They are a very inconsistent side, we could win or we could get battered.
  2. The lads did well to dig out a win, Guzan motm for keeping us in it in the first half. Football is a game of fine margins and we had a few of them go for us today, which is about time. Let's hope no complacency sets in, thinking we are safe already.

I agree Reading are down and easily the worst team in the division, but we have to hope that they get points out of their games against the other strugglers.
  4. Reading are easily the worst team in this division, a win was vital. Despite our midfield dominance in the second half, we didn't create many clear cut chances until near the end, and all of our defenders were shockingly poor. Sylla was a pleasant surprise, got forward more than I expected. Nothing in this performance fills me with confidence for the QPR game though.
  5. We competed well enough but showed a lack of quality in the final third tonight. Guzan motm, Delph best of the outfield, he will be a big miss for an undeserved yellow.
  6.     No, he has made one good cross, at Everton. That is an area he really needs to work on, normally his crosses are shocking.
  7. I thought KEA actually played quite well in the short time he was on.

    Gidman -poorly

Great player, great hair. Get better soon.
  9. I thought we did ok considering we went a goal down in 5 minutes. The defence wasn't as bad as people expected, and we always looked capable of getting a goal. If Benteke and Nzogbia hadn't both had off days we would probably have got something from this game. Ok, no points, but I think another step in the right direction in terms of looking like a premiership team as opposed to absolute no-hopers.
  10. I thought Delph was our best player first half, not so influential in the second. The defence was a lot better with Baker in, surprised Clark got MoM, he did good things but also looked quite ropey at times. Vlaar looked after Carrol well enough, and I thought Lowton had a good game after a recent dip in form. Benteke and Weiman were poor, but if we can get a win when they have an off day that is a bonus. I can't quite understand Lambert's idea of play a striker at left mid so he can help defend set pieces. All things considered, I think we got away with it today.
  11. Don't think Bowery deserves such a slagging off. He has done ok, although not enough in the final third. Obviously not a wide mid player.
  12. Is Bowery on the wing? I would have thought that guy from Spurs would have been an option instead. Still, looking forward to seeing how he does.
  13. Lowton has shown consistently that he cannot cross a ball, but today he landed one right on the money. Anything is possible!
  14. A point more than most expected us to get. Ok, Reading won, but QPR and Wigan both failed to win what they would have considered winnable games, so all in all it hasn't been a bad day. It is disappointing not to have won, but some of the hysterical overreaction shows that it is some of the posters here that don't have the bottle for a relegation fight, rather than the players.
  15. I keep getting the feeling that Benteke is going to scramble home an untidy winner with 5 mins to go. The fact that I think that even though I'm drunk surely means it is actually going to happen.
  16. I wouldn't want to see Weimann in midfield in a game where we are going to be under pressure for the majority of it, if he isn't up front in a two I'd bench him for this one.

Yes, we have games against the top 6, but we should expect to get at least a couple of points from those games. Other teams at the bottom have scrapped points off the top teams at home, no reason we shouldn't be able to.
  18. He is inexperienced at he top level and is highly unlikely to be ready to go straight into a struggling side in a relegation battle. We need someone to come straight in, improve us and make a difference. I would love to be proved wrong but it won't be this guy. if he can tackle and head the ball he will improve us.
  19. Great summary Shillzz, I wouldn't disagree with any of that.
  20. Yeah, could be a great partnership if we ever get the ball anywhere near the Newcastle third of the pitch.
  21. Bannan's corners are accurate, it is the penalty area that is in the wrong place.
  22. I don't feel anything after this defeat because the cup doesn't mean anything to me. I will be upset if we lose to Newcastle because not being relegated means everything.
  23. We just beat the Capital One Cup finalists, surely that's a massive morale boosting victory?
