  1. Please please please please please. Yep, would be my #1 choice also. Problem is he would want £20-30m to spend (saying that, whoever is appointed will need that...but wont get it). That's the thing though, if he was appointed we could probably be sure of there being big money spent in the summer. Exciting times ahead then i just worry for the youth IF he got appointed  Id worry for the catering staffs jobs in the Villa Canteen. He would be gone like a shot if something better came along so I think we should stay clear.

  4. Not one to plug bookies, but why has Rafa came away in on the betting over the past 15mins. Was 36/1 now into 14/1 on Betfair
  5. 2 million compensation i believe. Be better than paying anything to McAllister
  6. Okay I don’t claim to be ITK but 1 read a post 2 weeks ago on a betting forum from a guy who was adamant that Poyet was the next Villa Manager but it would take 3 - 4 weeks. Same guy posted last night saying Villa were due to talk to Poyet today or tomorrow. Hope its the case.
  7. I think Gus Poyet fits RL's criteria perfectly. Cheap and easy to get with potential. Cant imagine him turning Villa down either so no risk of being embarrassed yet again. IMO if we have no money we could do worse.
  8. I think any manager looking at our squad would need similar. I mean Mcleish spent 20M last year, not that you'd realise it given some of the rubbish he acquired. We need 5 players of reasonable quality and 2 back ups I would guess. How much for reasonable quality ? 6 or 7 MILL? Thats 32.5M right there, then the back ups at 3M each you are looking at 38-39M if you want to set the squad straight and avoid the pressure of relegation, in my opinion obviously Yeah i would agree with that. Are they going to get that type of money? Personally I would think not. Thus leaving us to go for a manager who is looking to make a name for himself in prem league or a Journey Man. Gus Poyet and Alan Curbishley spring to mind. The latters odds coming in as i speak.
  9. Being realistic, what type of money would Villa have to offer Lambert or Martinez to rebuild the squad before they even considered coming? I think it would have to be up near 35-40mill. Not that i am on for Martinez. Flavour of the month... Wigan were bottom of the league for 7 months of the season
  10. And he got sacked by Leeds when they were in div 1(3 if you wish). Not sure were this came from. Maybe its get money on managers that got sacked by leeds and were employeed by Villa at one stage day.
  11. £8m???? Not even Jesus Christ as the Villa manager could keep us up with the squad we've got, and so little to spend. That MUST be pure speculation or a wind up. £8m and 50% of players sell on fees was talked about on here last Saturday when OGS went back to Norway. I really hope it was rubbish.
  12. Im convinced if there was a decent budget for players OGS would be our manager now. We are worse prposition now - than we were each of the 2 previous season . DM has nothing to gain and everything to loose by joining us Would be a bombshell if he even agreed to discuss it. I think there has to be money available. Reason being we are relegated if there is not. We need to buy at least 6 quality players to stay up next season and im not talking Alan Hutton type players. So this is why i am pinning my hopes on the likes of Moyes.
  13. Why do we think David Moyes is totally out of the question? RL went for him after O'Neill left, wasnt put off and went for him the next year after Houlier left. Yes everyone says he wont leave Everton. Well I would have agreed with this in the past but i think this summer might be different. Rumors are Everton are trying to get him to sign a new contract. He may be thinking its time for a change as his hands are tied there. Who knows how much RL might give him to rebuild a shocking villa squad. We are only guessing at talks of 8 million being available. Wouldnt be much of a chairman who would tell OGS this in a first formal chat. We are starting to get the wage bill down O'Neill left us with so who knows.
