  1. It might have been ugly today, but we needed that win....Well done lads, you've put a smile on many Villa fans faces.
  2. Forgot all about McClaren.....He would get mixed up and do a yam yam accent
  3. "Two of the traits we believe are of crucial importance are that candidates have experience of managing in the Premier League and a strategy for building on the existing strengths in our current squad" That's like saying....Sorry Bradley, we know your a fellow American, but were not giving you the job.
  4. Thanks General, You're not in England already?.....I thought you said you were coming over today. I wish the media and Harry Redknapp would stop with the comments about Ashley Young....It makes some of us fans uneasy.....I know you have said he isn't going anywhere, but I wish Redknapp would piss off asking. The team were fantastic today, defensively and the odd spells attacking also....Good work all round from all of them...Even Downing who looked a little out of it at times. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Experience in the PL...my sense is that experience in the PL is a plus...not a minus. Obviously it is not the overriding criteria but it would be taken into General you said the above comment, the statement released said that the key criteria is they must have managed in the PL.
  5. Reo Cokers runs at times were shocking, he has some speed...that run from one end to the other was class even though he didn't get the cross in. He was solid today, also Collins he threw everything at every ball. Collins was my MOTM though. The whole team played defensively great today....The save at the end....WOW!....Heart is still racing. The boys done AV proud today, but we can't keep playing football like that....I don't think my heart could take it.
  6. He doesn't fit with what General Krulak said they're looking for.....If they choose him then what Gen said needs questioning.
  7. "The "right" Manager for the Villa may not be the "right" Manager in your mind...but he will be the "right" one in the minds of those who are choosing. He needs to know the League, have demonstrated he can win in the League, be a team player who understands the ethos, traditions and values of the Club, be in synch with the leadership of the Club and have the same vision, etc. etc. etc. Finding the "right" person may appear easy to some...but it is not that easy. We have spent MANY hours looking for the person....we have traveled and we have talked...JUST because it isn't spread all over the London Times does not mean that we haven't been working."
  8. Did you not read General Krulaks post about what they're looking for? How does he even fit into that?
  9. It's all just sad....IF we lose today, then a new manager comes in it will take a few games for the players to adapt to that managers tactic/playing style.....If they don't adapt fast enough we could be losing a few more games after the international break too.
  10. That's how bad the fans confidence in the team is atm, we can't even predict our own team winning.....Sad sad days.
  11. He is just desprate for any job....I bet if another prem manager were to go he would be linked right away.
  12. He really doesn't fit what General Krulak said they're looking for anyway...him or Bradley...I guess that's a plus.
  13. Koeman was on SSN on the phone, he said he has had no contact from AV....
  14. I think most people in this thread are in an agreement then.....It's going to get worse before it gets better?
  15. You've not been sleeping with Dogs again Chris have you?
  16. Yes IMO. Not a lot of players coming through the academy have made it as players for Villa. I'm not saying it's bad but there's always room for improvement. We should strive to make our academy as good as, if not better, than Barcelona's and Ajax's. I know it's not likely but we should try our best to improve. I don't disagree with you mate. I do think though that JK is using the youth set up improvement to hawk himself for any available jobs, including Villa's. That said, all managers need a selling point I suppose. I'm not convinced with Klinsman. Quote from Klinsman: “The next opportunity I take on must have an environment where I feel really happy. I want to work with people that do it for the right reasons. General's comment :He needs to know the League, have demonstrated he can win in the League, be a team player who understands the ethos, traditions and values of the Club, be in synch with the leadership of the Club and have the same vision, etc. etc. etc. Looks like they're looking for the same thing...Sorta.
  17. Yet they could with Kevin if he took over briefly until the right manager came along. People were saying give it Kevin until January or the end of the season.
  18. I agree with you about Joachim Low's imput in Klinsmann's German team, also JK doesn't fit the criteria that the General has just mentioned. (it's 15 years since he last played in the premiership) He knows the league, he has won games....what don't fit?
  19. That fits in with what General Krulak said....I hope it's Klinsman...If we get a defencive midfielder who can cover the back 4 then I think attacking style of football will work good.....Without a defencive midfielder...meh...
  20. As someone posted earlier....here are a few to pick from....Not sure what other names could be added to that list that are currently in jobs or out of work.
  21. Maybe he is waiting for us to play Everton so he can tap up Moyles.
  22. You've got the wrong thread StourVilla, Joke thread is in the offtopic forum.
  23. You have to play football with an end product....I bet half of the time Arsenal fans are busy pulling their hair out.
