  1. Beat me to it Richard as i have posted this in the transfer thread. Actually suggested this might be a possibility earlier in the thread and am surprised it has just come to light now in the tabloids. I can actually see the sense in this as the way plop play would be ideally suited to Bent and since we like to hoof it then Carroll would be the target man best suited to the way we play at the moment. At least someone in the media is reading my posts on here.
  2. Bore draw from two very poor teams. At least Everton had the excuse of injuries while the standard of football we are producing at the moment wouldn't look out of place on a Sunday afternoon in a council park.
  3. Can't really see us losing this one so either a score draw or 2-1 to us.
  4. best signing of the window as means he wont be coming to Villa Just think what would have happened on here if we'd signed both Keane and Gibson
  5. Bitterly, bitterly disappointed by this. If Randy had any sense whatsoever he would have employed Martin Jol instead of AM. He didn't. If Randy had any sense whatsoever he would have sacked AM and employed Hughes. He didn't. A totally inept chairman who makes 'deadly' look like a genuis!
  6. I would hope that if there is any truth to the above rumours then our chairman would hold out for 25m rather than the stated 20m. We could have asked for 20m plus Faurlin but apparently he out for the rest of the season injured. 25m it is then.
  7. You could argue a case for it. Certainly not as negative. Warnock or McLeish? Interesting. I wonder how the majority here would view McLeish sacked with Warnock as his replacement?
  8. Everton struggling to score at the moment so that might be our saviour, although our three calamities in defence could present them with a present or two? If we play offensively with Ireland and N'Zogbia in the team then we might just get the three points.
  9. Actually quite shocked at this even though he did say himself that he might be close to the sack. Thought he was just jesting. They'll probably get Hughes in now and give him a large sum to spend in the January transfer market. Last chance gone of getting sparky to try and sort the mess at our club.
  10. Over estimated the opposition so thats why i thought we'd lose. We won the game but our weaknesses are there for all to see and if we come up against better lower league opposition in the next round then we're ripe for an upset. Don't think many teams, even in the Championship, will fear us.
  11. Again totally agree. I suspect hughes would target Samba. He'd also be very interested in Hoillet and would quickly identify the lack of quality in the centre of our midfield and actually do something about it. But who would he target to replace Bent?
  12. I agree 'dodgyknees.' Should we receive such an offer then Bent will be gone. If the manager is not then given those funds to reinvest in the squad then i suspect there would be a revolt from Villa fans of the magnitude not seen before. However, if we did sell Bent and Collins then i would hope the funds from those sales would be given to a new manager such as Hughes.
  13. Stated this way back in the tread but speaking for myself, my expectations have now changed and are more in line with Birmingham fans. I just want us to stay in the Premiership this season and that for me with a bunch of clowns running our club, will be success!
  14. Watch us lose this one. One for the players to get the manager sacked!
  15. Before AM was appointed i wanted Martin Jol as our manager. He was available with no compensation needed. He is now starting to get the best out of Fulham and i can only hope that our board now do the right thing by sacking AM and appointing Hughes. But i sincerely doubt it.
  16. Thats the problem with our defence. 'Old and slow!' Thats the problem with Petrov. 'Old and slow!' Thats two thirds of the spine of our team so the results are not that surprising really are they when you also throw in one of the worst managers we have ever had and that is saying something.
  17. Looks like a team thats set up to have a go at Chelsea. No-one expects us to get anything so we might just see more attacking football from us?
  18. Wouldn't want Carrol anywhere near this club for three reasons: 1. It would not be a view to a perm deal as they will not be getting rid of him just one year after buying him for 35M. The loss would not be acceptable for them at this stage. So I would not want him getting game time with us to possibly improve and go back there a better player. If he didn't improve why would we want him anyway 2. After the part he played in Downing going to plop I honestly hope he rots as a footballer now 3. He is shite Have to disagree 'Richard.' He is certainly not 'shite.' He just doesn't fit into the way Liverpool play at the moment. Did you note how much his performance improved when Gerrard came on last night and supplied him with the right service against Newcastle even though he missed those chances? Once he restores his confidence in a team that plays to his strengths then he will start scoring again on a regular basis. I happen to think that a Carroll Gabby partnership would complement each other very well. I would love to see him play for us if Bent went the other way as he would get the correct service from N'Zogbia and Albrighton and indeed Hoilett if we purchased him.
  19. I have a sneaking suspician that if we are to sell Bent then at the present time he might very well go to Liverpool. Liverpool are creating loads of chances but don't have the poacher to finish them off. Liverpool play the type of game to suit Bent and have a striker on their books at the moment who doesn't, or cannot fit into their way of playing. I just wonder if Kenny came in for Bent could we then agree to sell on the basis that Carrol comes to us for the rest of the season with a view to buy? Caroll would be the target man we are badly missing if AM wants to play hoofball?
  20. Maybe we have gained more convidence with our performance against Arsenal and for that reason we just might sneak a draw, but it will depend on AM's team selection. If he goes on the defence again then we'll lose. Pick a team AM to reflect our strengths rather than that of Stoke's!
  21. Actually stated further back in the thread my disappointment at Gardner being loaned out in the first place, so it's fantastic to have him back again and available for the game against Stoke. AM simply has to play him now firstly in a midfield two with Petrov and then Petrov's replacement whenever that may come. Going to be a super player for us. Only worry is that by the end of the season wouldn't be surprised at all if the top six vultures start circling around him.
  22. If we had played as well as that against Man U then we would have taken something from that game. We were a tad unlucky last night not to take at least a point and when you play your best eleven available AM then you always stand a better chance of winning a game. However it was still a defeat and if we get nothing against Stoke then we're in big trouble.
  23. Results normally govern whether a manager stays at a club. Not what the fans think. If performances on the field continue on a downward spirall akin to our position in the Premiership then things should take care of themselves. I don't want us to be relegated and neither would our chairman so rather than speak of silly protests, it is best just to wait and see where we are after the next three games and then hopefully the right action will be taken to benefit the club?
  24. Rob Beasley from 'The Sun' stated 'Liverpool did have some good luck on the day though. They came up against an awful Aston Villa side who were utterly bereft of any ideas or inspiration.' Enough said!
