Quite a few people are currently struggling with a nasty flu like virus that hangs around for weeks. Anyone on here had it?

One thing that occurred to me earlier than the 3 or 4 people I know who have had it recently are all unvaccinated for Covid, could there be some protection from the covid jabs? Could also just be coincidence of course.

Yes I and many of my friends have been I’ll for weeks, with it coming and going.

Couple positive for covid after a night in brum at the weekend aswell. All vaccinated to my knowledge.

Id prefer the theory it is just flu we havnt managed to catch for a few years but as we arnt testing as throughly worldwide we will surely miss new strains of covid until we visible notice it.

  2. Concerning reports coming out of China of mass spread and increasing death tallies.

Went out on Saturday with my football team, 2 confirmed as covid and about 8 of us feeling very rough.

This could just be normal flu but it doesn’t feel like normal flu.

It's not the political system that's the problem is the politicians, greedy,  selfish and in it for all the wrong reasons.

Potato Potatoe, workers striking due to pay and standards wanting a redistribution of wealth.

Not sure if we’ve had any reform to parliament structure in the last 100 years?

FYI I don’t want communism but you can see why workers rise up and want to change the status quo

    Biggest Charlatan since Tim Sherwood

wasted too many good players and stuck with too many shit ones

but to give him credit he has played the media well and moved England away from the off field debacles we used to have

I won’t stop laughing st whoever gives him a premier league job though .. I really hope it’s West Ham

I’m defo not saying he’s great but also don’t think he got the tactics wrong today. The 1st goal especially.

In hindsight yes but we were the better team and France know they didn’t deserve that. I expect them to win it now.

It isn’t derogatory but it is incorrect, Netherlands is the correct name for the entire country.

Holland only is a region but for whatever reason over time was also used to refer to the country as a whole, the name change (to the official country name) was a step away from this.

The previous quoted comment sounds a bit (and I don’t use this word lightly) woke.

The Dutch that I work with neither mind or care. I actually though it was the other way round as well, the nederlands meaning something along the lines of low lands on Germania so actually it’s only a part of the county and Netherlands or Holland being correct.

  6. Yes the performance was terrible in isolation which could be forgiven but we play this way too often. Its negative, lacking flair and I think most importantly flexibility to change when needed.

Henderson and Rashford were ridiculous substituions. If he thought a midfielder was required surely Gallagher to match the energy of the USA midfield. Clearly screaming out for Foden. Kane dropping deep as per under Southgate but we dont have enough striking options to mix it up tactically, Kane will always play and I like Wilson but surely having Tammy as a different style option makes sense.

Im not calling Gallagher and White saviours of this team but he will at some point be questioned about subs again and will trot out about using his experienced competition players ect ect bla bla so why not bring both on when we were 6-2 against Iran to give some exposure.

I can only judge it by people I know of and there are quite a few that play the system.

And I suppose it seems logical to extrapolate this across the whole population. However the people that you know of taking the piss is a small percentage of the people you know In general I assume.

Back to one of your original points, absolutely this government would love to rip up all workers rights. The American hire and fire system, with no holiday and contributed benefits I.e insurance is their dream.

The problem is we have a large amount of people at working age who can get by on welfare rather than work, which offers them no advantage with the minimum wage being so low.

The only way to break this cycle ( in a welfare state) is to make it worth while for people to go to work by raising the minimum wage well above benefit payments.

The EU have tried to stop this race to the bottom of working standards but our leaders seem hell bent on the UK being a low wage low skills economy. (Despite what they say)

The bonfire of EU regulations they keep talking about will include the working time directive, holiday entitlements and paternity pay, time off to care for dependants and other such laws which get in the way of cheap labour. All these actions fly in face of a highly skilled labour force earning high wages, they aren't telling the people the truth.

On the subject of low skilled workers being immigrants, this is also a fallacy, there are loads of doctors , engineers and highly skilled immigrants being brought into the UK who are also driving the wages down at the skilled end of the labour market.

Do we really have that many people on benefits rather than working? this "large" number you speak of isnt really that many. Especially when you take into account people on benefits also working. I blame Jeremy Kyle and shows highlighting the ones ripping off the system for portraying a situation of complete mass piss takers.

I long for the day we have a PM with the balls to call Brexit out for the clusterf**k it has been.

The 2 options we have seem to be:

    1) Continue to pretend Brexit is a great idea with many benefits. -> Downside is that enormous negative impact on the economy. The loss of many rights, higher costs, less freedom, worsening environmental conditions, weaker trade, more barriers etc etc etc

    2) Call out Brexit for what it is, a massive act of self harm and we need to urgently revert -> Downside is it’ll upset the, mainly thickos, who are particularly defensive at being proved wrong. There is nothing else.

Why aren’t we doing it already????

We arnt doing it because too many of the brexit voters are active voters in elections.

It’s absolutely the right things to do, it’s also the think that will guarantee the loss of millions of votes.

I’d imagine Dyche is nowhere near the statement signing the club want to make.

Dyche gets a bad rep due to how he had to play with his resources at hand. Give me a team who will fight and bully a their way to a win right now.

Burnley also played some decent football at time. Dyche knew what they were and how to get that to compete.

Hes a big character and I’d be happy with him.

more of the same after the last album so a lot of people including their fans won't like it, I think it's better than the last album but it's still not a barnstormer, its deep and heavy littered with good bits but in isolation rather than flowing all the way through, it's still a development of their sound but again taking it in a more mature direction that for me isn't as good as where they've come from, AM is a masterpiece and they're still on the comedown, will take a lot of listens to appreciate it but its good enough to deserve the time, I'd say it's a 7/10 on first listen

there's some proper bond theme tune stuff in there

at least they've added that's where you're wrong to their setlist, love that song its one of my favourites by them, same as the last album im expecting this to play really well live, body paint for example the guitar hits harder

Better than their last album is the best complement I can give it.

If they were a new band and created 2 albums of this dross they would never get signed.

Interesting times now. His support in terms of Gerrard is gone. Did he sign because of Gerrard only, or did he sign for the club? He either downs tools completely, or ups his game under whoever is the new manager now.

He is another James Rodriguez, he can pick his tools up all he wants, they are blunt now.

Along with Gerrard was happy for him to get a chance this season, unfortunately you could see last season he’s not a shadow of what he was.

  13. Delighted he’s gone, accepted he got given a chance at the start of the season but he has continued the last 15 or so games from last season into this.

This wasn’t a blip it was Villa under Gerrard, going one way.

  14. The Emi Martinez interview where he says Beale did all the talking and all the coaching is very telling. We currently have the Ex Blackpool manager in that role, with Mcfee buzzing around just looking like he wants to be involved.

Gerrard has also been sometimes slighly sometimes very clearly throwing the players under for sometime. He wasnt the right choice and someone at the club needs to grow some balls to get rid.

  15. Surely Archer out there would be better than the turgid performances he puts in.

Every so often throws a good cross in but cant beat a man, is weak, runs down blind alleys and most importantly is LAZY.

Exactly the type of player a manager in a relegation battle shouldnt be relying on.

I’m still expecting someone to tell me he should get the Brentford and Newcastle games to turn things around.

Let me save you some effort. No.

I think he will get them

  17. Ref had a shocker but just like Mings error last week these things happen to teams who are in poor form, usually because you invite so much pressure you eventually make a mistake that can be picked up on.

Should be the end of Gerrard and his band of merry coaches, I fear he will be in the dug out for Brentford to allow 34000 ish boo him instead.
