  1. On another thread but thought a mention - article in News of World from Cleveland Plain Dealer has loads of quotes from RL. No doubt it my mind that its a done deal He's shaken hands with this deal with Ellis & Petchey and he knows darn well they won't go back whatever others offer!
  2. Very true! They're great to be with as well Americans a real a laugh most of em the only thing I don't like about the place is the amount they waste especially food!! which is dreadfully sweet. Its a disposable, terribly materialistic wasteful society and although its great to visit, there's always a part of me that's glad to be home. Anyhow OT rant over .. washing to catch up on..footies back
  3. Well as far as I'm concerned Mr Lerner & Co have done everything right Can't fault them at all...after yesterday's announcement about Share Certificates being returned and stamped, a letter arrived this morning to that affect also!
  4. Nop and THAT's why Messrs Padfield & AV06 have landed themselves in trouble over public comments regarding their bid ....It could be seen to affect the share price with regard to the offer already on the table which is just not cricket gentlemen!!
  5. I bought a small number when they were really cheap about £2 few years ago and gave some to the Trust as did many others. I kept 10 plus I bought another 390 a couple of weeks ago through a Stockbroker. So that makes 400. Might keep 1 as a memento i'll see. What's happening with all the shares the Trust have? Anyone know?
  6. Yeah especially as it was closed down a few days ago ..only to be re-opened!!!
  7. Exactly, which is why I'm not thinking about it all...What will be... will be!! Lerner ain't no fool and if he's done his homework on Villa he'll have done his homework on AV06 etc.
  8. There is NO WAY Ellis would have gone on holiday if the Lerner deal wasn't done & dusted as far as he's concerned. He'd be sitting at his desk waiting for the phone to ring...Its not just about whose bid was the highest. Neville's was apparently at £64M The board would be duty bound to look at another bid but to be honest Ellis would be hated beyind belief if this was seen to go belly up after yesterday's announcement..not to mention the quality of the new board!! Keith Harris was adamant Ellis wanted someone to go on & cherish his beloved Aston Villa(sick bag at ready) if he sold up. RL's consortium has obviously put alot of work into not only the bid, but their plans for the club. Ellis's ego won't let this turn into a nasty bidding war I'm sure..he wants to be seen as the saviour of the club as his last act and appointing MON & handing over the reigns to a consortium which has turned the Cleveland Browns into the 7th largest Sports Franchise in the US he knows he's backed a winnner. I listened to Mr Padfield on Radio 5 and he hadn't done his homework on Villa at all and I for one was not convinced by him... Like other shareholders I personally stand to profit alot more if Villa go for £70 Million but I'm more than happy to accept the lower bid if it means a REAL future for AVFC
  9. Yeah but to be fair its been like that for days!...and as PB pointed out who of small shareholders are going to want to sell shares at £5.00 when they'll more than likely get £5.60?!
  10. OOOOOH nasty!!!.....Are you friends with Bozzie by any chance?? tut tut..lol
  11. The only other confirmation that RL was acually in the UK on Friday, as far as I know was Pat Murphy on Radio 5Live, speaking about MON's arrival, the press conference and the takeover. He also said that he beleived Lerner was here in the UK Friday. Now it might just have been someone there reading this board and The Trees updates but PM will have known for real whether RL was here, I'm sure, as he was one of those who broke the story and seemed to be in the know.
  12. DELETED -POSTED TWICE NOT INTENTIONALLY!
  13. Not sure how reliable Tribal Football is but TBH its only backing up what we already know & there's quotes from the Sunday Times apparently Lerner emerges as Aston Villa favourite tribalfooball.com - August 06, 2006 American tycoon Randy Lerner is set to complete his takeover of Aston Villa. The Sunday Times says the 44-year-old has resolved to finalise the deal with Villa chairman Doug Ellis after talks, which broke down two weeks ago, resumed in recent days. With Martin O'Neill installed as manager, an appointment endorsed by Lerner, new ownership could transform the club. "He is really driven to provide a winner, not just a winning team but the winner," former Browns star turned broadcaster Doug Dieken said of Lerner. A source close to Lerner confirmed a decision will be made in days. Only the consortium led by Athole Still, Sven-Göran Eriksson's agent, appears to be a credible alternative. Lerner appreciates how important sport is to the people who follow it avidly, for he is one of them, and as an owner he is aware of his responsibilities. "You're getting into the fabric of families," he said recently. "These are people's memories. This is how they spend their Sundays. You've got to be careful with that." CLICK HERE
  14. Just a thought....... Doug did appear to be saying he wanted the best for the club today in his interview on SSN and surely the point is now that MON is in situ he needs to have money to strengthen the squad and very quickly if he's to make any impact this season. IMHO either the new consortium are gonna come in with a blaze of glory immenently or on the otherhand just maybe there will be a slight delay..... Think about it .....MON ain't gonna want to advertise he's got £20M budget for players at his disposal is he? otherwise other clubs would be hiking the price of players everytime he got on the phone. Its happened before to this football club, when clubs knew we desperate for a striker. Makes sense perhaps if Ellis & new owners kept quiet until at least THIS trf window is shut just & let MON quietly go about his business & sign some players for decent prices on the pretence he's working on a shoestring...and only after the event will we realise that in fact the new owners had been bankrolling the purchases all along. He's not a complete fool & his ego is such that I'm sure his legacy after death at the age of 82, will prompt him to be seen to be doing what's right for Aston Villa football club at this time of his life. Yesterday news is old news, we can all testify to that after seeing the fans fawning over him as well as MON last night. He's "a wiley old fox" to quote Pat Murphy & he'll know that if he finally hands the club over to the consortium that's going to have the best resources available to assist MON to attain success as soon as possible, then alot of the bad feeling towards him personally will evaporate. I think the board have made their choice but it will be interesting to see when the takeover actually completes.
  15. Actually I'm a tightwad like Doug so its Aldi for me most of the time!...lol
  16. Well maybe his tight fiscal policies have had a bearing on Villa being amoungst the most attractive propositions in the Premiership and we don't appear to have the incumbence of any debt. However as has been said before neither probably does my local Spar Shop!.. but the point is most people wannna shop at a Tesco or Asda!!
  17. Its quoted on Ellis thread
  18. According to TT RL's jet left Luton Airport earlier this morning
  19. Well I thought apart from RL's Private Jet being at Luton airport the morning MON is appointed....... the most telling point of yesterday's Press Conference was Doug flying back on Sunday....Why? He doesn't normally miss Villa games unless there is something more pressing....& when Lerner, alledgedly, went off in a huff back to US unhappy with negotiations with Ellis last week...we heard about it within hours!! TT has confirmed Lerner left earlier this morning....So far nothing untoward from the Press
  20. Very True!.... Tx for info TT you're a star!!...Are you really doing this from the airport at Brum or can you track all this from home??!!
  21. Can't just be conincidence that his jet just happened to be at Luton Airport the very day MON signs for the club...when its been mde clear that he's spoken to MON about joining Villa.....Something's a foot and hopefully not Dougs THIS TIME!!
  22. Cheers guys!!...... MON IN ..........phase two begins!!
