This is also being discussed on the General thread and he was going to ask Phil Mepham to help out...but after an objection....as he quite rightly points out the club are caught between those who like the idea and those who don't like it... Like the Great new logo debate!!.....Don't get me wrong I'm not on some... we must adopt VIVA trip. I'd be happy with something else if it got everyone going! Just maddening that after all the debate last year the status quo remains. As someone else said our away support is amazing EVERYONE sings so maybe it would be an idea to try VIVA or whatever we come up with out at away games first with the club's support, to see how it goes down. What is there to lose??!!! EDIT ADDED: Just a suggestion but If anyone else wants the club to be involved with getting something sorted with VIVA or whatever.... maybe it would be an idea if they could PM the General or post on his thread.

Well that's the problem General and nobody would want to impose something on the fans if they really didn't like it. I have to say alot of fans do like the VIVA thing. We posted it on alot of message boards not just Villa Talk and most feedback was positive. The thing is those who just won't sing can just clap and TBH it would be mainly the chorus that would catch on and be sung. Viva Colonia was sung at the last world cup in Germany in Cologne and the fans who heard it said it sounded great and that was where the idea came from. Its like the new logo some liked it some vehemently didn't and maybe still don't!! but at the end of the day it was felt that something should be done to move things forward. The fans have been asking for a Villa song for a long time now.. Liverpool have YNWA... Mancs Ka SARA etc West Ham....Blowing Bubbles...etc Alot don't like the usual anti Blues songs down VP If the club don't want to try and put VIVA forward as a club song to get the fans going then would it be possible to commission someone to write a song or adopt a tune and re write some words. Nigel Kennedy is a mad Villa fan and there are a few others in the music world who are very talented. But if nothing is sorted then I can assure you it will be same old S*** on the City for another season and fans moaning that we haven't got any updated decent songs!

I don't think the FC Cologne Version with the clapping sounds crap sorry but I don't and if you look on You Tube at FC Cologne fans singing it sounds great but then that's my opinion... Dwight York sounded a bit naff TBH until it was adopted but was great when everyone at VP or wembley when we won the cup was singing it!!! Agree. Well I have tried! Even went round the upper Holte handing out the words! I need some help and for someone to get involved from the Club. Phil Mepham was interested last year and thought it was a good idea. The German Band De Hoener have even given their OK to use it. FC Cologne sing it and if you look on You Tube under VIVA COLONIA there is some footage I've PM the general and posted on his thread asking if he will listen and get back to me HELP NEEDED WITH THIS!

Dear General I've sent a PM regarding this but thought I'd post on here to give others a chance for some input. We have already approached the German band to ask permission to use the song and another member was helping get a recording made, but I think everyone was a bit nervous of imposing something on the fans. However everyone is still trying to come up with a song and so I thought I'd mention it again! I have tonight posted on the Complete and Utter Chants thread a suggestion for a song that might be adopted at Villa Park that a few members suggested about 9 months ago. I emailed Phil Mepham last year before the takeover and I know alot of people liked the song. It was posted on alot of the message boards. I really would be grateful if you would listen to the Mp3 link for a minute and imagine Villa Park clapping and singing to the following words. I'm sure if Randy or other's listened to the song they would agree it might be worth persuing. Kewell is a real talent but due mainly to perhaps injuries he never seemed to me to click as a player, he looks to me out of place playing for Liverpool. Yeah but as someone said yesterday the scary part about it is that just those three would mean an investment of £25M plus and our squad wouldn't look that much different to what it does we would still not have made a single big signing. Point taken........ but what's Clown gonna do if in next few years ( Young, Gabby, Barry, Reo Cocker, Jagielka, (If there ours) Gardner, Moore and Co set the Premiership alight...is he or his England successor REALLY gonna be able to continue ignoring B6??!! Well we won the league with Mortimer commanding the midfield along with Cowans, Morley, Withe and Shaw and between them they all only got a whiff of England caps. We are not a liked club. Yes along with Arsenal we have the most capped English players in history, but bear in mind when the majority were. Very true but then again there weren't so many foreigners in the League then and there were lots of English alternatives who played for the "FA APPROVED LIST OF TEAMS YOU CAN PICK FROM" Also MON is well liked amoungst the media and if we are successful going forward I think the England set up won't be able to ignore us, as much as they have done previously, in the future!
