I'd go as far as saying the manner in which he left the club and his general attitude might seriously affect the thoughts of any chairmen considering him for their clubs. Totally unprofessional, also the manner in which he took most of the 1st team coaching staff with him, showed a complete lack of respect for the club and it's fans. He wanted to inflict the most pain he could. He comes over as a very arrogant, self centred man. He will never manage a club on the scale of Villa again. Everton if we get Moyes? Spurs if/when Harry gets the England job?

Absolutely not! Since when did GH become the chairman? Since when did GH become a club legend? I just want him out of our club so he can go and get a season ticket at his beloved Livipoooooool.

People need to remember this when thinking about Allardyce. He's always maintained that he has played direct football because of the resources he's had at his disposal. He might play more attractive football if given the chance to work with the quality players at Villa.

I certainly don't. I don't think it matters what nationality the next Villa manager is. All I care about is how good a job he does. Why should the next Villa manager be British? I don't think that foreign managers should be banned or anything but I do think that British managers should be given preference over foreign managers since this is England afterall... Also, the more British managers employed in the Premier League, the better it will be for the England job in the future in regards to appointing an English manager and not having to look abroad... Surely Villa comes before the national team? Yes, but foreign =/= better manager I'm sure British managers could do just as good a job as foreign managers - and if that's the case then I'd rather we had a British manager.

If we sign a really attacking right back, he's better on the right, as well as it being better for the team. I'd say Downing has played better in the last month or two than at any point in his Villa career and he's been on the right wing. Think back to that great counter-attacking goal vs Man U when Downing crossed from the left to Super Marc on the right who put it away. We had a real lack of width on the left flank against Stoke with the two right-footed Youngs playing there. If only we'd swapped Downing and Young then this problem could have been easily solved. For me, Downing is not comfortable on his weaker side and looks to come inside at every opportunity making him predictable and making us play too narrow. Downing on the left, Young or Albrighton on the right - that's the way we should be setting up imo.

At least if Young leaves, then Downing will get to play in his rightful position on the left wing (hopefully)

1&4 - Not my choices personally but if they were appointed, I wouldn't be overly fussed. 2 - No, I'd want just about anyone else but him. Why the **** would we go for Allardyce? terrible. 3. Why? of course not. He did very well indeed at Bolton (promotion, UEFA Cup) and he did well at Blackburn too. Has recently said he's finding it hard to find work because of the stigma surrounding him and the type of football he "plays" which he feels has been unfairly attached to him by other managers. Has always said he's played the type of football he has because of the resources at his disposal - could play a more "pleasing" style of football with the quality of players he'd have at Villa... Did very well at Charlton taking them up, then establishing them in the Prem - look where they are now. Also has Villa connections. Hasn't been given the opportunity to manage at one of the bigger clubs.

Hard to "earn" your place when your frozen out of the team and not let back in... They can prove it in the training ground Houllier doesn't even watch them cause they train with the reserves. Let's be honest- all signs show that once Houllier banishes you, there's no way back.

Ireland, Warnock, Carew, Beye & Davies would beg to differ... All of which have been important 1st team players! Not! Carew doesn't even play for Stoke. That's not the point. Houllier claims they aren't "in form" or are playing "badly" etc when in reality he freezes them out of the team - don't even make bench, train with reserves etc - until they leave. I mean I remember when Nathan Baker was making the bench ahead of Curtis Davies and Jonathan Hogg was making the bench ahead of Stephen Ireland. Don't tell me how they weren't good enough, because they were clearly good enough to make the bench ahead of untried, untested youngsters. You seem to justify Houllier's shoddy treatment of them by saying they aren't important first team players - so what? I never said they were. All I'm saying is that Houllier treats players very badly and you can't deny this or justify this. So what if they aren't important players. Doesn't give you the right the treat them poorly. And just because Ash is one of our best players, doesn't mean you should pander to his every need, wiping his arse and all - constantly praising him, playing him in his favourite position to the detriment of the rest of the team, making him captain when he is not captain material etc etc. /Rant over :x

To be fair, he wasn't even making the bench even when we were playing the likes of Bannan and Hogg. I think he was put out in the cold by Houllier. Admittedly, he didn't play very well in the few appearances he did make but it's the same with Warnock - his omission was not purely down to form, Houllier just doesn't like them.

I hate seeing Downing playing on the right. He's a left-footed winger - so play him on the left! Likewise with Young though I feel Young is better at playing on the "wrong" flank than Downing. But anyway, I'd like to see Downing on the left and Young on the right for the whole 90 minutes (no wing swapping.)
