  1. I was infact joking when I said that....I thought some of the American fans would have said something about that sooner. It doesn't bother me what the manager will call football, as long as he gets the team playing winning football I'll be happy, it doesn't even have to be exciting in some cases.
  2. Anyone who calls football "soccer" shouldn't work managing a team in this country.
  3. Some people have selective reading, I've done that myself.
  4. If you've been watching them since then, surely you know football has it's ups and downs. You would also know what it's like to have loyal players playing for your team...I'm sure they would have been more loyal back then than they are now now. We all want the best for AV, whether that be winning the league, winning cups or simply staying in the top league in some cases. I honestly think if there is a way forward we have the right owner to try his best to do that. We just need a manager to match that now.
  5. Hi General, I just seen on SSN that Gabby scored in a practice match...Who was that match against? did everyone pull through that match without injuries?
  6. Bayern picked Klinsmann last year with high hopes following his successful stint as the coach of the German national team. Despite having what was considered an average collection of players, Klinsmann managed to take the side to the semi-finals of the 2006 World Cup in Germany. But Klinsmann had never coached at the club level and the latest in a series of humiliating defeats for Bayern came this weekend with a 1-0 loss at home to Schalke, leaving the Bundesliga's defending champions in third place. “We’ve laid the groundwork for the future and I still believe the team can become champion this season,” Klinsmann said. He got sacked for being 3rd in the league....that's crappy.
  7. I'm only going on what players have posted on the forums about he and the now German manager bringing the German kids through into the first German team, he did a good job from what I was reading. Coaching Career Klinsmann’s first job outside his professional playing career was with a sports marketing consultancy based in the United States, where he became vice-president. He was heavily involved in Major League Soccer as part of the Los Angeles Galaxy team. He then returned to Germany in 2004 to take charge of the national team, and succeeded former team mate and strike partner Rudi Völler. Klinsmann’s first and only task as manager of the Germany team was to bring success in a World Cup which they hosted in 2006. Klinsmann brought a much-needed freshness to the International set-up and placed huge emphasis on youth in his squads. Players were no longer picked because of who they were, but instead on current form and merit. The clearest example of this was when Klinsmann dropped Oliver Kahn, and made Jens Lehmann the new number one goalkeeper after his excellent season with Arsenal. Klinsmann’s arrival as manager of the national team was not greeted with too much praise from the German public or press. In the build up to the World Cup, his German team were humiliated by Italy, losing 4-1. Klinsmann also commuted to Germany from the United States, something which was very much frowned upon by the German public. However, Germany’s performance under Klinsmann in the 2006 World Cup hushed his critics. Germany won all three group stage games against Costa Rica, Poland and Ecuador with ease. Then, a 2-0 victory against Sweden in the first knockout stage set up a mouth watering tie against much favoured Argentina in the quarter finals. After an equalising goal from striker Miroslav Klose, the match went to penalties. Germany won 4-2 with help from Lehmann and his infamous note, which contained information on all the Argentinian spot-kickers. The nation was now behind Klinsmann but Germany’s heroics sadly ended there, as they crashed out of the competition after losing 2-0 in extra time to eventual winners Italy. They did, however, defeat Portugal 3-1 in the third and fourth playoff match. After this victory, there was a huge parade in Berlin where Klinsmann and his young squad were treated to an emphatic reaction from the public. Even Franz Beckenbauer, a previous critic of Klinsmann, announced that he wanted to keep Klinsmann as the coach. The new attacking style of play that Klinsmann created was now accepted by the German public, as they felt that national pride had been restored. To cap it all off, Klinsmann was even referred to as “Kaiser”, meaning “emperor”, a word which is normally set aside for German footballing greats such as Beckenbauer. Despite all the support, Klinsmann stepped down as coach because of family reasons. http://www.talkfootball.co.uk/guides/football_legends_jurgen_klinsmann.html
  8. Words on a screen don't mean anything, I bet most Villa fans often have dreams about us winning this and that cup, signing this and that player, peoples imaginations will run wild with or without this thread being here.
  9. If MON had walked out a few weeks earlier we would have Mark Hughes managing us now, it's just crap timing. I'm not saying he is a good manager, but one I would be happy with.
  10. If they can't get the top managers because they say no.....How do you expect to hear about them saying no? You know Lerner don't like his goings on made public, so you wouldn't even maybe hear about him approaching them. I'm with you all the way with some of the managers who want the job, people like Sven can go and jump of a cliff....He would only come for the money.
  11. I honestly don't know why you are trying to give me a lecture, or point anything out about potential managers considering you said during the weekend that Ronald Koeman would be a good appointment. I would like you to try and find the post where I said Ronald Koeman would be a good appointment....Please find it because I know I never said anything like that. You might have seen me telling someone that asked about Koeman, that he isn't that good from what I've read on these forums....Well in this very thread infact...Go and look for that post.
  12. What every club should do now is stop trading with Man City.....The price of players has to come down....I know it's not as easy as that since if you're being offered 24 mil for a player that you only paid 12 mil for 2 seasons before then you're going to snap their hands off, but something needs to be done. 2-4 clubs have really **** up this league and every other club is paying for it.
  13. Jez, I really don't know you're bothering.....People like Reality just think you can pick a name from all the managers in the world and he will come running. The bookmakers have linked us with "not so great" managers because the better managers are already in jobs, I wouldn't like to even try to think of which manager we could tempt to come to AV as the season has only just started and the unhappy managers are the ones who aren't winning games.....We don't want them managers do we? We just have to trust Lerner and his advisors to pick the right man for the job, then the fans need to give WHOEVER that is a chance.
  14. You wouldn't be the only fan who don't go to VP so it wouldn't be that much of a biggie. I think it would be most certainly, as the appointment of Bradley as manager will turn a lot of people away from going to home games. I'm sure i wouldn't be the only one delighted that they'd **** off. Huh? Delighted who **** off Giz?
  15. I think 120mil on players 4-5 years ago would have got us a decent squad, but since Chelsea and Citeh started their spending sprees that money hasn't got us much. Maybe when Lerner came that money would have got us a lot more over 4 years and just the mad spending has took what could have been a top 4 club away from us.
  16. Until we've been told that or the transfer window closes then why not keep it open? Is it causing you any harm it being left open?
  17. No, you've missed nothing in this thread, it's because of what the General said about good managers already being in jobs in his thread.
  18. Click on his name and check his post history?
  19. You wouldn't be the only fan who don't go to VP so it wouldn't be that much of a biggie. I think it would be most certainly, as the appointment of Bradley as manager will turn a lot of people away from going to home games. Well a lot of fans are happy with Kevin taking over and he has less management experience. Someone will always be unhappy, it's hard to please everyone, very hard infact.
  20. You wouldn't be the only fan who don't go to VP so it wouldn't be that much of a biggie.
  21. How would that manager be any better than MON then walking out of a club 1-2 weeks into the new season. I guess because he would be coming to us it wouldn't matter, yet what would stop him doing that to us later down the line for a even better job. The best we can hope for is Ajax get knocked out of the Champions league and Jol might hint he wants to move on.....Maybe then we could pay a compensation package, but I can't see him leaving until that happens.
  22. Hi General, Thanks for answering some people, but I think the same questions will be asked even after what you've said. Some fans would like to know if there will be a possiblity of us signing any players before the transfer window closes? but seeing as we don't have a full time manager in place at the moment how would that be possible if you were to answer yes to the first question.
