  1. https://www.facebook...136953742991074 What a cretin, he ran off and did charity work with sick kids.... fair play to him, knew there would be a decent excuse, explains gabbys hasty exit too.
  2. Saw the interview and you can only agree with him. Can't blame a guy for not wanting to be rotated out. He also hinted he wants to work hard and get a run in team. Can't fault any of that.
  3. At the start of the season you accused him of buttering up fans to win votes for player of the year, now hes a tosser for ignoring them. Does he want them on his side or not?? Or did you just feel the need to pipe in with the tosser comment? Leaving an open day like this without an excuse isn't on. I completely agree. The truth is there could of been a number of reasons why he wasn't able to stay on. Physio, hospital appointment, family commitments.
  4. This was my point earlier, it probably wouldn't of went unnoticed by the rest of the staff, surely he would have had to get permission to do so and there is a reasonable explanation. I normally have to explain myself when I leave work early to my superior.
  5. Thats very disappointing. Surely he would of had to get some permission off the club to do leave early considering others hung around with the fans and some even did interviews with sky etc. He seemed to do his share from what id seen in the past like at acron and on the tour in America with some of the unknown players. The wrist isn't a great excuse in my opinion, unless he had an appointment to get it seen to. If he can play he can sign autographs. Signing autographs is the least they can do.
  6. haha true. Grasping at straws I suppose
  7. I can accept that point but again, like CI you ignored my questions. Its very easy to come on here and criticize players and question their wages. A manager is paid millions to pick the team. He picks a team and plays a style of football that are completely incompatible with each other and we come on and give out about the players. Doesn't make sense to me. As an aside I think Ireland could play the role Delph is doing quite easily.Ireland played deeper in more than one game last season and was quite adequate. Sunderland comes to mind immediately. Delph is doing his role well no doubt but at the same time he has KEA helping him do the job of one person. He is getting on the ball a lot but passing it backwards and sideways. Ireland and Bannan could both do this. Delph is probably a better tackler.
  8. Fair enough, to be honest I've never had to get a work permit and wasn't aware what was required.
  9. Did anyone go along to this morning or there now ? How did things look? Was lambert taking the session? What did it look like we were working on? Does curruthers still train with the seniors? Any info be appreciated.
  10. His no show?? Was his problem not work permit related or something?
  11. I hate the way people assume if we get rid of Bent, Ireland or CNZ off the wage bill we'll bring in absolute quality. Firstly whatever money we get, RL will probably take a cut out off and secondly we will be paying lower wages. Saw we get 12m, 4m, and 6m (that would be assuming people would buy them and optimistic prices) gives un 22m Randy probably pulls 4-8m. What players can we bring in for 14-18m that will improve our squad that much given we will probably only be offering 30k a week wages. It will be january so I dont really want to take a punt on some unprovens like we have already in Bowrey, Westwood and Benteke (think hell come good soon). Bearing in mind its January and the purchase price of potential replacements will be inflated.
  12. Why is it hard to leave someone out on those wages?? Players should play on merit. Lambert didn't sign him or give him a contract. He has no allegiance to Ireland. He plays him because he believes he is the best option. He obviously felt we missed him given he rushed him back in after injury. He was taken off on 67 mins, granted he was poor, but there was about 7 of them in that boat. Lambert may have just felt he was tiring too having not played for 3 weeks. None of us can second guess Lambert at this stage with some of the decisions he has made. Serious question, would appreciate a non sarcastic remark such as "score goals hes on 68k a week". What do you expect a player to do at the top of the diamond if the other midfielders aren't getting him the ball? 1) Drop deeper? - Two problems here, we then end up with 4 midfielders who wont get out of our own half and secondly, in the unlikely scenario we do actually win one of the 100 balls we hoof forward there's no one there for the knockdown. If you look back in the thread he actually did drop deeper earlier in the season and got slated on here for it. 2) Make himself more available? - On numerous occasions on saturday I saw Bent, Ireland and Gabby in space calling for the ball but Delph and KEA turned backwards and gave it to the full backs/centre backs to bang long. This was pointed out in the live chat (which is a great addition to the site BTW). Attacking players need the ball played forward quickly not our midfielders to slow it down and leave the opposition get back into shape. The truth is if our manager says he wants to play one type of football but his team are resorting to long ball all game, he should play the players that suit the system. He clearly wasn't unhappy with the style of football in his post match interview so one must question his team selection. Is Bent rubbish because he gets no service. No. Is Ireland rubbish because he's not creating anything because he isn't getting the ball. No. All you can expect from these players is hard work in this situation which is one thing Ireland is never lacking.
  13. Just watched his post match interview there...wow Not only are his team starting to play more and more like Mcleish's with the hopeless long balls, he is now watching completely different games than the rest of us similar to Alex last year. "Some of the football we played was great" , What bloody football is he on about, pass it square, backwards and hoof it long?? That is not football and he knows it, "We coped really well throughout the game", we weren't coping well at all, they should of scored two headers in the first half, we were very lucky, our fullbacks looked like an accident waiting to happen. Sometimes managers need to come out and say it's not good enough, and I don't want to wait for a 6 nil drubbing before we hear it.
  14. he has no role if we insist on playing long ball, its not his fault the other midfielders cant get the ball to his feet, him and bent got no service. You excuse KEA in other threads, yet its his role to get Ireland the ball and hes been failing to do so (like when other players play on top of the diamond), put your bias aside for a game or two and watch the role of other playmakers in opposition teams and the role of players around/behind them. Easy knowing he'd be the only player youd have a pop off even though the full backs were poor...delph and KEA are doing the job of one person, bent was non existent, holman is just running... give it a rest man
  15. our two centre halves played more long balls each than any other defender in the league, ten each.... so much for football
  16. are you winding me up?? He needs to get the ball from the deep lying midfielders who persisted in passing it back to the CBs to bang long all game. The one time they got the ball to him at the start of the second half he almost created a goal.
  17. How can you excuse Bents performance based on lack of service and not Irelands??
  18. We cant sell him, well need goals... we need to get service to our strikers and support them in attack, our midfielders jobs aren't done when the ball goes forward. If we sell we'll get 11-13m
  19. Reporters , the owners and even the team need to start asking him some tough questions and he needs to reply both on and off the pitch. Hes picked the wrong line up time and time again, made the wrong substitutions, signed average players who aren't ready and has a tendency to laugh of problems in interviews. We dont look like a team. Its not good enough.
  20. Why do you think that is? Bent is a proven goal scorer (Spurs, Sunderland etc), Ireland a proven creator of goals (man city), Gabby gets his fair share. These were all well respected seen as good signings by most and now are fans are arguing whose the worst out of them. what gives?? Unfortunately its a team game. Teams attack and defend as units, we dont. Look at other teams, they have midfielders who get into the box and score (Noble, Nolan, Michu to name but a few today). Ours dont, Delph and KEA take five touches until there both ten yards from our box, our defenders hoof it long and the gap is too big....time and time and time again... Whats holmans job?? to make tackles is it?? He doesnt run with the ball, find passes or anything else If this is his job why are delph and KEA doing the same role. Our midfield is so unbalanced. Raging.
  21. Very frustrated primarily with Lambert. Our performances simply haven't been good enough. There is no fluidity in the final third. Are we doing anything on this in training? Our midfield is hopeless. Properly useless. It has no shape at all. Its not a diamond, its not a 312, its nothing. What is the purpose of Delph and KEA?? they are way to similar. They both constantly take too many touchs, turnaround and force us to play long ball every game. I dont know how many times I was screaming at the screen for them to roll it to Ireland, Bent and Gabbys feet in space but they took an extra touch and played it back to the CBs. Its not good enough. I'm so fed up of people giving out about Bent, Ireland and Gabby. What are they ment to do. They get absolutely no service. We dont have wingers, we dont play the ball to their feet, we dont even play balls for them to run onto. Our defenders simply hit there defenders heads. Lambert has not stamped "his style" on this team at all. The only difference is instead of launching it from the outset, our midfielders and defenders pass it between eachother a little bit before they send it long. its embarrassing. Allied to this, because he hasn't got to grips with out midfield and we have no width, our inexperienced full backs are being overrun. If they were going to play long balls (as they did) it was ridiculous not to start Benteke. Then in the second half when they were there for the taking he took off our only person who can score. His decision making is awful. Guzan 6 - Did all was asked of him Lowton 6 - Sloppy at times, little help from holman, over ran at times, tried hard Vlaar 6 - ok, solid Baker 6 - didn't leave himself down Bennett 6 same as lowton Delph 6 - did his job ok, just dont see why him and KEA are doing the same role, its pointless KEA 5 - took this easy pass too often to the centre backs, given hes been playing ahead of delph hes not doing his job for me Holman 5 - quietest game so far, poor in position Ireland 5 - good with ball, no service at all, tired around 60 Gabby 5 - Bright at start, faded badly, no service Bent 5 - Got nothing today, really felt sorry for him
  22. couldnt be more fed up of delph and KEA. All they do is pass to each other and go backwards. Someone has to take a chance and drive the team forward from there. Ball retention without penetration is simply not enough.
  23. Really think the ball is taking to long to get from deep midfield to attack, Delph and KEA keep turning backwards forcing our defenders to play long ball when alot of the time Gabby, Holman and Ireland have been in space....very frustrating. Theyve missed chances and are there for the taking now.
  24. Just call me paul down the bookies now and backing bent to score and win for us after that... ** shit didnt see the baker for clark one...false alarm
  25. Guzan Low Clark Vlaar Bennett Delph Holman KEA Ireland Gabby Bent ment to be a 412111 if people get what im trying to show with gabby wide attacking left and holman narrow. Have a funny feeling this could be a chelsea-esque performance similar to last year, and expecting goals from Bent.
