Only Darren Bent would be attainable of those IMO, Toni perhaps but unlikely. TBH, Bent would be my choice anyway. I believe he is just tailor-made for our needs up-front and I desperately hope that MON feels the same way.

Allardyce was always my choice for manager, and he still is now. As things stand, we play passionless, boring, ineffective football. If we had big Sam I think we'd play boring but effective football, and with a bit more passion to boot. We're England, not Brazil, fancy football is not and never will be our thing - our players are technichally inferior to most of the other top countries - and yet we still have a better squad than most. What Allardyce would bring would be a 'British bulldog' type approach and would make us play in a way that meant we won football matches - which may also involve having the balls to drop a few players and to not make blatant tactical and selection cock-ups and then grin about it afterwards. That's all we can ask for, so I'd take him now. McClaren out.

People will Jez. If they are available, clubs would be interested if there is a fair price, though most of these clubs will be steps down from Aston Villa. I think we could shift all of the players that we would want to in the summer. And on a side note, havn't Celtic won the European Cup? There is no point belittling them, they are at least as 'big' a club as we are, even if they do play in a shit league. The difference is that they have nowhere to go from where they are really, whereas I think, being based in England and with an ambitious board, we do.

It's a new challenge for him in both respects. I hope he's up to it.

I wouldn't want any of them at villa except maybe defoe.... surely if we want to get into the top 6 we want players who aren't mediocre....by mediocre I mean Reo Coker and Sidwell (who everyone seems to want).... Players like Kone will take us to the next level, not Sidwell and Reo Coker... What, just because he's foreign? I don't really rate Reo-Coker that highly but Sidwell on a free would a great. no, it's because I think Kone is a very good player.... if a player is foreign and is very good, I'd want him at Villa...if a player is British and is also very good, I'd want him at Villa... why do you assume that I don't want British players just because I said I wanted a foreign player? admittedly, Sidwell on a free would be good....but not if he's over priced, which I think he will be... I just think there is a tendency to over-hype players from abroad simply because there's something exciting about the (relatively) unknown whereas people like Sidwell, who have proved themselves week-in week-out in the Premiership are thought less of because they're called Steve rather than Arouna and are entirely predictable in terms of what they will bring to the side.

Well, that's always the barometer of the consumate professional. Sadly a succession of managers and most of the supporters don't share that view. That's the crux of the issue here, the fact that Hendrie is a bit of a bellend sometimes is just a tangent.
