Normally get it by the third day after the annoucement....

hmmmm

what does it / could it mean?

It means that the Martians are about to land.

It would make sense wouldn't it to put certain motions on the AGM papers otherwise an EGM would have bene called thus wasting a lot of money.

Not quite sure what you are getting at Ianrobo, but are you suggesting they should schedule an AGM sooner, rather than call an EGM? As things stand, and Lerner wants to buy the club outright, AGM's won't be needed will they?

Basically Ali, every public company has to have an AGM, and would Ellis fancy another one, in fact what would the point be if a takeover is close. Of course you need an EGM for completion of a takeover why not just roll it into one ...

Of course we could get the AGM notice of meeting tomorrow but what a farce that one could be.

An AGM has to be held by law with a certain period after the financial results. I would guess the delay may mean significant developments expected to the tune that an AGM not taking into account this developments would be of no use to anyone!

exaclty imagine an AGM with Ellis in control of it but a takeover happening, it would be a farce.

A bit of AV06 related news

In the ongoing takeover saga at Villa, it is understood the AV06 consortium fronted by Charles Padfield QC consider themselves the front-runners to seal a £65m buy-out. Though close to making a formal offer, they believe any deal could not be completed in time to give O'Neill significant funds before the transfer window closes on August 31.

AV06 last week met Jack Petchey, the businessman who, with a 20 per cent stake, is the second largest shareholder at Villa behind chairman Doug Ellis, who controls 38 per cent. Sources have indicated that the backers of AV06, believed to be Scandinavian, have combined wealth in the same bracket as Randy Lerner, the owner of the Cleveland Browns NFL team, who also remains in the hunt.

Unlike three of the five consortia stalking Villa, AV06 have not signed a confidentiality agreement, which would give them privileged access to the club's books, because they do not want to rule themselves out of possible bids for other clubs.

Local businessman Michael Neville, a group represented by Sven Goran Eriksson's agent, Athole Still, and a mystery American consortium are also interested in buying the club. Ellis remains the key figure but cannot insist on an ongoing role at the club if he were to sell.

The decision as to which proposal should be put to a shareholder vote rests with the six-man board of which Ellis is a member.
