Korean football - The K-league

So while im living in Korea im going to be writing for bornoffside.net about the K-league every week, but Ive decided to also keep a blog about my local team Deajeon Citizen

www.aseasonasacitizen.blogspot.com

It started as just a blog about my adventures but now I know the team and league better its getting more tactical.

As a bit of a background Daejeon Citizen are awful, probably the worst team the league. The league as a whole is about league one standard but DCFC are quite apart from that and this year is the first year the league has relegation.

We play in a 45,000 seater world cup relic stadium with an average attendance of about 4,000. Lsast seen saw half of the first team squad sacked and banned for an involvment in a betting scandal, which after they were sacked saw the reaminign players go on a record 19 game winless streak. This season has seen 25 new players join but with 5 games, 5 losses ad 1 goal it looks bad

lLee Dong Guk was last seasons player of the year, he had a forgettable spell at middlesbrough a few years ago. Matt Mackay has just moved out here from Rangers. Most of teh foreign players tend to be nomads from South America or eatern europe to be honest.

Dalain Atkinson did have a spell out here and is something of a legend for his off the field habbits, lets say he didnt taske the league too seriously.

Id say the best players out here would be mid to lower table championship sides

McLeish would still go there looking for a 0-0.

And he'd try and tell us to be happy with it after.

Thouygh I think villa coming out here would be a great move. The Premier League is huge here, much more so than just being on TV. Kids were jersey all the time, theres pitches everywhere and every fixture gets a decent amount of coverage. Theyre just crying out for a reason to support a team besides man united barca and real

Even Koreans call it the gay league, and they are most nationalistic people I've met. Enjoyed going to games though but never got attached to a team.

Yeah the standard is far from decent but I find the whoel unpredictable nature of it quite amusing. Yes there are better and weaker teams in the league but sometimes its hard to tell. I love how Zicu, a short, slow, slightly overweight romanian has come over here and plays like Puskas

haha not quite but a lot of the teams have quite a sneaky vicious streak. Not man enough to do it properly but a fair bit off the ball, and with awful refs sometimes even right in front of them. This weekend our stirker had his jaw broken and needs an operation, everyone saw the blatant elbow besides the lino standing right there or the ref
