    TBH I think the Carew/Young deals will conclud our business for this month, perhaps an old head in somewhere for the short-term but I think these signings will see us through until the summer when I expect we'll make several more.

    Perhaps this means we haven't got young ? - so MON has 10m burning a hole in his pocket ? Perhaps it means we have got Young and MON STILL has £10m burning a hole in his pocket. Or perhaps it's just a load of tosh and the bid has nothing to do with us.

    Aliadiere is cack. The last thing we need is another foreign striker who can't cut it in the Premiership.

    That's true. My point was that they have a much much better squad of players than people realise, and depth to match, just inreased with the addition of Lauren.

    Pompey's first team is significantly better than ours. Apart from their strikers (although Kanu is playing like a legend) they have quality all over the field and I'm not at all suprised to see them as high as they are. Just think about it. James Johnson Campbell Primus Stefanovic O'Neil Davis Mendes Taylor Kanu Lua Lua If I was to 'mix in Villa's squad the team would look like this - James Johnson Laursen Campbell Barry O'Neil Petrov (though on current showing McCann) Mendes Taylor LuaLua L. Moore Thats 7 pompey and 4 Villa Point made.

    We don't announce our pay principles at all I don't think, and good bloody riddance, look what's happened to West Ham. I very much doubt we still have a salary cap, especially when you consider what Lerner pays out to the boys at the Browns. Now do me a favour, we're not just going to offer them more money for the fun of it. I suspect most of them are paid their market worth anyway.

    I think you will, it ought to taste good. Of course I don't KNOW this absolutely, I havn't spoken to anyone on the phone and my mate hasn't seen anyone in a hotel but Martin has all but promised reinforcements, and I believe him to be a man of his word, don't you? The reason that there has been little activity is extortianate asking prices, but as the window goes on I expect many of these to drop. We shall see Jez, but I'd get your cutlery ready if I was you.

    This has, so far, been the quietest transfer window yet. Will it stay that way? No. Will we be involved in it when it kicks into gear? Yes. You state the argument of patience yet you don't really counter it. There are 2 weeks left, that's almost half the friggin' window, and almost all major deals take place in the last week, the last few days even. Whilst I agree with some of what you say, my overall feeling is similar to that of OklahomaVilla TBH.

    Yah Id love to see him in our team too. Cant see him going for £5.5 mill though, thats just the fee someone would need to pay to activate the clause in his contract, I think the fee would be higher. Probably closer to £7-£8mill when you consider whats Young has been valued at!!! Sorry, are you saying we should just give them an extra couple of million as some sort of gift?

    General, In relation to the 'crest consultation' that is going on at the moment, could you please pass this design on to Richard Fitzgerald or whoever it may concern. It is very popular on this board (designed by a VT member (pablopicasso)) and I would be interested to know what other people though of it.

    The fact is that Everton want him and that he is lifelong Everton fan, so he would go there ahead of us. Not to mention that their league position and starting line-up is significantly better than ours.

    I don't think he'd leave Man City for us sadly. I think he might go to Everton though because he's an Everton fan.

    Let's be fair, the new CEO has only been in place for 2 weeks. Since the season began, we have had far more offers etc. than we have ever had before. I know you wanted a supporter run club and invested a lot of time and effort into reseach etc. villacross but it's time to get behind the good work being done by the new owners and the business team that they have recently instated.

    That's a really bad example because Anelka has SO much more talent than Baros and has scored goals at every Premiership club he's been at. I'd take him in a flash.

    Yakubu would be a good signing. If we'd had the present board when he left Pompey he might already be here.

    I can't see Davenport and Routledge both agreeing to Championship football next season when several Prem. clubs would take them.
