Couldnt see another thread. Looks like he's off to Leicester then. Another one of MON's flops. But for about 5 games at the start of this season, nothing but a frustrating and ineffective let-down. Would that adequately sum up his time here? The winner vs Wolves the only highlight for me, superb header.

There is no chance that Bent would leave. Forget 25-30m. It would take easily 35m+. We have already paid the lions share of the addons to its essentially 24m now. He's the hottest striker in the league and almost any club side in Europe would make use of him. As I said earlier, if we dont have a decent manager and a decent season, and he pumps 25 goals then he will be gone to a huge club next summer. However, god knows what he makes of two of our best players wanting to leave, a week into the summer...

Oh come on, we've tapped up as many players and managers as anyone else. You cant stop it, there's always a way. We just have to face it that players come here and use us as a stepping stone. Most dont arrive here thinking this. Ash for example was probably made up that we went for him. But sooner or later for any player who is talented and has his best years ahead, is going to want to play for one of the big four or now Man City. That's the way its been for us and for 15 years. Unless we consistently get Cl football, this will NEVER change. And there is no sign of that happening so we just have to get on with it. As for people being angry that players dont want to work for CL at their present club. Do me a favour. Twice the wage, world class players all around them and massive crowds instantly, or chase a carrot that doesnt get any closer. There is no choice here.

Exactly this. People saying "he doesnt deserve to wear the shirt". Do you really think he gives a toss what we think or feel? Wearing the Villa shirt doesnt mean a damn thing to anyone other than lads who were born in this area and play for the team like Gabby etc. Do people think Downing is sitting at home now reading this forum with a tear in his eye at our thoughts? He's sitting at home all right, but sipping £1000 bottles of Champagne listening to his agent waxing lyrical about what wages he could be getting.

It gets better and better doesnt it? This is getting eerily familiar now. We buy a player for big money. Put up with the first average season, enjoy the excellent second season only for the player to be "unsettled" and engineer a move before the polish is dry on the Premier League trophy. We're a glorified feeder club guys I'm afraid to say. It's no disgrace, no are Spurs, and so will Liverpool if they miss out on CL football for a couple more years. If Bent has a season next year like the back end of the last then we'll be having this same convo about him for 35m+ next summer.

I dont think he will go but if Ash and Downing leave this summer then I will be as disillusioned as I can ever remember with football and Villa. Even more so than after Milner left.

Not great today. One or two nice touches and passes but his overall contribution was below what is expected. There is a good player in there somewhere. A good run of games and I think we will see it.
