  1. Arsenal were dreadful, good point on the whole. Very boring game but they should take some heart from it. Got to back it up with a win on Tuesday which will be a very tricky game. I think with Ireland and Bent restored we'll have the extra quality to make it count. Anxious to hear the extent of concretes' calf injury
  2. Jeff Stelling just said he's told DB left out because he still having problems with his ankle.
  3. Dont see how its been reported Bent is fit, Lambert re-iterates he has no problem with him, he's trained well, etc. We are at home in desperate need of points and that Bowery geeza is on the bench in front of DB9
  4. True, tiny minnow club theyll always be
  5. Im pleased tescobags 2-0 up just not pleased how much they fans are obv lovin it with top of the midlands chant
  6. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/arsenal-boss-arsene-wenger-is-a-fan-332442 Arsene Wenger has revealed Arsenal scouted Villa’s “typical English centre-forward” and Gunners fan Christian Benteke while he was still at Genk. Wenger reckons Belgian football is becoming a breeding ground for top players, having previously being regarded dismissively. “We have looked at him, yes,” said Wenger. “We had already signed Olivier Giroud. It was interesting. I was surprised when he signed at Villa. I believe he has scored some important goals with complete power. “He is a little bit a typical English centre-forward, that style has disappeared a little bit, but you still have some players like that, like Grant Holt. “Belgium produces players. Maybe they are a championship we don’t give enough credit. We go ‘Okay, he is doing well, but he is in Belgium’. “But look at the number of players they have produced recently: Mousa Dembele, Eden Hazard, Axel Witsel, they go all out.
  7. Bogey team? Yea we've done alright at the emirates a few times but theyve turned us over time and time again at VP. last win was 1998 wasnt it 3-2? 14 years without a home win and he reckons we're their bogey side. Haha
  8. This is the game that will set our goal difference from the rest. My God, the next lot of fixtures will be the most important for a long long time for AVFC
  9. Yea been a shite wkend results wise but we've rode our luck in weeks gone by with all the draws etc that went our way. Its just embarrassing that we always have to look for other teams to do us favours. Been that way for too long.
  10. Yea just watched it. Seems a top bloke. Down to Earth - my favourite signing for a while. As they just said, we would be pretty much fukkd if he got injured
  11. They can still qualify on 8 points winning their last 2 vs. Madrid and Dortmund but would still need a favour from Ajax. So its unlikely but they have to have a go. Theyll still put out one of their strongest teams today though. Expecting a bad day ahead
  12. Well they might rest a couple with Madrid coming up, or maybe they learned after last time
  13. 2 wins at the Etihad in one season? Cant see it just hoping for a decent performance. 4-0 city with full time making us think "back to square 1". Key will again be to not concede early or the floodgates could open
  14. My main concern now is this: Good performance , we as fans were 75 percent sure we would still lose despite being 2-0 up at home. But I cant see us giving a repeat performance at the Etihad, a defeat there and then against Arsenal will be a morale killer going into the Reading game which again will be must win. Yes we did conjure up a decent showing against arguably the best side in the league but if we could of held on for even a point it would of done so much for the side. But the manner of the defeat and nil points hurts, and I dont know if we can come up with something similar saturday. So anxious now to get points on the board because I donr know if this young side have the bottle to scrap when we really need it. Only time will tell. Gotta keep the faith
  15. I remember gabby making smalling look a mug when we won 2-0 at fulham a few years bk and was glad to see him on the teamsheet again Great goal I will be buzzin if we can hold on. I just hope we do the same things second half and not just sit back and get picked off. Come on you Villa
  16. Great work from tekkers Havent celebrated in my living room like that for a long long time
  17. Weimann looks a bit out of place. Good that weve kept RVP and Rooney quiet so far
