  1. NIce move, real quality from Ash. Gab should have done better with the header
  2. Must have been that shocking right hook Kenwyne Jones gave him
  3. Don't want to get involved in you two's regular post-off but, while you haven't actually stated that we should play well in every game, you don't half get your knickers in a twist and go overboard with the criticism whenever we don't.
  4. No such thing as a bad point away in the Prem, so happy with the result. I can't talk about the performance cos I didn't see it. Only thing to add is that Stuart Hall on five live said that Petrov sparkled at times today.
  5. Warm up does 15/20 minutes. Another 15 for the interval. Main act should do at least and hour and a quarter. Less than that I'd feel short changed so I went for half nine. Anything more than two hours from the main act, unless it was absolutely brilliant, I'd be wanting out. I'm the same with films, gigs, the theatre (which is why I don't go much). Haven't got the attention span for more than that.
  6. So why not a 10 then? Cos he didn't save all 5 penalties he faced?
  7. I don't know, you Swedes, coming over here, infected our frothing, bile-filled threads with your reasonable, sensible views.
  8. We have plenty of non-average, flair players (the same ones that were described not so long ago as 'counter attacking on toast' along with additions Delph and Downing) it's just that they're not playing as such at the moment. We are clearly in bad form at the minute, but are still getting results more often than not. Sign of a good side that. Pride of Brum makes a good point. If we are that average, then surely MON is a genius to be getting wins at Anfield, at home to Chelsea and, odd blip aside, steering us to a good league postion and into the QF's of the league cup
  9. And without the goal every other game (or whatever) bit too. Can't take a penno either. My missus watches him every week and reckons he's lazy - an opinion held by quite a few Mackems. Now Darren Bent on the other hand...
  10. I'd echo all of that Paul, only to add that, as well as the defence, Jimmy Milner has to come out with a great deal of credit. He never gave up and was still making the tackles and runs 115 minutes in. I was expecting an easy (ish) ride when I heard the Sunderland team selection, particularly Nosworthy. But to be fair, he did well. Fraiser Campbell wasn't bad either. Not exactly looking forward to the league fixture after that footballing feast, but at least there'll only be a maximum of 90 ish minutes of it. You're right about the journey home too. I was in by 11 and was feeling the pinch after the whole rollercoaster, so god knows how the Midlands massive felt when they finally got back. Can anyone shed any more light on the apparent scuffle that occured by the away gates on the way out? Saw a police horse go in at one point and buffet a Mackem out the road, before the copper on the back had a firm and frank exchange of views with him. Didn't seem to be anything major, but there was a definite sense of aggro in the air. Don't think it escalated, but I didn't hang around to find out. Alan!
  11. Weather report from Wearside: it's pissing down at the minute.
  12. Stay, for the love of God
  13. Thirst. A Korean Vampire thing. Great stuff
  14. Bewdley, but live in the North East and have done for 15 years - stayed up here after Uni
  15. That approach has certainly worked for Paulie Malignaggi anyhow :winkold:
  16. Inspiring stuff lads. After a couple of weeks off due to holidays and a brief but thoroughly unpleasant encounter with the norovirus I headed out this morning. It was a beautiful morning in the North East; fresh, low sun, nice and quiet. So I did 2.5 miles instead of the planned 1.5 gentle loosener. Felt good too.
  17. OK, the cock-up from Drogba's goal aside, he was pretty good for the rest of the match and don't forget his match-saving save at the end from Anelka which probably made up for his mistake. to be honest i havent seen the saves on the tele but at the game they all looked like regulation saves straight at him or near him when i was at the game sort of shots that if they had gone in they would have been bigger cock ups than the goal he conceded. like i said, i havent seen it on the tele so i am willing to change my view once i have seen them again No, you're spot on SandL. Big Brad would have expected to make all the saves he needed to today, including the one he cocked up. He's saved us enough points since he's been with us with classy saves for me to forgive his howler today mind.
  18. Lol - I thought it was. Not even that could spoil it for me. Who, guys?? He used to rant, but now he sniffs pants* Walking in an rjw63 wonderland *not my words - check his profile
  19. Lol - I thought it was. Not even that could spoil it for me.
  20. Man, it's quiet on here considering that's 6 wins in a row.
  21. Very respectable result, from a strong, but undeniably second string side against potentially dangerous opponents. So I am happy, yes. Would be even more so if I could see the goal. Anyone got a link?
  22. Particularly as your local is full of high profile, ex-Newcastle players eh Paul? All the more reason to give it large I reckon. Oh, and I didn't want to say before as it was going in the N.E Lions newsletter, but for those of you non North-East residents who haven't worked it out FTM stands **** The Mags. As a result you see loads of personalised numbers plates around Sunderland with that acronym. In fact, a mate of mine used to work for Sunderland council and would help out on kids activity days with kite-flying, bouncy castles, that type of thing. One day, when he was on face-painting duty, those three letters were seen emblazoned on 6-year olds foreheads right accross Wearside
