  1. Just wanted to quote this incase we sign Doyle. The Doyle who actually does the Heskey job and basically kept Wolves up with his performances. You expect a manager who signed Emile Heskey not to be interested. Especially when he only likes players from the Premier League? You better go changing your mind quick sharp! Quote me all day, if you've got nothing better to do. As I've said before - I don't rate Doyle. Heskey is our 3rd choice striker and I think we need to replace him with Carew by getting someone better in than we currently have. Doyle is not better than Carew, in my opinion. I didn't rate Dunne either, so I'm not professing to be some sort of expert or modern day nostradamus. What I will do is keep an open mind. If we sign somebody and they do well for us, I don't give a **** who it is. I don't give a **** about 'being right' - all I want is for us to win. If Doyle comes, then fine, I'll support him and give him a fair crack of the whip before I form an opinion. It may pain you but you aren't going to be able to rub this or anything else in my face. But, by all means, keep trying
  2. Fletcher has gone to Wolves. Thankfully. I can't believe people think that him or the likes of Doyle would be good enough for us, yet slag Petrov off. Ridiculous.
  3. Did the people who say Milner is overrated actually watch any football this year? He's a fantastic player and the best we have at the club. We'd have a massive gap to fill without him but I've every faith that MON is able to do so - he managed to replace Laursen and Barry without really breaking a sweat, so we'll be ok but I don't want him to go.
  4. Apparently, Joe Cole is off and Chelsea are after Bennynoon according to The Guardian. Joe Cole would be a good signing if he's over his injury problems. He'd offer us some smart attacking play but I'm not sure where he would fit in exactly.
  5. Im sure you where one of the peoe saying dunne was shit last summer,Doyle is a great player and would do very well in in our team. I would imagine Lex would be fully behind any of the Irish players or from the list above if MON chose to buy them. I was against the signing of Dunne and didn't think it would work out but I was very, very, very wrong - he's class. However, and this is the important part, I am perfectly willing to give players a chance. Whoever MON signs I am willing to give them my support because unlike a lot of people, I realise that I don't know as much as one of the best football managers around in Britain - I'll quite happily eat my words and admit I was wrong if they do well for us because all I care about is the team in general and getting results. People who obviously have too much time to waste form a vendetta against a player before we sign them, then just wait for the first moment for them to **** up and boo them till their lungs bleed. **** that for a game of soldiers.
  6. Keane - past it and would offer us very little. Doyle :| - so average. Any Irish striker ever Belhadj :bonk: Nuts Richards Technically he has pretty much zero ability and lost pace when he bulked up. Ireland :| an inconsistent pisshead. Dorrans - I've never seen play so can't comment. I'd quite like Clyne though.
  7. As I've said before, I can't see what Doyle would offer us up front that we don't already have now - we need someone with skills that we don't have, like good technical ability, an eye for a pass and a creative, intelligent spark.
  8. The stats are posted on the same page to prove it's a crock... what was he thinking?
  9. The problem is that Birmingham is just not a fashionable city for anything, let alone football. Pretty much anyone outside of Birmingham has no regard for it and thinks of it as a shithole with the stereotype of moaning people. It's unfortunate for us and it's a misconception but it's very much alive and a reason why we're struggling to find a sponsor IMO.
  10. First thing I thought when I read the Miguelk link. Summer is here. Why the hell do they bring that rumolur up every f**king summer? Because he's signing for us, can't you see?
  11. Media sensationalist headline. "I’ll be sad if I have to leave." is the last sentence and the crux of the article.
  12. I give credit where credit is due. I have never at any point said that things are 100% rosy but I have and maintain the fact that we are in a very good position and far better than we have been for a very, very long time. I don't want to lose him and I, at no point, have said that losing him would be a positive thing. The only silver lining in that cloud is the money, which is obvious. MON has improved us year upon year - we have consistently got better every season. You can't say 'we're now there' because there is no proof of that fact - we were better than last year in a harder league this year - next season will offer results one way or another but for now it's impossible for you to try and claim that as fact - there is no logic to it. MON has bought well and got in good players - he obviously does prefer players that are proven in the league we play in, but so what? If we're getting better, what does it matter? I think you either just need to cheer up or take some prozac.
  13. Literally frothing at the mouth to try and turn any sort of positive thing negative, aren't you? We had the 7th best goal difference in the league and finished 6th. Who draws every game nil-nil anyway? It's hypothetical bullshit.
  14. This. People are picking names out of the bag on this forum like there's no tomorrow. Do you honestly believe we'll be signing anyone further than the UK? I don't think so. As much as I like MON as a manger and I've said it before, his transfer dealings 75% of the time are over priced or just awful! Saying that I wouldn't let Milner go for any less than 30M. So if we do get that then from MON's point of view who do we bring in? Jermain Beckford? My God. We're crying out for a striker here... 30/08/06 Stilian Petrov 6,500,000 Celtic 12/09/06 Didier Agathe Free Celtic 03/10/06 Chris Sutton Free Birmingham 22/01/07 John Carew Swap Lyon 23/01/07 Ashley Young 9,650,000 Watford 31/01/07 Shaun Maloney 1,000,000 Celtic 05/07/07 Nigel Reo-Coker 8,500,000 West Ham 17/07/07 Marlon Harewood 4,000,000 West Ham 29/08/07 Zat Knight 3,500,000 Fulham 31/08/07 Moustapha Salifou 50,000 FC Wil 30/01/08 Wayne Routledge 1,250,000 Tottenham 03/07/08 Curtis Davies 8,000,000 West Brom 10/07/08 Steve Sidwell 5,000,000 Chelsea 26/07/08 Brad Friedel 2,000,000 Blackburn 01/08/08 Brad Guzan 600,000 Chivas USA 07/08/08 Nicky Shorey 4,000,000 Reading 08/08/08 Luke Young 5,000,000 Middlesbrough 12/08/08 Carlos Cuellar 7,800,000 Rangers 30/08/08 James Milner 12,000,000 Newcastle 23/01/09 Emile Heskey 3,500,000 Wigan 16/07/09 Stuart Downing 12,000,000 Middlesbrough 04/08/09 Fabian Delph 8,000,000 Leeds Utd 07/08/09 Habib Beye 2,500,000 Newcastle 12/08/09 Andy Marshall Free N/A 27/08/09 Stephen Warnock 8,000,000 Blackburn 01/09/09 Richard Dunne 6,000,000 Man City 01/09/09 James Collins 5,000,000 West Ham Ok - this is a list of all the players that he's bought. Detail the 75% that were awful of overpriced. Unless you're an idiot who can't back up his point.
  15. As somebody detailed before - what was the forth best defence and goalkeeper in the country was bought for that. Kind of shits on your point really.
  16. They are and were signed to be bodies. They were never meant to be first team or to be rotated - they are there as back-up in case someone from the first team gets injured. It's clear as **** daylight. Everyone first team player MON has signed, has been good.
  17. This myth about MON being bad in the transfer market... such horseshit. Look at the first team members he bought... Friedel, Dunne, Warnock, Cuellar, Collins, Milner, A.Young, Petrov, Downing, Carew...... all good players. He's hardly spunked a load of money up the wall and compared to every other manager in the league he is up there with those that have a good record.
  18. No, like where Rooney plays - up front but a bit deeper.
  19. The only person there that offers something that we don't already have is Ireland and he does it irregularly. What we need is not so much a prolific goal scorer but rather someone who can link the gap between midfield in attack in the middle of the pitch, dribble, has good control, play clever passes and make good runs and support the other striker. For me, Tuncay would be available and would thrive in our system doing just that.
  20. These kind of players along with mentions of people like Roque "One good season" Santa Cruz are not going to boost the side and would be a waste of time, IMO.
  21. How about Clint Dempsey for a squad player? Could get him for a good price, he's creative, good with the ball at his feet, can play in just about any attacking position, works hard and can score a goal or two.
