  1. Arsenal and Man Ure are sniffing around Gordon as well but he is being touted as a £10M keeper... not saying he's worth it but that's what seems to be doing the rounds
  2. Not much change out of 40-50million? Thats assuming they are 10 million quid each which they clearly aren't! Gordon £10M, NRC £8M, Bellamy £8-10M Matty Taylor £5-6M, Jagielka £5M May well have to fork out more My Maths that's adds up to about £39M Not including the inevitable add ons neither
  3. Just to get my head round this lot then so far then main speculation seems to be... Reo Coker, Matty Taylor, Bellamy, and Craig Gordon then?...With Jagielka another possibility. That would make five decent signings and probably not much change out of £40-50M!!
  4. Thought Jagielka looked bright coming on for England B! I think he would be a really good addition to our squad. Must say was also impressed with Darren Bentley from B Burn and Downing played well too.
  5. Well looking round at Teamtalk etc seems that Barry would like us to sign Bellamy even if some fans are not convinced...unlike our captain to get involved in transfer gossip unless there's something in the offing!!
  6. I can't beleive this thread is approaching 400 pages and we ain't signed anyone yet!! Pure unadulterated speculation.. .lol
  7. erm those clowns!!... This is VILLA it took 30mins for em to confirm Fair Play Draw League result ... Toon press conference was far more important! These days we seem to do business behind closed doors and away from the limelight which is better IMO
  8. Funny emough was in pub out with my ex red scouse BF before CL final and he was saying bah if Villa are gonna make signings like Jagielka, Bellamy and players like Taylor they ain't gonna win anything! I disagreed and said............... "Nop MON is no fool...he knows the type of players he gets the best out of and he's got a huge amount of youthful talent bursting at the seams....personally if we get Jagielka for RB, Matty Taylor for LB and Bellamy/Defoe for a striker. and a decent GK. I won't be too dissappointed at all!"
  9. Agreed....I just can't beleive Pompey with new owners are willing to let him leave unless there is a really good reason or his contract is not that long and they think they might as well cash in on him.
  10. Oh well, least we won't have ALL the excitement of the Fair Play league draw to look forward to then!!...lol
  11. And the same way he already tamed Bellamy @ Celtic. I'm not doubting O'Neills ability to handle problem players but Bellamy and Berger are hardly on the same level. Berger has never had disciplanry problems or at least not serious ones. He was sent on loan for an argument about team selection (i.e. him not being picked), not for beating a team mate with a golf club, being arrested for assault or generally being a gobby arrogant word removed. Of course it could be that very severe disciplinary approach which is good for Bellamy, rather than the Liverpool way of glossing over things. But the Berger comparison still doesnt hold much weight imo. Plus Bellamy was only on loan at Celtic for a relatively short period of time, his problems since certainly show he wasnt 'cured'. O'Neill may get him settled down but he'll still be an areshole! True but then again Berger situation does have similarities in that he knew due to his age he was in last chance saloon in the Villa squad and if he didn't pull his finger out he would end up keeping a Rotherham bench or such like warm next November!! Bellamy might not be too old but he knows he ain't gonna be given many more chances at top flight football so like Berger I should imagine he'd jump at the chance. IMHO if MON & Randy had taken over the reins a little earlier last summer ,Bellamy would have have headed down to B6 straight from Ewood Park without the Anfield stop on the way!
  12. Bellamy is a talent no doubt about it ....He has the utmost respect for MON as well Maybe he would be perfect partner for Carew?!!...who knows. What's happened to Defoe joining us this week???!! However Matty Taylor link is a bit odd.. Unless he's a huge fan of MON and he's totally convinced about the C & B revolution ...why would he wanna leave?.........In any case can't see Harry allowing him to go unless his contract is up soon and he's demanding boats loads of dosh. All speculation OTPITS!!
  13. He might also turn out to be the next Luque. Say what you want about bellamy and/or smith, at least you know what you are getting, and that includes 100% effort on the pitch, particularly in Bellamy's case. To be honest id go for the gamble! You do not get to be Europes golden boot winner (As I believe Alves is!) without being a good goal scorer....what ever the league you are plying your trade. Remember a few years back when the same questions were asked of Henrik Larsen! Alves looks awesome on that video.....34 goals!...reminds me of Luke Moore a little Could he hack it in the Premiership though??!!!..that's the question as said before.
  14. Jagielka added bonus he can play in goal if needed Sidwell - be cool if we got him! Undecided about Striker - Maybe MON to spring another Carew surprise and I'm sure we'd be delighted!
  15. Fancy us over all of those clubs to be honest. He would be a tasty signing. He would! Anyone else think the Chavskis cunning plan involves signing up as many of the top players as rot in the reserves squad additions.... JUST so they don't go and play for the competition??!!!..
  16. Yes. Couple of quid saved then. Can anyone think of anyone else that is out of contract? Draw up a list of freebies. Distin and Viduka are the only ones that spring to mind. Oh and Titus Bramble :winkold: Ben Haim from Bolton who I mentioned the other day is..but I think Bolton are trying to get him to sign up under a new one. Apparently Villa had him on trial a while ago and said no thanks but that was under a different regime.
  17. Heck we ain't signed Defoe as yet..why all the arguin?!! He's a quality player but IMHO doesn't bag enough of his chances..however if MON thinks he can finetune him into a potent goalscorer and a decent addition to the squad, then that will be good enough for me!
  18. I've heard Distin mentioned as a CB quite a bit but Ben Haim from Bolton is apparently available this summer as well. The guy on Villa World commentating with dear Jack was waxing lyrical about him today and although I make a habit of NOT watching Bolton, so I can't say much but he is by all accounts extremely good and he's only 25
  19. Has been whenever I've seen him. Universaly voted Blackburns player of the year last year (by the nuterals at least), must admit I haven't seen a lot of Blackburn this season. Nop I'm a woman so I'll own up to my mistakes although to be fair Pederson does a fair bit of tracking back, which is why I thought he was Boumaesque and besides the football we've bin playing lately has been great cos they keep swapping sides and interchanging has been great to watch hasn't mattered too much what official position they've bin given!
  20. Apologies Pederson is Left Midfield. But then Young has been playing in that position for us and he can play on either wing I think he'd be a good addition anyhow as would Jagielka. I watched Pederson the other night V Spurs and he was at the heart of their attacking moves as well as doing a hell of a job in defence.
  21. First of all it's Pedersen, actually Gamst Pedersen. Show some respect for people's names now should we? Also, our keeper is named Sørensen... Sorensen in English, not Sorenson! I think he is much like Barry. They both have equal amounts of strengths and weaknesses. MGP has a great foot we all know that, but he is terrible in defense. Barry is more complete, without any real strengths. Solid players, but very much alike. None of them could skin a player, both could score 5 open play goals a season, so why invest in something we already got. Sure he would give us some great goals from set-pieces but it would not do any good with Gareth. Even though Barry is playing center mid, and has been since McCann was dropped? Exactly..Pederson would be competing for Bouma's place not Barry's, who has now cemented himself firmly as captain and in CM!!
  22. So can Aaron Hughes - doesn't mean he's good enough. Gotta disagree on this. jagielka could do a job at right back - yes. Luke Young could do a job at right back - yes - my nan could do a job at right back - yes Aaron hughes - errr - no !!!! Yet another bloody goal down to him today - thank christ thats the last we will see of him !!. Bent or Defoe , Barton or another , Young or another , Boruc prob (keep sorenson get rid of taylor) and a few odds and sods and we will be around where we wanna be next season. Jagielka is a good player he's played every game for the Blades this year I think and he's strong and talented......I've been saying all season he'd be a good additon to our squad.
  23. He's quality! i've been told Liverpool have bin sniffing round though
  24. I can't see him wanting to leave if they're gonna get big Sam in as manager!
  25. Nasri looks quality on that Video!...Trouble is he's unproven in the Premiership and again will probably take a while to settle in. Reminds me of Junhino a bit. Looks defo an all round midfielder As regards upfront.. Defoe is a good striker but every time I watch him his scoring tally just isn't good enough..He almost scores loads! Ain't we had that time and time again?... we need someone whose gonna bag us 15-20 goals a season sure thing..we need a Van Nistleroy!
