  1. So what? That was an individual performance. We let in 4 at Man City. Besides the Swansea game, we were consistently shipping lots of goals. I really do fail to see how our defence has improves from last year.
  2. Agreed. That was one of the best defensive performances I've ever seen from Villa. We did have Cuellar and Clark in the fullback positions, but as you said, the front 6 was very attack-minded. I don't see why McLeish can't just replace Warnock and Hutton with Clark and Cuellar if he wants to be more defensive.
  3. I'll be clapping him, I just hope the fans don't spend the entire game singing about him instead of our own team.
  4. What? How are we tighter defensively? Up until the Swansea game we'd conceded at least 2 goals 5 games in a row. We're also conceding a ridiculous number of goals from set-pieces - probably about 1 a game if you average it out.
  5. No he didn't, not one bit. Our defence is still dire. Last season Friedel was never a problem, so replacing him with Given while obviously a good move, did little to help. Dunne is playing better but that means little when Collins is still completely useless. Also, he brought Warnock back into the side so that's another liability. Hutton goes without saying.
  6. If we win this I'll change my avatar to MON for a month.
  7. I agree but say it to a United/sky fan and you will be killed Its a bit like us old un's trying to justify Peter Withe as the greatest player ever to grace the game. Which of course he was Unless you're a certain member on here.
  8. Shall we wait for the opinion of our very own expert scout SGC?
  9. BS. I've seen nothing on here about it. How would they know?
  10. Beye has hardly done that mcuh. Admittedly Warnock has done well at times but he's also a massive liability. I agree although using Albrighton as an example wasn't great as he is a liability at times too and IMO is rightly out of the side. Well on the whole Albrighton was good last season. My point is that just because a player isn't appearing doesn't mean the manager has a vendetta against him.
  11. Beye has hardly done that mcuh. Admittedly Warnock has done well at times but he's also a massive liability.
  12. Hmmm yes they were shit but it was also a vendetta If that was a vendetta then McLeish must have a vendetta against Albrighton too. Albrighton has at least done well at times in a Villa shirt.
  13. I hope McLeish does well with us but I have absolutely no faith that he'll do anything but the opposite.
  14. I really hope he doesn't score against us. If he does however, we better already be a few goals up and it better be a blooter and he better not celebrate.
  15. They only continued filming for about two seconds. :| I'm not a huge fan of News Corporation but this is ridiculous.
  16. Well you had the Houllier personal vendetta against certain players and he and Warnock were the main victims of this. Would still prefer him at right back rather than that Sweaty Numpty playing there now! Even with his mistakes! It wasn't a vendetta. They were shit. Young, Cuellar, Clark and later Walker were always better options in the fullback positions.
  17. The goalkeeper has always been the least of our worries. Brad was great. Given is just as good if not better.
  18. If we are going to win this, it would be nice if we could do it near the end instead of having to sit through 70 minutes of tense defending like against Man City. My word that was tense.
  19. To be fair there aren't that many seats left. Normally I can easily get two seats together in the Lower North but it's completely sold out. Are you sitting in the away end? If so I agree. I know it's irrational, but I just have this feeling. For some reason I can just see it being like the fabled Man City game.
  20. I'd give AVB a piggbyback to VP in a shot. It's on my way up anyway.
  21. Just bought tickets for this. For some reason I've got this gut feeling that we're going to win. No idea why.
  22. I'm not in favour of sacking him yet (although it wouldn't bother me if he was) but even if our final league position isn't all that bad I still don't want to see him here next season. He's just too negative and that won't help our declining attendances one bit.
