  1. We're still winning. Just need to weather the storm, would also help if we started singing again. If we keep it like this for ten mins and just keep the ball the confidence will be restored. We're so fragile at the moment though!
  2. I'd like to see Downing in behind the striker. He possesses a good pass and is good on the ball, I don't see why he should be given a chance. Direct and pacey on the wings with Ash and Marc with Downing providing the guile in behind the striker. Why not?
  3. Wonder how long it will take for "Houllier's claret and blue army" to be blasted out - such is the nature of some of our fans... Apparently there are some 'Houllier out' banners according to the radio.
  4. As opposed to? Those who branded him inadequate as he only had Championship experience and should be behind Lichaj and Cuellar in the pecking order as a result.
  5. Amazing how things can change when people give players chances isn't it!
  6. It's similar to the Fulham midfield that started and arguably that was our best away performance of the season in terms of the football we played.
  7. and you are sure of this of course, the only thing he seems to have done is make us into a **** laughing stock so far, he has in six months turned us from at top 6 to a bottom 3 team, well done GH he should get the LMA aword for that, blame MON though eh, its his fault that GH couldn't manage a good shite for himself.. There's a difference between vision and actually getting the job done. I think, given time, Houllier's more pragmatic approach will benefit Villa - something MON never had. He's happy to rotate his squad, bring in players from across the globe. That said, he is fighting an extremely steep up-hill battle that has been caused by himself to some extent, so whether he has that long-term opportunity to bring success to the club is doubtful.
  8. Andy Marshall. Ex-Cov. And in regards to your previous post, Houllier can't seem to win no matter what he does then?
  9. That's probably a good enough team anyway, most of them with a point to prove too. Maybe draft in Beye for Warnock if he is unavailable like 'TimothyAbraham' suggested.
  10. LCD Soundsystem - All My Friends. Lyrically one of the best songs of the millenium.
  11. Even, as a Labour voter, I find it obscene that Labour are four ahead of the Tories whilst doing absolutely nothing. Very little will get done in this country if the government chops and changes every election. It's a British mindset for the those who are not in power to always be better than those that are and it is awfully counter-productive. As a student, I'd love to hear what people think about the increases in fees. I personally have little objection, but it would be interesting to get a perspective from somebody who has been in employment for some time.
  12. If you don't mind a bit of controversy, Four Lions is arguably the funniest film I have ever seen, whilst also delivering a very good message. I can't speak highly enough of it - film of 2010. Or go for any of the early Kubrick's if bored (basically anything before Eyes Wide Shut).
  13. In fairness, "well done" and "one player"? Why not say who the player is you numpties if it's true. Can't really take this seriously.
  14. Wonderful support shown there. I think they'll be plenty of excuses coming out from people who don't renew if we got relegated - here is an early prototype.
  15. Sorry but he sealed his own fate. The night he had a public love fest with his lover Liverpool - that was the beginning of the end. As with Hodgson, since then it is only a question of when. That night lifted the coffin lid for me, tonight certainly sealed it. As for Allardyce, I'd take him, I think it is the same as Redknapp, always been seen as a "Big guy at a small club". I think he'd do a job at a club of us, or Everton's stature. Oh, and before someone points out Newcastle, they were 9th when they sacked him, and if I remember correctly, above us at the time ! Think he might be referring to the disgrace to AVFC that some of our 'supporters' were tonight, singing Houllier's name (albeit probably in vein) and then within five minutes calling for his head. Now tell me, is that productive. I'm embarrassed. I'm just **** glad the press haven't really picked up on it.
  16. For the record, I was going to post exactly this... Our fans were singing it at Chelsea on Sunday aswell. Are you serious?! ****! I wasn't at Chelsea and I sit in the Doug Ellis so could hardly hear them singing (we weren't loud until "you're getting sacked in the morning!") but is that seriously how fickle our fans have become? Seriously, that's **** embarrassing if true. We ain't fickle we just don't like..anybody? I despair for this club I really do. It's the fans as much as anybody that has bought this downfall. As Sky pump more money into the game and players demand a bigger salary, fans ticket prices will just get steeper and steeper. You might think I'm going off on some tangent but as these ticket prices get higher, it will increase the expectations of fans to get their money's worth and this will have an adverse effect on the performance of a team. Murdoch + Villa fans = bad mix. Yes, it's the same for everybody in the Prem, but not everybody in the Prem has a huge percentage of their support living on past glories of winning the European Cup. There are so many fans who's expectations are too high and as a result when thing's go bad at Villa, things get really bad. I fear for us, I really do. It feels like we are turning into Forest #II and we are self-destructing in with huge consequences. Sorry for that cynical rant, but like I said, when things turn shit (they never really did under MON), they really do turn shit and everyone is to blame except the fans but when you see just how low and fickle some people are.. I dunno. Maybe a few Villa fans (who I don't suppose post on this bored because they forgot their **** password to get onto their computer) need to look at themselves, because its just embarrassing. People underestimate the power of fans.
