  1. How do we know we dont have a replacement? I know one of the journos was saying we hadn't stopped looking at CB's after signing Vlaar, so it's more than possible that we do have a replacement lined up. However there is also what MM said, that after Dunne leaves Herd will be the 4th CB.
  2. I personally think we'll see 3, maybe 4 signings. LB, CM, Striker and a CB if we sell Dunne.
  3. Sell sell sell, just good sense to replace him now if we can as we'll get a fee + save around £2.5m in wages over the last 12 months of his contract. If he stays we give him that £2.5m and dont receive a fee next summer and still need to replace him. £3m for Hutton and Dunne to Stoke? Actually for £5m they can take Hutton, Dunne and Warnock. lol.
  4. Couldnt the Mystery Black Bloke have just been one of the other players' chauffeurs?
  5. Possibly, but Blackburn wouldnt want Warnock unless they were selling Olsson so somebody must be buying him. Hopefully us, probably end up being Sunderland lol.
  6. @FootballDave01 Villa have placed a 'substantial' bid for Matt Jarvis. Had never heard of him until yesterday (the twitter guy). Basically a more renowned twitter 'ITK' who has had a few things right, recommended one of his 'sources' who had recently signed up to twitter, who in turn recommended this FootballDave01 as one of his sources. (I dont usually follow any unless they have a few things right but taken a bit of a gamble on these two as theyve been recommended)
  7. Lol piss off, he is injury prone, made 8 appearances all last season and the quoted price could be as high as £9.5m. It would be idiotic to sign him. Lol, piss off. He had a bad injury last season. So that now means he's useless. Didn't Vlaar have a bad injury a few years back, is he useless? He's played a key part helping spurs break the top 4 and was good enough to become their captain at one point and win their player of the year. Also it wasn't that long ago that a decent player named Carlos Tevez said Dawson was the best English defender he'd played against. Can we please sign more British players who did something good with their career 2+ years ago, I feel like we dont sign enough...yeah I've thought about it and I'd like to sign a couple more of them. He isnt useless (and I never said so so not sure where you got that from*) but at £9.5m he would be a ludicrous waste of money and he would command high wages, he's a decent player when he isnt injured, god knows if he will come back from it as the same player and he wasn't exactly brilliant anyway. £9.5m could get us two, possibly 3 players who'd be just as good as Dawson (much better than him if he gets injured again, which is likely). *You made it up.
  8. Lol piss off, he is injury prone, made 8 appearances all last season and the quoted price could be as high as £9.5m. It would be idiotic to sign him.
  9. Very good player, starting to get on a bit, not hungry enough to play for a midtable team anymore as shown by his lack of respect for Fulham recently. Ive always liked Clint but he's really let himself down the last few weeks. Will he want to come here and be competing with Fulham? I imagine he will end up going to a European team abroad somewhere.
  10. Last Seasons Albrighton + £20m > Last Seasons Stewart Downing. Actually, Last Seasons Albrighton > Last Seasons Stewart Downing.
  11. Warnock at V Festival yesterday so not even with the squad for the game vs West Ham I presume, clearly not in our plans?
  12. Michu to Swansea, Diame to West Ham, Clyne to Southampton, Ramirez to Southampton (if it goes through) Lukaku to West Brom Pretty much anybody Newcastle signs/have signed
  13. Agreed and just imagine what the result would have been yesterday if Carroll had gone to spam? 0-0.
  14. Norwich's most common formation last season was: ------GK RB-CB-CB-LB ------DM ----CM-CM ------AM ----ST-ST It's not very wide, admittedly alot of their attacking play was from down the sides (around 37% for Right and 34% Left). However on average Norwich's passes per game last season were: Short Passes: 77% Long Passes: 17% Crosses: 5% So it is fairly direct with almost 20% long balls but not booting it outwide to cross it in (as their wide players were the fullbacks).
  15. Leftback is a huge priority, Baker did alright there yesterday on the defensive side of the game. That said only 23% of our attack yesterday were started from the Left hand side, compared to 39% on the right so it's clear that a more attacking Left back would help us out in this area and open up our attacking options to be more fluid.
  16. His drive in the middle of the park, very similar to Milner / Gerrard in this respect. He can take a very good shot from outside the box His passing is good, he's no Xavi or Iniesta and doesn't exactly make Hollywood passes but he can move the ball about if needed (not yesterday i admit) He can take a sublime freekick. Most importantly to us, he makes late runs into the box and can score with his head, something our midfield has lacked for a while.
  17. It doesn't suit us at the minute but in 18 months it will do. You can already see that El Ahmadi and Vlaar will work well in that system they were doing short passes and working it well across the back and it's clear to see we will be a decent footballing side in a few years. We also have the advantage that our youth players have played decent football in the youth team and reserves, players like Clark, Gardner and in the future Grealish, Graham and Carruthers will have a much easier transition into the first team, something we have been awful at over the years. This will be good for us in the long run, we still have so many remnants of the MON and McLeish years at the club which were totally inept in technical ability (not discussing eithers positives or other negatives but their sides were not technical). One Lambert has gotten in his own replacements for Dunne, Warnock, Petrov and some more attacking minded players I think we'll be a much more effective team. However, it will take time. Can we please just give him it?
  18. We lost 1-0 to a Big Sam team who were playing at home. It's almost to be expected, you cant create many chances vs those kinds of teams and it was their first game back in the prem. We have 3 guys in from the Dutch league who (I imagine) dont have to deal with football like West Hams in the Eredivisie, they will adjust. We'll finish top half. Ridiculous thread.
  19. Gabby works well in anti-football teams and would fit in well at Stoke i think. Could see him going to Stoke. Not sure i'd be too annoyed by it, Villa through and through.. but for 60k+ a week and roughly £15m for him we could probably get better, maybe not as loyal, but I could understand it if he left.
  20. Isn't Bent on around 80-100k a week in wages? Moving to Stoke wouldn't be a big payday for him, it would be downsizing his pay massively and I cant see them giving him the circa £3m sign-on bonus we gave him either...? Not to mention Randy would want a profit on our £24m or to atleast break even. Surely Stoke can find better value than that for somebody they're just going to ping balls over the head of anyway?
  21. Delph isn't a DM though, so of course anybody would pick Herd to be a DM over Delph... as Delph cant play that position, he's an attacking minded midfielder and he's never going to be be a decent DM. Should be played at CM, AM, at a push Left Winger and if truly desperate as an attacking LB
