First half I would agree with you. But in the second half, they looked the more dominant team. Looks like they took a while to get into the game. Yeah i wrote that at end of first half. Con I've been pretty much on your side with regards to Banaan getting too much undeserved abuse thus far, however now, you surely must be taking the piss re Kiyotake being his replacement? I never understood the joke Bannan has turned into with some of our fans when we have someone like Ireland and Hutton at the club on alot more money and never came through the ranks.

I feel sorry for Lambert slightly. I reckon he came in thinking he would be able to get rid of the chaff quicker than has happened (thats if it even does happen). It will definitely have slowed his plans down a good deal. Also while filling the squad with young players has worked out well, l i still think to push on you have to add 1 or 2 quality youngish players at a stage. People using the argument 'it worked out well in the past for us' have to realise Lambert and MON/McLeish have totally different ideas on what type of player to buy to build a team. We can’t judge Paul Lamberts buying ability of a quality player for around 12-15 million on that of his predecessors. Just to put this straight, I think we need 1 or 2 quality signings of the 10-12 million mark to push on to the next level and bring the cheaper guys along with them. Im not talking about anymore players than that.

According to Joe Kinnear at Newcastle, they had met with Bent's representative's last week and agreed things from that point of view, and they were currently in negotiations with Villa about a transfer fee. I think Bent will go, but later in the window as one of the parties (maybe us, maybe Newc or Fulham) compromise and do the deal. It will probably be in the last week of the window, maybe even deadline day. We will have some deals lined up in case it happens late, assuming we want to re-invest in the squad at that point. So what I am saying is that I think we won't see a Kiyotake or AM signing until very late in the window, similar to the Benteke deal last summer. I thought he said there'll be no more marquee signings, which is for anyone to guess what that means. Yes, a £10m signing could be a marquee signing but it can also be thought that a marquee signing is someone more well known. Or is it just about money?
