Do they do a special deal where if you wear a beanie hat and huge headphones you can sit there for 8 hours, nursing one coffee?

With exactly that in mind , there was a business proposal that one of the coffee shop chains  were investigating a few years back whereby if you “drink in” the coffee would be free and you paid an hourly charge for the table

nothing seems to have come of it so I guess the one coffee for 8 hours plan is still the sound one

  2. We’ve got a couple of frogs living in our pond , they are kinda tame now so I go out there and they will come over to me for a tickle … I quite often pick them up and take them for a walk around the garden ( ie scare Mrs H with them if she is out there )

toads on the other hand , big ugly bastards , I found one of them in the pond once , he got pinged over the fence into the neighbours garden

My first game was Wolves v Honved

    could be a decent thread

mine was Arsenal v Villa with my Arsenal supporting Dad and brother  ( family are from North London)

Villa won courtesy of a Malcolm Macdonald own goal , I supported villa to annoy my brother and the rest is history

I've heard a few people say this but I can't remember many recent Winters where I've had to defrost the car so much in the morning.

Worst for that in years I reckon.

don't you just set the car on a timer to do this    #smug

  5. I binged "Messiah" the other week

shame it got canned and no season 2 as I thought it was quite a decent series  and left you with just enough is he or isn't he moments

fairly sure he is just a naughty boy  and that the young Syrian kid would turn out to be the messiah [/spolier]

As a child, my first ever LP I purchased was Mistletoe and Wine, still have nightmares now

might have told this previously  but ..

with the NCT group we did a curry and vinyl night  , basically bring a record along that meant something to you and why ( not really my bag , but despite them being soppy Guardian reading lefties they are an ok bunch so we are friends and  thus have random nights out )

Russ played Julia's song by OMD , the story of picking it was that he gone to a party pulled some girl , woke up the next morning in her room and there was a picture of her with Andy Mccluskey ( from OMD for those who are Philistines and don't know who he is) .. He said oh cool  , how did you meet Mccluskey , she replied I was in a band with him ( ID  , which was kinda slightly before they became OMD I believe) and wrote a song with him  .. that song being Julia's song

my turn next , and I played Rat Rapping by Roland Rat Superstar  , I'd found it in the loft and its basically it's the only vinyl record I'd still possessed

  8. I've felt rough for about 10 days now  , no cough it just started with mucus in the throat , actually coughed up phlegm that was so rubbery I reckon I could have sold it to Michelin

Throat then went like I'd been sharing a packet of iron filings with Sidcow  on sat , then Sunday night  my throat kept feeling like it was blocked , sleep was a bloody nightmare as I'd essentially wake up with  sleep apnoea and a feeling that my throat was blocked with something

throat still blocked now not as bad as it was but still makes getting a decent sleep difficult and the mucus out my nose this morning seemed to be almost lime green in colour and very thick

Not done a covid test , but keeping away from people just in case I'm a bit contagious  , seems to be a lot of ill people around at the moment , probably in a similar scenario to me where they probably have flu but it could be something else

When I caught Covid previously , I guess it was sometime between jab 1 and jab 2  , I didn't even know I had it  , I sneezed about 3 times but a random test came back as positive  ... so if this is Covid , it could show the difference between  having up to date jabs and not having had any for numerous years .. or it could just be a different strain

  9. Computer games I guess would be one for me , lost  many many hours of sleep playing Civilisation, command and conquer , Doom , rise of the triad

now other than a game of hearts or crib on my phone late night when  I’m bored I just can’t get into them .

Sport in general is another shout , 20 years ago I could probably have told you ever scorer of every goal that week , who beat who in the snooker and who won the 1500m in the athletics that weekend , now we are so over saturated with sport it’s almost to the point you erase it from your mind

How come Britain never really embraced Peter Frampton? What’s the matter with you people? I don’t get it.  😉😁🧐

They show  Frampton comes alive  on sky arts from time to time … I watched it and felt I’d missed out on not seeing him live in concert

As it was a dirge decade for music , he’s probably  about the only 70’s act I’d say that about.

Yeah, thats another thing I don't get - why do people feel the need to deface/ruin them? People are odd.

can you ruin / deface  something that has already ruined / defaced a perfectly good wall ?

I feel like a lot of world cuisines are way overrated -- and many, way underrated. Mexican and Central American food in general, and I might add Colombian cuisine, for example, are all terribly overrated in my opinion. They're a lot less balanced and creative than so many other cuisines I know, and there's just a lot less refinement in how things are done.

East African food, in my opinion, is way underrated. It's far more complex and subtle than I think it sometimes gets credit for, and it's a lot harder to do correctly. A dish such as beyanetu is incredibly challenging because everything is subtly spiced and herbed in separate little operations, and it's just -- hard. And it tastes amazing.

I'm wondering how many days I'd have to go without food before I'd consider eating that  and as starvation finally kicks in  ,  I reckon I'd eat the plate before the contents on it

I'm sure its amazing  , but not for me ... i like my meals to be meat coloured

  14. Why is the argument Toney or Watkins , I mean why not take both and leave Rashford at home instead , out of form all season and offers nothing

this way Safegate has a backup Kane in Watkins and Toney to bring on instead of Rashford in the event of  a penalty shootout

Toney just looks livelier than Watkins sadly. He actually presses and closes down the defenders unlike Watkins.

I think most interviews I’ve heard Watkins says that Unai told him to stop doing this and it’s why his game has improved so much

if Southgate leaves him behind he’s a clown , but that said any striker we take is only really there to carry the oranges and water bottles  for Kane

Way back in the 60s I remember reading a science fiction short story predicting (somewhat satirically) the future of such computerised processes. Basically a bloke got a message about a supposedly unreturned library book. He refused to pay the fine, and there followed an unstoppable chain of escalation (trying to explain the error, trying ignoring the messages, etc.) that ultimately led to him being sent to jail (possibly executed, I forget now).

Computers Don't Argue by Gordon R Dickson ?

"Computers Don't Argue" is a 1965 science fiction short story by American writer Gordon R. Dickson, about the dangers of relying too strongly upon computers.
