If only there was some sort of official www.gov.uk type website that he could refer to that said something clear and unambiguous like

Then there wouldn’t be this grey area between the law and what he’s wished for in an angry dream.

which was why I qualified my post with England and not Wales  .. if he crosses the border into the 21st century , then he would be correct

When I did my speed awareness course it was very evident who had done a theory test and who hadn't

The guy mentions street lights and speeds and some people in there absolutely lost their minds

I got a gold star on mine for knowing this  :)  ( i seemed to be the only one, but tbh most people just keep their heads down and don't engage , so they could have just been silent Tory types)

I had it removed a bit later for arguing that speed limits of 30 are too low and should be raised to 40 , it's only cyclists or people too stupid to look before they cross the road that would suffer , so who cares

Just the weird shit people are eager to believe because it suits their world view.

We were having a conversation in the office on cars, speeding, and the 20mph speed limit. One guy, a senior individual with excellent technical knowledge and experience and qualifications, informs us that the 20mph in Wales isn’t legal if the sign has been vandalised. I point out that isn’t true, the law is 20mph by default, higher if you see a sign saying its higher.

I’ve pointed out the government websites for Wales and UK state its 20mph by default, not just if you see an un vandalised sign. To which his response is ‘no, that’s not right’.

So he’s right, and the government and the police are wrong and that’s the end of the matter. As far as he’s concerned, if a sign has been vandalised he can then assess and decide what speed he feels is reasonable.

I reckon another 10 minutes and he’ll be telling me that under Magna Carta he’s a free man and not subject to vat.

I don't know about Wales law , but In English law he is kinda correct I believe

20 mph zones have to have zone entry and zone exit signs , I guess if the first sign was vandalised he would be able to argue that he did not know he had entered such a zone , but there also have to be signs placed every 100m , so someone would have to have vandalised every single sign or he is caught speeding before he passes the second sign  , i think there also has to be traffic calming zones as well , so someone would presumably have had to have dug those up as part of their epic vandalism spree

but , that zone would automatically be a 30 mph  zone , so his speeding would be limited to 30 mph , any talk of 70 mph seems to be some trouble maker making a frivolous argument :P

  4. Was flicking between the 2 games but for a student of Pep the Spanish Sherwood  clearly left his master a tad too early

city just patiently stroke the ball around and around until their is an opening , Arsenal just seemed to have no idea

They could have signed those players anyway without CL,

well I can't answer that , but say hypothetically  that Villa were interested in Barnes , he then has a choice of Newcastle in CL or Villa in conference league ... it could be a factor

the original post  seemed to be suggesting that they only signed one player , I was just pointing out they made other transfers , you'd have to assume the CL money was a factor in that spending  , same as it will / would be for us ?

Who did Newcastle sign as a result of qualifying last year? Tonali... Anyone else?

    Tonali was about £60m wasn't he ?

    Harvey Barnes was £44m

    Livremento was £32m + £8m

and they now have to pay Chelsea something like £28m for Lewis Hall

Gordon was £40m in the Jan window and could well have been bought with CL money in mind ?

I had some wireless headphones bought about 5 years ago, lasted me until now. Brilliant.

Bought some new ones, same brand. They're great but unlike the old ones , they don't shut themselves off after inactivity. You have to remember to click them off after you've used, which after 5 years with the previous pair and just taking them off my head has proven impossible.

5 years of technology advancement and they're worse than the old ones.

    They're constantly dead.

my Jay buds died the other week  and the new version is £249  .. I only wear them in the gym so don't really need to chuck that level of money at them

but likewise I used to finish my work out and forget to turn the poxy things off

got some JBL ones instead ... rather cunningly the headphones power up when you move the over ear thingy's into place to wear them , and then when you take them off it clicks back into place and turns them off

and as I'm not Shania Twain , I am pretty impressed by this

  9. nose is still all bunged up for about 3 weeks now , with the amount of snot coming out every time I blow my nose  I reckon I've lost a stone in weight and smashed Toxteth O'Grady's world record at the same time  still a fair bit of phlegm in the throat , but  physically I feel ok

    all a bit weird though

I feel like next year will be tougher, with Chelsea getting back on form, Liverpool likely challenging for the lower CL/Europa places post Klopp, and possible Newcastle resurgence if they can spend this summer. Plus teams like Luton and Sheff will be replaced by, in all likelihood, stronger teams.
This season has been incredible, loved it!!

I think it was only 3 or 4 weeks ago Chelsea fans wanted Poch gone  .. they've just had a lucky run of penalties and playing crap teams like United , so I still think they have one more season of being a basket case club

Liverpool hopefully go down the Moyes type route United took

Arsenal will get to mid season and finally realise Arteta is the Spanish Sherwood

that leaves us v Citeh for the title .. and they will have a 20 points deduction so we might be able to nick it by a point :D

Hit a bit of a snag here though :(

To bank with Chase, you'll need to:

    • be 18+
    • be a resident of the UK only
    • have a smartphone and a UK mobile number
    • be a tax resident of the UK

I guess I could ask my mum to open it

That would need your mum to have the app and fully operate the account I believe , if she is a UK tax payer than she would have to pay the tax on the interest earnt etc subject to her situation

Long as you still have a UK bank account you could try premium bonds or ISA's with  NS&I   , fairly sure you can buy the bonds in a child's name .. it would be under your control until they turn 17

you wont earn interest on premium bonds , but obviously you have a chance of winning  £1m ( I'm getting around a 5% return on my premium bonds , but you have a chance of also getting 0% )

but they offer a Direct Saver account and green saving bonds as well , couold be worth checking out

To save with us, you’ll need a UK bank or building society account in your name. This is because we can only make payments to, and receive payments from, a UK account in pounds sterling.

Chelsea look scary guys. They could catch us

I was looking at  that the other week  after they came back to beat Man U and how we also need them to beat Spurs for us  … then they went and dropped 2 points to Sheff U so I discounted  them

but 68 is the max they can get so we just need 5 points to rule them out

Why did you wait 30 years? We only beat them in December, hell even at the Library we beat them as recently as 2020. In fact since the first lockdown we've beaten them 5 times in 9 matches

victories over them are a kinda given , but we haven't potentially stopped them winning the title before  ( least I don't think so)

  14. I used to travel to games in the 80's and 90's with the London Lions  , we'd meet at Euston and get cheap rail tickets to the games

I bump into a few faces at matches from time to time but no idea if the club is still going or any of them are around  , I think sadly a few of the members have passed away  and one of them bizarrely has started support Crystal Palace instead ,

but they were great days , used to meet the London Wolves club on the train and have a good old time with them

Work is going to suck tomorrow...

after about  a 30 year wait  i finally got to Lord it up over my  brother again who is an Arsenal fan and the reason I support Villa ( we beat them at Highbury  in the first live game i ever watched )

The culture of playing out from the back that he has instilled continues to amaze me.

We have never ever played like that as consistently as we do now.

We've had spells, but as soon as we're under the cosh it goes out the window.

Yesterday we just point blank refused to stray away from that tactic of playing out from the back. Under huge pressure at times, we stuck to it rigidly and it paid off massively.
Players like Pau, Tielemans and Martinez are key to that.

there was a tight game at VP earlier this season , where we had something like 6 mins of Fergie time to see out and I don't think we let the other team touch the ball during the whole period.

I was impressed in the 96th min yesterday where Bailey broke free and probably could have played in Watkins , but why take the risk of turning the ball over and give them a sniff  , he just sorta slow walked the ball into the corner and ate up another 40 seconds or so , the players are well drilled  and constantly learning.

He continues to get better and better with the ball at his feet by the way. He's absolutely key to the way we play at the back and it's priceless.

It's a big reason why it's such a step down when we have to play Olsen. No disrespect to Olsen, he was good the last time he played. But he's simply not capable of passing the ball like Emi

I've never seen a keeper so confident with the ball at his feet .. he gives me a **** heart attack every time when he almost goads the attacker closing him down to but he seems to be in total control

to your other posts .. i think his first season he was immense and then there was a little dip , quite a few games where he costs us points when he let in a  few soft ones   , this season he seems to have gone back to the season one high ,possibly even surpassed it , i guess the swagger of winning a world cup does wonders to your confidence :D
