  1. He got better as game went on. Takes a good run in the team for a player like him to start to show what hes got. I think he will turn out to be one of our best players. Big speak i know but i see something in him that u dont see all the time. He always wants the ball as well which is a really good sign
  2. Was really poor performance up to the 76th min. Pos stats were poor again. In saying that cardiff were happy with the draw. I think that says something as last year nobody would have went for the draw against us.
  3. I thought he was one of our best players today. Cardiff didnt get anything down that wing thanks to him and he also put in a few good crosses
  4. Even if we didn't win, you don't score 3 goals if your intention is simply to not lose. Not only did we win, we limited Man City to a couple of scruffy set piece goals, so I'd say the 3-5-2 worked brilliantly then. And while West Ham didn't have any recognized strikers, they flooded plenty of bodies into the box and launched something like 40+ crosses into our box, which our 3 CB's dealt with comfortably. I'd hate to imagine if it were only 2 CBs and Lowton constantly out of position, one or more of those crosses may have been lethal. You will see this happen against the top sides. They will still be forced to go for it and our counter attacking tatic will stil work against them. When we play the teams like ourselves they will sit back as well and we will see alot more 0-0 IMO. The counter attack system wont work against these teams as they have caught on to it and this is why im slightly worried for our next 10 games.
  5. Right lets not get carried away. We kept clean sheets against 3 teams who dont have a striker among them and we only scored 1 goal. Yes a big improvement on last year but still not much to be proud of,1 goal, is it? I could manage a team not to conceed against that 3 at the expense of not score ourselves.
  6. They play different roles. Ramsey is playing further forward than Wiltshire this season. Though this is now quite off topic! True this is about Westwood of course. Our midfield is probably our weakest area now our defence has improved. Maybe it always was our midfield. The amount of times last year i saw Vlaar being pulled out of Position to cover for them and then we conceded. To the naked eye it prob looked all Vlaars fault but allot of the time it wasnt. Our new defence coach has prob told him to stay in CB now Everton's first goal was due to this. Im not sure about this and will probably be corrected but was Liverpools goal this season something similar

  8. Call me a traditionalist, but I expect midfielders to actually have some ability on the ball rather than without it. Otherwise we may as well sign Mo Farah, bet he could put in a cracking shift. tbh none of them are that bad individually, but they really do not complement each other at all. I think they do compliment each other, but yesterday it was pretty dreadful. I think Sylla compliments Delph and Westwood, as we saw last season. Delph is a lot better than KEA, he is basically our 'Cabaye'. A poor mans version but a version at least. I'd actually like to see Bacuna given another chance outside of the right back role, whether it be in the middle of the park or out in the wing. Maybe Bacuna and Delph with Sylla sitting behind them to mop up. Bacuna and Delph are both quick and attack minded, but they can also defend well. Might be worth a shot. Not sure about Bacuna back in midfield. He really was shocking against Liverpool. I mean really really aweful
  9. I`m going to blame our new defensive coach for our dour rubbish play. He obvs has some input into tightening us up at the expense of playing football
  10. If we lose our next home game I can see a very large section of fans making their feelings known to Lambert. Im not sure that will be the case after next week. We have played allot of the top teams so he still has some grace. Give him another 5 games against teams with same ability and see how we are. If we play like we did against westham in them, then their will be unrest.
  11. This pretty much sums it up for me. You would think he only took over in 2010 the way some go on! I don't recall anyone denying that Lerner is at least partially to blame for all that wasted money. I've seen many. Lots like to push nearly all of the blame onto MON and give poor Lerner an easy ride due to his so-called 'naivety' and now we are supposed to be grateful to him for clearing up his own mess which is obviously in his interest anyway. I never thought this was the case either and dont see very many standing up and supporting Lerner on this site. Everyone knows he has to shoulder allot of the blame. Feel free to reply to this if u support lerner
  12. That's not summing up Westwood as much as it's summing up our problems as a team going forward. Our forwards were up front and well marked, not moving, and while there was miles of space over on the right wing, where was Lowton? Hanging back defending against West Ham's zero strikers. Westwood dithered on the ball because there was no available pass, and no one was willing to make the move and offer themselves to receive it. Delph might have dribbled past a few guys and tried a shot, but Westwood's not really a dribbler. In fact I don't even know what he was doing that far upfield! It's the furthest forward I've seen him this season. Westwood did finally play the ball wide - to Weimann, who was about three yards offside. The ball went out for a throw. As far as his performance yesterday, I would say "anonymous" is about the kindest thing I could say about it. Where KEA and Sylla gave the ball away at what I would call an alarming rate, Westwood only gave it away at what I would call a concerning rate. His corners were poor as usual. We had one corner in the entire match. He still shouldnt be taking the corners though. Extremely poor at them. How hard is it really to take one. Im sure bacuna could wip in a good one the odd time
  13. Could you blame him. I dont understand why he came, knowing all the cost cutting that was to come. Very strange. Maybe Lerner said he will give him a truck load once he has got rid of all the chaf.
  14. They'd be just as frustrated if we were fighting for top four. There's no patience among fans today and having so much coverage of the game in the media and on the net just adds to the frustration. We're in transition and we're steadily improving. If we finish comfortably mid-table this year that will be progress and allows us to build again for improvement next year. All this moaning and failure to see the bigger picture smacks of the Venky's boardroom at Blackburn Rovers. Not sure what you`re on about but if you even bothered to read last years posts u will see most had patience even after 8-0 defeat and saw a progression. We have went back this year and are playing shocking hoof football, backed up by possision stats. We all saw the bigger picture last year but that has been coloured out. Getting sick of Lambert coming out with same tripe every week after matches which isn't true. Giving your user name, you are obvs a Celtic/Scott and will back Lambert no matter what. P.s I was Lambert's biggest fan last year and I'm only now starting to get feed up.
  15. Bottom line our midfield is crap. In most things in life u get what u pay for. Bar Delph who was bought when Lerner was spending money the other 5 who played their this season have a combined total of around 7-8 million. IMO that wouldn't buy u one good midfielder these days never mind 5 of prem quality
  16. The system and tactics Lambert has the midfield playing it would be difficult for any of them to shine. Though in saying that, IMO Delph and Sylla are goodgood midfielders. The other two are average and that's me being kind
  17. That's what I was trying to say last night. I don't understand how we have done a complete uturn in style from what we played the end of last season. Every ball we play now is a hoof by passing the middle.
  18. Out of our midfielders he would be one of the first names id have on team sheet. Needs a run of games to get up to speed though
  19. Of course their goals kept us up. But Sylia also was a main reason.
  20. Sylia was one of the main reasons why we stayed up last season when he started playing
  21. Average would be quite generous. No wonder we are starting to play hoof ball, when midfield offer nothing.
  22. I think it will unless lambert gives the midfield a bit of a licence to push forward. From the way we set up against a team like west ham with no strikers thats not going to happen.
  23. Did we have a plan though ? - I always thought Baker coming in for Clark was key, Lambert dispensed totally with Ireland \ Bent - and we knew what we had to do.......win games !!!!!! draws wouldn't be enough. Did we have a plan ? or did the best team + tactics present itself ?. Weiman IMO should have been dropped a few games back (much like Clark last season) - so perhaps the best combination will present itself again. Whilst I haven't been taken with Kozak - Benteke came to life when he came on today ..... Yes but we had bought young players and gave them the opportunity to go out and express themselves. This year it just seems we are so negative. I know our young players can player better than they are let play at the moment by Lambert. Maybe its a case that we have take 1 step back to take 2 steps forward. Ive my doubts but i really hope so
  24. Last year we played good football and stayed up. Everyone was pleased as we had a plan and all could see a bright future. Reason i am so disappointed this season is that we look like we have went backwards. I was Lamberts number 1 fan last season as my post history will show, but im starting to weaver. Not only is the football we are serving up shocking but lamberts transfer buys made no sense. I ask u all this. Would u rather finish 14/15th and play good football or play mcleish style and finish 10/11th. I know id rather be entertained and look like we are progressing. People wont like this but we are starting to turn into a hoof team and vilas boas might prove to be to far off the mark.
  25. Never saw the game today. Was he his usual average self today again?
