Last night I was letting the dogs out last thing before locking up etc and going to bed, when I heard a right old commotion. One of the dogs had been outside, caught a massive f***ing rat, brought it back into the house, gave it a good shaking, and left it twitching on the floor, then sat there looking proudly at her handiwork. So I had to find something with which to clear up a twitching rat, not knowing if it was going to revive itself in a minute or two and look for somebody to take it out its angst on. I've had more pleasant minutes just before bed.
I found a rat that some mad scientist must have cross bred with an elephant in our garage one evening ..well tbf the neighbours cat found it , then took a good look at the size of the rat and scarpered .
I then found a nest where it had been living for a while so I figured I'm gonna have to "take care" of it now I know its here
we had a chase that looked like something out of a Tom and Jerry cartoon around the garage before it managed to "hide" in a small recess that I couldn't get to , so I used a garden fork and basically pushed as hard as i could
The screams / noises that rat made will probably haunt me for the rest of my life
next time we have a rat I'm just going to pretend I didn't see it

There is a one off chance to stay the night inside St Pauls cathedral on Friday , with access to the library , booking opened at 10:00 and is NOT a competition.
at 10:00 the link went live , followed by a text button to write and sat why you should be selected for the stay ... followed by message after you submit saying demand is high and you will be contacted if selected
On the basis that it wasn't assigned to the first person in , to me that sounds exactly like a competition .. excluding the fact that the lucky "winner" will have already been pre-selected months ago and us mere mortals never stood a chance

On Thursday you saw Doug moaning at full time that players were not making the right runs
Yesterday we saw Bailey also making similar gestures
I think , the players have got a bit lost and maybe frustrated at being asked to play more defensively , partly due to the injury situation first with Torres and now with Kamara and lack of depth in the squad / team shape
There is also an element of rest of the league saw what we did to West Ham and Brighton and thought **** that , lets put 11 men behind the ball , resulting in a more pedestrian style of play from us which seems to hinder us at times.
the performance of the season came when we went at City ... yesterday , Thursday and 2-0 v Luton , we went all negative and made mistakes and kept inviting pressure ..

Picked a bad week for our two worse performances of the season but giving Watkins a week off will probably have done him some good
could see after the first 10 mis there was only going to be one winner today , they were up for it and better than us in every department … sadly means there will be a 20 min wank fest over Spurs on match of the day tonight and they really aren’t that good
let’s just hope United don’t put a run together as lower than 5th will be a very bitter pill to swallow

That was my first thought sadly

After @bickster comments and with low expectations ,Echo and the Bunnymen last night.
well it was definitely interesting , McCulloch was clearly wasted and an attempts to interact with the audience resulted in not understanding more than about 1 word in 4 , but when he sang it was fine , no problem with the lyrics and he sounded ok , the band did everything justice music wise
a 20 min interval after a 40 min set and set 2 was about 40 mins with the cutter and killing moon crowd favourites .. the encore included an epic rant mid song about Ray Winston being a clearing in the woods which lead into a further rant about paedophillia being the worse thing on the planet , all slightly bemusing
on the whole it wasn’t terrible , but certainly not the best gig I’ve ever been to , but I don’t think anyone left unhappy

Went to the cinema on Sat with the boy to see Dune 2 , booked the Imax in Leicester Square online
was there pretty early so mooched around , bought some popcorn and a drink , went to take our seats
Turns out I'd booked Cineworld ( which is the Imax) , however we were in the Odeon cinema
Wandered across the square to the correct cinema with our Odeon refreshments , to be greeted by the usher with " Did you go to the wrong cinema by chance"
because sometimes being humiliated once just isn't enough

his expression when subbed last night said it all , he knew it was coming ..and rightly so
first 5 or 6 games , he was the main bright spark in the team , I don't know what happened after that , maybe he hasn't settled in the UK , maybe Bailey upped his game and Daiby suffered as a result
guess next season is a big test
-
Wouldn’t get in a non league team on that performance … but great experience for him and hope it helps with his learning curve

My god that was hideous
if we don’t beat Spurs on Sunday after the players all took the evening off then we have no excuses
tie isn’t over even if we are now at home second leg , Chelsea , Manure and Newcastle have shown the way to beat us at VP lately

was a good day for documentaries last night , Why Planes Vanish , (mainly about MH370) was also interesting
long story short is some armchair detective seems to have found a way to pickup whispers in Short wave radio bursts caused by planes passing through them and using that data , has located the wreckage as being slightly outside the zone that search and rescue ships were looking in .. and more importantly he claims to have it down to something like a 30 mile search radius
If , they can validate his research , then they may well go take another look

The Titan sub thing yesterday was interesting , but boy are they dragging it with 2 episodes .. problem watching it with hindsight is we know they were dead in minutes after the event , so dragging it out speculating on what they did for 50 hours trapped in a submersible that was bolted shut , is a little pointless and also very claustrophobic

(annoying that it's on a weekly dripfeed, mind)
I always forget what's happened previously if I do it that way ... I have to wait for the whole series then binge it over 2 to 3 days
its a nightmare when they get to something like season 5 as I have to re-watch 1 -4 first !!
its strange really as my memory itself is really really good , my mates always say if I get Alzheimer's they are all **** as I'm the one that remembers everywhere we've been and things we've done

Posted in the 'Health and Sickness' thread but probably better suited in here.
Does anyone have any experience of taking Sertraline? I recently had quite a 'big' life event that has potentially changed my life, and I started developing OCD symptoms a couple of weeks after, to the point where it was affecting my work. Doc put me on Sertraline and I've been on it since Jan, and at first it seemed to work quite well. The dosage has been upped since, and now I feel worse, more anxiety based OCD about a number of things. I'm guessing 'life' has caused the anxiety, but I don't understand why it's hit me like a train when I'm on double the dosage now?
TIA.
goes without saying I'm not a Doctor , but it could be worth asking yours about Propranolol instead of Sertraline ?
Propranolol is a beta blocker but kinda similar to Sertraline , but maybe with no side effects like you are experiencing (in some case people get prescribed both)

My wife has just bought a galaxy smart watch LTE version. She wants to be able to have calls to her mobile and her watch and choose wear to answer them. Is there a plan or sim that allows this that isn't financially restrictive. She is currently on a smarty tenner a month plan.
I'm on O2 with an apple watch .. to have the watch 4G /5G enabled for data is a premium , but if its paired to your phone it just uses the phone data ..long as you have your phone with you of course ..I'd assume Galaxy watches work in the same way ?
When I'm in the gym , I leave my phone in the locker downstairs , calls were still come through so now I have to remember to switch Bluetooth off on my phone so I don't receive them ... the range on the pairing is actually quite impressive

I cracked, and bought Disney Plus on the '£1.99 a month for three months' offer, purely to watch Shogun. Episode One was pretty good, I thought.
Having said that, the app buffers worse than anything else I've seen. Anybody else have that problem?
I watch it through my sky box and if I skip intros on some shows it buffers terribly
it’s random though so might be down to what the kids are streaming on their phones etc at that time

Even then, what I got was a prescription for 28 tablets for something I’ve been told I’ll be on for life. So I guess I go through all that again in a couple of weeks.
I did a repeat prescription last night via the NHS App , has your nominated chemist on it where you go and pick it up from and just a couple of clicks ... I'd guess that's available to everyone ?
presumably 28 days is so you don't get 6 months worth in one go and flog them on E-Bay

my GP was brilliant
just to follow on from this , I had a call just now from the Radiology department at my local hospital as she had requested an ultrasound to check for gallstones as it was something else she felt could be at play
I think its only my toe nails now that she hasn't requested a check on

I've been having discomfort in my stomach for like 3 weeks now. No nausea, diarrhea, sickness, weight loss etc so hoping it's just mild Gastritis or something else. First 'long' term health thing I've ever had really so a bit worrying.
Got bloods on Thursday.
Pending my endoscopy the gastroenterologist I saw suggested Alflorex in the first instance ..
I'll be honest I was surprised he suggested something like that , i thought the whole probiotic and good bacteria stuff was just marketing companies at work .. it does seem to have helped a little , though it can take 12 weeks or so to fully balance with your body
its not expensive so could be worth checking it out , they do more than one so look for the dual action version

My doctor is dreadful. He has prescribed shrugs and isn't willing to try anything. After badgering I had a CT scan yesterday but am months away from a neurologist.
yeah I was thinking about your experience as in some ways its similar to mine ( all be it different symptoms) .. it took me my third doctor before I got someone to take it seriously ( second one asked me if I was after a sick note for time off work ) ..
Don't know how many doctors there are at your local surgery , but maybe work your way through all of them until you get one that comes up with a thorough plan to investigate your symptoms

I ended up back in hospital again about a fortnight ago , similar episode to the previous time , heart all over the place , fainting , shortness of breath , diarrhoea , vomiting , limbs aching , feel so tired I can barely stand up but equally sleep seems impossible
Spent another 14 hours in A&E , they couldn’t find anything wrong , with my heart , blood , urine etc , eventually after being on a drip everything calmed down and I went home again
they’ve put it down to severe Gastroenteritis both times , but I’m not sure if that is the hospital equivalent of no fault found tbh.
Today I had another “episode” .. haven’t bothered with A&E as I really don’t want to burden what is already an over crowded area , felt like shit again , heart rate spiked up to 140 hands were shaking , felt exhausted , puked 4 times , after a few hours it’s settled down and I feel fine again
but , I really really need to get to the bottom of this … Doctors are suggesting I wear a heart trace for 72 hours , personally I don’t think it’s my heart but I’m happy to rule everything out , if they ever actually get it setup
but I’m wondering if some form of wellness check can get to the bottom of what it might be , anyone ever had one done privately and an in-depth one ?
so a month on and some progress , my GP was brilliant , she listened to me , couldn't rule out the heart or the stomach so got me down for extensive tests on both
couple of weeks back I had an Ultrsound & MRI on my heart and then wore a heart monitor for 7 days ...got the call today from all the tests
all clear , actual words were your heart is very strong and in top condition , no furring in the arteries or anything , told me keep up the exercise and stay healthy ..
I also had an endoscopy last week and they found a hiatus hernia during this , which interestingly in some instances can manifest in a way that appears like a heart attack , should be curable via medication , just waiting on results from the stomach biopsies they took though to be sure
Was nauseas , sick and all over the place yesterday , so not fully out the woods , but it would suggest that a cure isn't far away for me now and I can hopefully get back to a normal lifestyle ...
come a long way from the first doctor who told me to park my ego and accept I was getting old and thus I shouldn't expect to be able to run at a high intensity without feeling out of breath and nauseas

Never in doubt
for a while that looked like the United game the other week where we should have won comfortably and lost , but this time we got out of jail when we stopped giving the ball away and ventured forward again
Spurs is the big one , they play a bit rather than kick bite and hoof , so that should suit us more than today
