  1. Good post. Winning the Dutch title with FC Twente is much more impressive than Houllier winning the French league with Lyon, or Villa Boas winning the Portuguese league with Porto (though the manner in which he has is impressive) or Van Gall winning the league with Ajax, or Ancelotti/Capello winning the Italian league with Milan. If you are at the biggest club/best team in the country, then it's to be expected that you win the league so it's not really that impressive in the grand scheme of things...
  2. He is a joke I personally like listening to Stan on talkSPORT. Plus he is a Villa fan and he speaks in a broad Brummie accent I think you'll find thats a Cannock accent!! Us Cannockians do not appreciate being called Brummies!! Lol - I know he's from Staffordshire but he sounds like Brummie to me! Can't tell the difference :notsure:

  4. Stan Collymore talking about British managers vs foreign managers on talkSPORT atm
  5. Voted for Hughes. Would like Moyes but find him a bit boring for some reason...
  6. Fabian Delph - the black Gerrard
  7. Tbf, you only really need one foot. Giggs is one footed. And Messi doesn't really use his right foot compared to say Ronaldo.
  8. How do you lot get through seasons so quickly?
  9. Could this be our first and only sell out of the season?
  10. Fulham - 48 points GD +6 Bolton - 46 points GD -2 Surely Hughes > Coyle Think Coyle is a bit overrated tbh...
  11. He's a bit like Giggsy really - prefers to use the outside of his left foot than use his right foot. This is why I prefer him on the left.
  12. :winkold: I'm a bit surprised that everyone wants Blues to get relegated. Surely you like having derbies against them?
  13. Seems Quique Sancehz Florez is good in the cup competitions but not so impressive in the league...
  14. I think he's better than Green but worse than Hart. He should be happy to be no.2 for England.
  15. We need to remember that Downing signed a contact with AVFC. We hold all the power in the situation - the ball is in our court. If we receive offers, we can choose to reject them. Simple as. Unless we receive an offer that is too good to refuse of course (Carroll for £35m? Downing for £40m?) If not, reject the bid. Easy as that. Downing will only be leaving the club if AVFC wishes that to be the case. All this "Downing will be off to Liverpool". Er, we'll decide if Downing is going anywhere thanks very much.
  16. I'd be happy with that. Why? Because he is the best left-back at the club in my opinion and I believe that we are cutting off our nose to spite our face by letting him rot in the reserves.
  17. They're shite! Go look up the managerial careers of Rijkaard and Ranieri and tell me they're good managers.
  18. Because they are both shite not because of their nationality. Go look up their managerial careers on Wikipedia and then tell me they're shite.
  19. Not sure. Would take all of them over Houllier though.
  20. I didn't know that Villa played in the Bundesliga... I'd like to see a British manager - Hughes, Moyes, McClaren, Lambert, Curbishley or Allardyce. Interesting take on my suggestion.... I see no reason for a British Manager. If you don't like Germans, what about Deschamps...or even Rjikaard? He wants a British manager and no foreigners. He also wants an English manager and coaching staff for the England national team because he feels if we won anything under Capello, it would be a victory for the Italians, not us, despite it being 11 Englishmen on the pitch. A manager no doubt contributes significantly to a team's success or failure. So it would be an English victory masterminded by an Italian. I'd rather an English victory masterminded by an Englishman. I would rather take the victory (of Aston Villa) whoever is the manager. You hire the best person for the job of manager IMO. Anyway we are hardly knee deep in top quality English (not British) managers to chose from so why limit our choices? I think most are just unfashionable rather than bad. Foreign managers are all the rage atm, especially with the bigger clubs. You only have to look at Allardyce and Curbishley - both good English managers yet nobody wants them anywhere near Villa.
