CarryOnVilla
Signing him would suggest Mings is going to take longer to recover (if ever) or we selling Carlos

We could have him for a couple of years and sell him to Saudi if we want to be that brutal. Lenglet is going and like it or not, we don't know what Ty will be like when he returns. Agree 100%. The bold part is the crux of the matter, Ty will take a while to get back up to his best, assuming he can of course. With that in mind It would be bad planning if we went into a season with Pau and Ty as our two senior left sided centre backs. This guy has a lot of experience in the Champions League as well, which will be invaluable for us in european competition next season.

One he's on a free we can move him on the year after if we need to. 2) He's positionally versatile. He can play as LB in a style that emery likes a lot. He'd probably be the primary defensive LB and we'd have an attacking LB too (we'd move on one of Moreno or Digne). 3) We should have 50 odd games regardless next season anyway due to Cup competitions. We absolutely need a 5th CB if Konsa is going to be playing RB with any regularity and with the uncertainty about Mings' level, plus Carlos' recent injury record.

He'd still probably come as one of our highest earners which may be a bit of a risk. I suspect we'll offer something like 125-150k so the net take home is better in EUR equivalent. Also add on a signing bonus and he'll do OK. To keep our wage scale we might offer a larger signing bonus, as rumoured to have done with Coutinho

Just ask as I notice people (not @CarryOnVilla in particular) tend put the caveat "if he gets back to full form" when referring to Mings moreso than when they refer to Buendia or Kamara. In one injury I snapped 3 of the 4 ligaments in my right knee, chipped the bone and damaged the meniscus. After surgery and recovery, I'm now just as slow and sh!t as I was before so hopefully Ty will be fine
