  1. Tom there's an argument to be had saying why not spend the summer budget in January if the right players are available but I doubt that will happen and fans would shit a brick if we spent no money in the summer.
  2. As far as I know P3te we don't own any extra land anymore and besides even if we do its in a dump.
  3. Is it just me who hasn't seen Holtby play much? I just feel we need a proven centre back and a creative midfielder on loan if we have no budget left for transfers.
  4. BJ10 the increase in TV money only makes us a larger company in regards to turnover not profit so it doesn't vastly improve our selling value, its a moot point anyway because its clear he wont break even at the moment and even more moot because he hasn't said the clubs for sale.
  5. Merry Christmas danceoftheshamen FFP can be a complicated issue there is are rules saying you cant play in Europe if you break the rules and there are soon to be rules that say you cant play in the Premier League if you break the rules. I just wanted to say that as people seem to think it is just Europe that's an issue. Some clubs flout the rules like Chelsea & City who's owners indirectly sponsor the club for massive sums to make them FFP compliant however when looking at Liverpool, Arsenal and Utd they are FFP compliant anyway through their legitimate sponsorships and huge merchandising revenues. City and Chelsea have those same revenues too but they spunk so much money away they currently need those shall we call them fake sponsorships. I feel it would be hard for uefa to legislate against that, for us to do it we are talking about a moot point as our owner doesn't want to overfund us anymore anyway. The biggest change in revenue we could do is sell naming rights for the ground.
  6. Yea you can just post a link BJ10. It seems Lambert was saying he is carrying some injury's that need clearing up but then deflects the blame for playing him by saying he lacks confidence at the moment. I just don't see Benteke throwing a strop and think the dry up of goals is mostly down to these knocks.
  7. I disagree on the leftback he is fine the problem is he doesn't get supported when teams go down the right sylla during the Man Utd game was a classic example of that
  8. I doubt we would have to cut if we ever went down under Randy. I do agree it wouldn't harm to have people who have been involved in football for tens of years like Taylor in a board position, it is a failing of Randy to get that done years ago in my opinion.
  9. That's just what I think the plan is Drat. I think he will continue to get 20m a season but it wont be spread out so much as we have a fairly full squad and common sense says if the wage bill is ok with the 100's of thousands a week coming off the wage bill from the bomb squad getting pushed out then that can go on rises for existing players and new signings. I also think it should be noted that nearly everyone we have brought will be worth the same or more if sold and that isn't something we have been used to as Villa fan in the last decade.
  10. Drat01 I will say the team is easily good enough to stay in the league but not to take us forward, but then again I don't expect us to make any strides forward until 2015 when all the bomb squad are gone and we may have had 5 or 6 players at 5m plus brought by the end of the 2015 summer window.
  11. If I were Lambert I would carry on doing pretty much exactly what I was doing until I got my next slice of transfer budget. Exceptions to this would be... Bring Lowton back in move Bacuna into midfield. Never play Kozac unless there is two up front with wide players feeding them. I would be tempted to bring in a loan player for central defence and midfield if allowed and someone decent is available.
  12. Did he BJ10? Got a link? I would like to read that.
  13. Q, Is sacking another manager the answer? A, No.
  14. Of course some other manager would do better but other than Wenger who is obvious I couldn't tell you 100% sure who. I quite like what Lambert has done by enlarge and we should just see it out, I doubt we will go down and those high earners are still leaving making the situation better for us year on year.
  15. I think there is truth to the difference in the style of play to last year effecting Benteke's form and the omission of Lowton from the team also hindering his performances but I cant help but think that he is carrying a few injuries and playing through at the moment. That strain after something like 5 games then rushing back for the Belgian game where it seems he picked up another injury coincided with such a change in form I can only think that is the reason. I wish Lambert would come out and say so if that's the reason as it would stop so many people doubting Benteke and praising him for playing through (if that's the case) but then again it would cast doubt on Lamberts judgement as he hasn't been scoring and therefore his playing through has been pointless.
  16. I think he wouldn't sell up to someone as bad as Venkys but then again it can be difficult sometimes to judge who to sell to. I suppose that he would rule out anyone who would leverage their buyout against the value of the club and someone who didn't have much money such as someone like Young further than that I think its difficult unless its a buyer like Usmanov, Abramovic or Mansour who have 10's of billions.
  17. Mike I stated what I see and think I have no need to open a debate I am not here to change peoples opinions its too much effort and it can't be achieved. As for being someone close to the club that's just paranoia talking.
  18. I stand by what I said in my post and I don't feel the need to reply to the posts since aimed at it, when you write a post criticizing fans you don't expect most fans to react well. Just a quick reply to the couple of posters mentioning a 20k wage cap I don't know where this info has come from as Weimann, Benteke, Agbonlahor and Vlaar are all on more than that never mind the bomb squad at the very least.
  19. Some of the comments on here are unbelievable in my opinion I have said everything I am about to say before... We are not a massive club! We are a big club in comparison to 80 clubs in the football league but not in the premier league we are a mid table club and that's where we belong for many reasons. The first reason is we haven't won anything of note for over 30 years, think of it like this someone born in 1945 at the end of the war has seen villa win (of note) an FA Cup in 1957 age 12, Premiership (Division 1) 1981 age 36, Champions League (European Cup) 1982 age 37, European Super Cup 1983 age 38, that fan would be 69 this season. In what most would call modern football we have won nothing of note and someone who went to there first game at 10 is 40 this season and has seen us win nothing of note. So why do I bore you about this? Simple our fans keep going on about some god given right for us to CHALLENGE for things. Now for me the above shows exactly the opposite and that our fans shouldn't expect this at all. Next. MONEY! We make the same as every other club in the league bar 5 or 6 teams the reason there is a difference is yes a few clubs have more fans turn up but the real reason is merchandise sales and sponsorship take a look at Liverpool, Chelsea, Utd etc and see where there income comes from and you will see that a massive proportion comes from those revenue streams and simply we don't have it. Lastly on the chairman I am disgusted that our chairman is expected to throw away his money or be vilified by his clubs own fans. My view is this, a chairman should never take money out of a club year on year (fine to make a profit when selling the club) and clubs should spend what they have and that's it. No overdraft, no sugar daddy. Nothing. Sport is about earning it on merit and if you want to do it the same way the others have done it recently then go and support them and be happy. I doubt we will spend anything significant in January and I fully expect us to spend another 20m next season just like we have this season and last the difference will be that it doesn't HAVE to go on 7 or 8 players in future it can be spend on two or 3 players. We will move forward slowly but it will be forward if we carry on down this route. Randy has made mistakes but the moves being made now are correcting them. Suck it up.
  20. This game is simply down to a serious lack of quality in midfield on our part as is most games.
  21. I thought this would come up when I heard the rumour Utd wanted to sell Young as part of their rebuilding and today the Daily Mail has said we are heading the queue for him.
  22. Well now you mention it I wouldn't mind ground sharing at all it doesn't make a difference!!
  23. Yes if we had an owner like Chelsea or City to self finance it.... No, we don't fill our ground, we don't have an owner to finance it. The best idea for the situation we find our selves in my opinion is to redevelop the north stand, fill the corners and sell naming rights to fund it. We can then charge less so the 50 odd thousand capacity sells out, more fans getting hooked on going down for home games, and easier to sell the idea of naming rights as it is cheaper. Just my two pence.
