From another fan forum: A poster mentioned Grealish has no vision....THIS is why England never do well. Statistically speaking the most creative player, yet gets dropped for England's biggest game in the group. Outside of the statistical realm, Grealish is potentially England's talisman, you can talk about Foden all you wants, but he can't do what Grealish can do. The other day mourinho was talking about how Grealish reminded him of Figo. The confidence, the balance, the agility and the will to consistently take the ball. England finally have that player and have decided not to use him. For what?? Is it because he plays for Villa? So shortsighted and myopic. For me, it's almost disgusting. Does anyone expect him to take Villa to a UCL final? People will be mad about Chilwell, Shaw and Sancho; but this is by far the most disgusting decision. It's not like he wasn't the best player in the friendly games. How good does someone have to be to prove they belong in the first Xi. The truth is, Grealish would start for any other national team, both in Europe and the world. Yet in England, "he doesn't have experience at the top top level". Absolute bs.

Just noticed - where the **** is Sancho and Chilwell?! Not even in the squad? 2 keepers and a half fit Henderson make it but not those two who arguably should be starting?

I do agree with you - Trippier is a very good player. But he is a natural RB - I don’t understand why Chilwell or Shaw wouldn’t start?! Leaving Grealish out and playing Rice and Phillips just shows how **** clueless he is (if reports are accurate that is!)

I really like Mings. I thought his positioning throughout the game was a bit off. He was as good as the rest of the back four - all of whom were poor for me. I think he was nervous to be honest - has a genuine chance of starting next week.

I don’t think he starts. **** ludicrous. He will be the impact sub and Southgate will hide behind lack of fitness. We will struggle and flounder and the media will call for Grealish. Inevitable.

I really hope we see Grealish at his best. They were raving about him against Austria and it was a 6.5 performance.

I think the first game will be: Pickford Walker Stones Mings Chilwell Rice Phillips Foden Mount Sterling Kane Grealish and Sancho should be in instead of Phillips and Sterling. Interesting Grealish keeps playing at 10 and not off the left which in my opinion is his most dangerous position. Henderson cannot start if he cannot get minutes in during these two friendlies.

I don’t think hr will make the cut unfortunately. He is starting White, Godfrey and JWP - looks like they will be auditioning.
