  1. SSN understands that Rafa Benitez has been contacted by Aston Villa regarding the vacant managerial position. Also we understand that McLaren, Hughes, Moyes, Martinez, Poyet, Coyle, Rijkaard, Mackay, O'Neill, Capello, Guardiola, Villas-Boas & Dave Jones have also potentially been contacted. SSN = Bullshit
  2. I would not believe anything SSN comes up with. I would imagine we've already contacted and interviewed the candidates so to say that we have contacted Rafa now tells us **** all. SSN didn't even know GH was going until 12 hours after Kendrick broke the story.
  3. Tigana. Really? I would imagine we're looking at a man who has managed in the Prem within the last 2 years.
  4. Fair play General our club is watertight. Loving the fact that no journo's have the foggiest idea as to who our new manager will be. Keep up the good work.
  5. Moyes, Moyes, Moyes, Moyes, Moyes, Moyes, Moyes, Moyes, Moyes, Moyes, Moyes, Moyes, Moyes, Moyes, Moyes, Moyes, Moyes, Moyes, Moyes, Moyes, Moyes, Moyes, Moyes. And relax!!! And wipe up the mess...
  6. After Tom Hanks' statement yesterday I'm suprised Cloughie's odds haven't shortened.
  7. Moyes is the perfect fit for Villa if we can convince him to move here. He has achieved top 4 with Everton and has an eye for a player. Admittedly he does sign some donkey's but as we have seen the likes of Harewood, Knight, Sidwell, Salifou and Heskey grace our club under the previous successful regime I wouldn't be too concerned. Everton are selling off Baines as they can't sell Rodwell to Man Utd due to declining interest. Baines was Everton's main supply for goals last season and the majority of good things went through him. I'm not so sure Moyes would be too chuffed about having to sell him so maybe we are making a move.
  8. Imagine the uproar on talkSPORT from Mr Durham if we pinched Moyes from Everton or snapped up Benitez. "Who do Aston Villa think they are...?"
  9. How is that a bad thing? If Benitez gets the job it will be on the proviso that he is given funds to by BIG players, which will only benefit us. I don't think Randy will make promises and then back out of them once he's got his man.
  10. This season we need a manager who unites fans, not divides them. Houllier was a good manager but make some massive PR gaffes. The worst thing the club can do now is appoint someone who already has to win over the majority of fans before he's even started. So it should be a definite no to McLaren. Benitez I'm not so sure about because he is a very good manager and I think the pressure of the Liverpool job, then the wank yank tank owners, then the Inter job was all too much for him. I'd imagine we'd see the old Benitez if he took over at VP this summer. However, for me it has to be Moyes. But that's highly unlikely and as such I would take any of Coyle, Poyet or Benitez. I did want Hughes but given his willingness to jump ship for a better job I'm not so sure but will give him a chance if he gets the job. Just not Steve **** McLaren - not because of his ability but because he is a laughing stock with little charisma and that would not benefit our club.
  11. which bookies ? Surely we'll see this in the odds this evening then?
  12. Only way I'd take Rafa is if we also got Pako Ayestarian as Assistant. Pretty sure they had a massive falling out though. Interesting to hear talkSPORT discussing the potential return of MON.
  13. My ITK source says this will go to 348 pages before a new manager is announced.
  14. Hi General, I know that you won't comment on press speculation and good on you. I'm not SM's biggest fan but he's not even confirmed as being interviewed yet so not sure why people are battering the radio stations and this site with massive protests. If it is to be McLaren I guess we will have to see how things develop. There's no point abusing the man before he's even given the job.
  15. I believe that Hughes will get the Everton job once we sign up Moyes this week.
  16. Moyes all day long now. None of this "must be unemployed to avoid upsetting other clubs crap", managers are out of work because they are either 1) Disloyal (Hughes), 2) Shit (McLaren), 3) Bottlers (MON), 4) Unlucky (Ancelotti). We have to be ruthless and go after Moyes and give him a big summer transfer kitty to get the players he wants in.
  17. Hi General, I'm not going to slate you or Randy for crap that comes out in the press as we don't know what effort has been made to secure a manager. However, I will agree that if you check the voting system 4 people out of 611 so far want McLaren as manager. I would also imagine that it has nothing to do with being linked with Ancelotti. As such, I'm really hoping he hasn't even made the shortlist for an interview. Cheers JS
  18. I'm mortified at any possibility that McLaren could be our manager and feel sick whenever his name is mentioned in the press. So far 0.65% of those who have voted want him - a shocking statistic. Let's hope the execs at our club read some of the opinions and figures on here. Right, off on my lunch break now to try and track down Ancelotti somewhere in B'ham.
  19. Hughes should definitely be a no now. He clearly is whoring himself out to the highest bidder citing "ambition" as the leading factor. Such a load of crap. Let Chelsea massage his ego and we'll go for a Moyes, Ancelotti or Jol. Really hoping that something is announced this week and that Randy is flying in to appoint the right man and sort out Young's contract/departure.
  20. Durham is such a wankbag. So we have to settle for someone like McLaren as we aren't in the CL.
  21. I really want us to sign Ancelotti now just to piss off Adrian Durham on Talkshite who is going to spend the next 3 hours belittling us.
