then it was fantastic. The celebrations were more like an away game, everyone lost it for the first one. The pen not so much as it was kind of expected. I would say its the second best atmosphere at Villa Park in the last few years, the best one being the Home game against Everton 2 years ago. The Newcastle lot were very quiet, they are usually much louder away. Reckon they are jaded with the ownership situation and being lumbered with Bruce for the long term.
  2. Fantastic atmosphere! was brilliant to be back amongst the villa fans at villa park, absolute scenes for the Ings Bicycle kick.....mental stuff and more like an away game celebration in my part of the ground, similar elsewhere i imagine!? Performance and controlling the ball could have been better, but we made use of it much better than last week. I thought ramsey had his best game yet for us, was nice and composed and played some great balls. When Buendia really gets going and we have Bailey in the team, it will be a sight to behold for sure!
  3. Lets make it like the Everton atmosphere 2 years ago! Can't wait for this now
  4. They will probably find out that after the game, there were a few visible empty seats, as it will be inevitable that some won't be able to make it due to changing plans and summer holidays causing things to go awry. I think a better option would be to open the resale window for tickets earlier so that villa fans can be in seats and people who would otherwise miss out get a chance if a regular can't get there.
  5. I think some people are rather disingenuous if they believe that villa fans want their team to lose. No fan wants that. However there are realists and idealists, and those who think things won't get tense if things are going poorly need to have a reality check. This dosen't mean that anyone wants this. But so often in life, what one wants, isn't necessarily what one gets. Funny how there are fans out there that want to create a them and us attitude amongst the villa faithful by peddling their "better fan" nonsense
  6. Grealish is such a hypocrite - he would be calling for a foul all day long if that was him on the floor lmao
  7. City have missed the intensity and drive of Foden today. He will be in the team most games when available. a truly incredible talent who is still so young
  8. hes not stood out today, not done too badly either. hit a shot straight at the goalkeeper just now, which he should have put in the corner
  9. Mendy, Ake, Stones....all defensive liabilities who have proved over many games. Konsa is better than all of them, we are lucky to have a good defender like him in our team.
  10. Alli has played fine today, don't know why everyone is saying he is past it. We have had our own players in the past who have been frozen out, for the fans to turn against them, only for them to be given a run in the team and show that actually, they are not as some wanted us to believe. Alan Hutton for one. Mourinho and his ego was the problem and he will probably end up with more goals and assists than grealish this season if given the opportunity. Lets not forget who the original breakout star was
  11. Spurs have certainly got themselves in positions in which they could have done damage to City. Hopefully they get an opening and take it soon
  12. I wonder if pep will try and get him to speed things up a bit. He never seemed the type to play through balls onto strikers (not like we had many people who made those runs for the bulk of his time at villa tbf), but i think to play AM for City you need to have that speed to play through balls asap and regularly, like KDB. I think Jack will still have to be used non centrally to get the best out of him, but maybe pep will get him t change his game up and then that could suit him more.
  13. Yeah hes definitely not a natural striker, last july when we stayed up on the last day, he missed an absolute sitter against us which would have relegated us had it flown in. However, by sheer force of will and application he gets a hatful of goals because he just won't give up and will continue to run himself into the ground and hassle the opposition. And also because he is a big strong unit he is able to hold up the ball for the pacy players but also is surprisingly mobile and workhorse, so he gets 10/10 on the effort part. Tammy would have been a good fit for them and i think would have been a good move for him. With Tammy i get the feeling he saw the likes of us and the hammers as a downwards move though and he thought he could do better. He should really have pushed for the villa move when we got promoted as we were keen on him i heard but he wanted to stay and fight for his place which was understandable. but so much changed for him post lampard and the other youngsters, apart from mount, who lampard used wont have long term chelsea futures either
  14. Grealish starting for man city, no kane in the matchday 18. cringed when i heard the man city fans already in the stadium singing super jackie grealish
  15. Antonio is such a quality player. Credit to the Hammers who have fought a good comeback and gone on to press the advantage. We can't seem to do that for some reason, when we go a goal down or 2 its hard to get back into the game or win it. Moyes has built them into a solid unit
  16. The good thing about Newcastle is that they do have that mistake in them. I suppose people would say that about our team aswell. They can definitely be got at, need our attacking players on it and tell them to get in the box and drive at the opposition
  17. Newcastle do look like they are playing with the handbrake off, and do look a lot better and less passive than when we played them last season. The 2-0 victory before lockdown at villa park was one of the worst i've seen them play, so can't see them having a stinker like that again either. We do tend to get some good results against them at VP (at least in the last couple of years since returning to the prem) so I do back us to win this one. They could be playing much better because they are at home, its the first game of the season and the fans are back. They do have decent forwards though so will have to be much better with the ball than we were against brentford.
  18. yes but thats what the many villa fans are like. I've been to Villa park many times and seen the crowd turn very quickly if we go a goal down early doors or if we are not hoofing the ball upfield straight away. So I think some people who have reacted to my comment with the laughing face havent been down to villa park if they dont think this will happen. There is a big expectation on our players to deliver, especially this season, whether they like or not and some people will always react like that.
  19. Norwich are acquitting themselves well. They will be fine in the premier league and stay up on this showing. Had plenty of posession but understandable they don't have the quality or cutting edge against Liverpool in the final third.
  20. Have to win this one. If we don't, the atmosphere against Brentford the week after will be toxic, and they are the type of team that play tactically, technically, thoughtfully and one which will take advantage of a negative, panicky atmosphere. This is a real gift for us. No offence to Newcastle, but its the game you want next after a loss. They have dangerous players, but the manager is one which should be outthought tactically. I think if we lose this then it will be a very mediocre season.
  21. I think its clear that we need someone who starts moves from defensive midfield. A physical beast who surges forward, encouraging the rest of the team to make runs and get behind the defence. Get Cheick Doucoure or Anguissa in and the midfield will be so much better and reliable.
