  1. Absolutely phenomenal. I was at Uni at the time, rehearsing with a band. My missus and my Dad were watching and texting me updates. Can't even begin to explain the sheer state of euphoria I was in when "5-1 Benteke hat-trick" and "6-1 Gabby" came through. Really wish I'd have been around to watch the match but according to what I've seen on the highlights and from what VTers have been saying, this is the performance we've been waiting for all season. I was absolutely bricking it before this, but that was a result way beyond what any of us expected. 1 more win nearly guarantees us safety, so I'm just hoping that the confidence the team gained from this is used to their advantage on Saturday. UTV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. It feels like it was pre-QPR at home. QPR/Redknapp had this big media hype surrounding them because they'd put a good run together, and the same thing is happening with Sunderland now. I hope we can do the same that we did last time and bloody end it. I'm sick of this Di Canio w*nkfest that's going on in the press, and considering how much he's wound us up as of late, we best give them a good battering tomorrow night. We're well overdue to actually hammer a team, rather than scrape a win. Hopefully Benteke has his scoring boots on, and Agbonlahor has a great chance to break Yorke's record, so hopefully he'll repeat his performance against Stoke aswell. Come on Villa, it's in our hands!!
  3. Losing 0-6 to Liverpool, absolutely shocking. This is much worse than our loss to Chelsea, Liverpool are such an average side, and to lose by that margin without Suarez in the side is awful. This is a terrible time for a loss like this to happen.

Please Villa, heads down and get these wins in next week! We'll have a very good idea of our position by Saturday. Massive, massive 2 games.
  5. So Tottenham's 2nd goal was a Boyce own goal. We know that sting all too well.

Very worried about Monday. I only imagine us winning it, so the thought of us losing is quite a scary thought. It's still possible to stay up even if we do lose, but I worry about what the increasing pressure will have on the squad. There will be enough of it in Monday's game, and the last thing we want is even more pressure than they already have. If Sunderland win, this'll be 3 in a row for them, which surely is highly unlikely.
  7. So....We're away, at Old Trafford, with United needing to beat us in order to seal their PL win. All decisions will be in Man U's favour, as the ref will be bricking it if he does otherwise. We'll be fine

Surely we know better than anybody that the teams who won today aren't out of it. We've been in the same position, as in we've won a game when it mattered most and then simply been dragged straight back into it. I'd say every team from Norwich and downwards (excluding QPR and Reading, they've ballsed it up already) is still in this. For us, there's still 5 games left that we can't really afford to write off any of. United will be difficult, but I'm hoping that the lads go in expecting that they can get something from it. 5/6 points, whichever way we get them, isn't a huge ask, and with our current form, it's perfectly manageable. We have quality in our side that nobody in the scrap really matches. Benteke, Gabby, Weimann, Guzan and N'zogbia (sudden burst of energy at the end of the season) will help us stay up. There's enough threat there to see us over the finish line. I just hope and pray that, if we do stay up, Lambert builds on what he's begun to create.

I do worry a bit now to the Sunderland game. They've definitely ended up with the new Manager buzz. It could just be 2 freak results, which is what I'm hoping, but they don't look as terrible as they did with O'Neill. Please Villa, ANYTHING from this United game will give us a massive boost!
  10. No words for how much I despise Di Canio......
  11. The best we can hope for is an Everton equalizer now. Table looks interesting, wouldn't have expected that...
  12. Well, that's Wigan down and out for this game!
  13. Bloody hell, Carroll's pushing it a bit
  14. Get in West Ham, a couple more, please!
  15. Shocking. Also,as soon as Chelsea aren't playing any of our relegation rivals, and all of a sudden they're 2 up before half time, having a stormer. Luck isn't on our side! Please City, do us a bloody favour, Wigan can't continue to be this bloody jammy
  16. Concentration is the key, taking advantage of any chances that we get. A small lapse in concentration, defensively or offensively will turn us over. No individual errors, just belief that if we give it everything then we can nick something from this. I just hope the squad believes this and isn't expecting to just keep the score line against us respectable. I hope Baker will be on form for this!

I don't think any team has nothing to play for, as everyone will be wanting to finish as high in the table as possible, regardless of whether they're fighting relegation or not. Man City, Tottenham and Arsenal aren't gonna go easy on Wigan and the teams in mid table such as Swansea and West Ham are only going to want to push themselves further away from the drop (especially West Ham, 4 points away from us, could easily be dropped back into the mix), Wigan still have a tough run in. We just need to take the chances we have properly.

QPR need to win 3 and draw 1 just to catch us up, and that would be assuming that we don't pick up any more points from any of our last 5 games. QPR and Reading are finished now. I like the idea of it being a cluster of 5 or 6 that we just need to not finish at the bottom of; it makes things seem a lot more do-able. 6 points from 5 games, 4 of those winnable (Yep, I still think Chelsea is winnable), I think (hope!) we'll manage

Leaving aside the fact that Garth Crooks is a complete fruitbat, yes I'll take it too! Nice to see something on the BBC that isn't "Villa are completely f*cked" though

From Garth Crook's Team of the Week on BBC: "Charles has not been the first name on Paul Lambert's team sheet this season but in the last few games he certainly started to look like the player Aston Villa invested in. His goal was a beauty. Collected with the right foot and beautifully dispatched with the left. With N'Zogbia, Christian Benteke, Andreas Weimann and Gabby Agbonlahor, Villa will stay up" I'll take that last bit
  21. They only managed 2 past Stoke, who were absolutely dreadful. We have threats in our squad who are goalscorers, which sets us apart from most of the other teams in this scrap. United are definitely going to withold possession, so really the best we can do is just feed the ball to whoever is upfront (probably the same that it's been the past couple of weeks) as quickly as possible.Outscoring them is our only hope, because we'll most likely get completely battered defensively. It's possible that we could steal something from this if the squad are fired up and not expecting to get turned over straight away. The likelihood is that we'll lose, but I wouldn't be hugely surprised if we didn't.
  22. Every time I watch Chelsea they look less and less threatening. Watch them all of a sudden play world class when they come to VP
  23. Whether he's on the score sheet or not, his pace makes him a genuine threat, and gives the opposition something more to think about. He was really missed yesterday, and I really think we'll need him if we're to stand a chance at getting something from United
